We've had worse keepers than him at this level! Aaron Howe was one...

But my vote has to go to Gavin Williams, he was a shockingly bad striker.

Then Beassnt miraculously got a football league contract - nothing to do with his Dad being there I'm sure.

I would say someone like Harry Cardwell who we had on loan from Reading for 6/7 games. Looked like a competitor winner.

Didn't play in the Conference for long, but Elliott Charles has to be a contender.
If we ignore the his two seasons at Hendon and Eastbourne, his career reads played 95 scored 8, including 4 goals in 40 appearances for us. This is an out and out striker with international caps...

Not one of our more successful youth team products!

Remember one of your fans claiming Hattersley would be one of the best strikers seen at this level at the start of that season.

I was surprised Hatterlsey had ever scored goals, so ineffective was he at Altrincham last year (along with everyone else of course)
Was Sheridan always on the heavy side? He looked very out of shape last week.

Wouldn't have said Sheridan was out of shape a couple of years ago when he was with us - I think he's had a few injuries, but can't imagine he's got fat. An OK player, though only at Conference North level.

I quite liked Vidal. Couldn't really defend but quite exciting going forward. Unfortunately he seems to be made of glass.

Sam Beasant.
I think John Sullivan was a poorer keeper for us. We had an incredible defence that season yet he still managed to drop everything in his three games for us. Played 3 games in a promotion chasing conference side with no competition for his place - sums up how bad he was.

Jake Reid was even worse I would say

We had Leon Braithwaite back in the day who was shite, as were the Piper brothers (Chris/Lenny).

So far the former Southport (or current) players mentioned here are:

Josh O'Keefe
Michael Bakare
Jamie Hand
Richard Brodie
Ashley Grimes
Craig Stanley
Danny Hattersley
Jack Sampson
Sam Sheridan
Andy Mutch (over 30 years ago to be fair!)

Only the first three would be genuine contenders for our worst XI of recent seasons. Some of you lot really don't know you're born!

Aaron Howe was mediocre at Conference South level.

A few of ours:

Michael Bakare
Wes Baynes
Michael Jones (Played for Northwich in 2008/09 season, it counts)
Patrick Suffo
Hedi Taboubi
Lamine Sakho (Mansfield fans will remember his infamous headbutt)
Callum Powell (Except that game away at Maidstone)

I'll also add Hyde's defence to the list for keeping Rob Ogleby off mine. He scored a hat trick past them!

From a while back, Matthew Tipton.. used to play for Bury in 2006 and then went to Macclesfield iirc... I'm guessing he's played his trade in this league at some point. We were awful in 2006 but even then he still stood out as being useless.

Apart from Jon Parkin, Tippy was one of my favourite players to ever play for Macc.

Didn't Ogleby also get a hattrick at Dartford? A flat track.bully.

Tippy was excellent for Macc, and I'd be looking at him as a future manager at some point, he seems to be doing well out in Ireland. Don't think he ever played down here.

Favourite Tippy moment for Macc was away at Spotland in a massive relegation 6 pointer. At 1-1, we were awarded a penalty with about 10 mins left and the Rochdale players were all trying to put him off before hand do he just picked the ball up, walked over to the Macc fans and started doing kick ups whilst the ref sorted everything out! Strolls back over and rolls the ball nonchalantly in the bottom corner. That win just about saw us safe. Following season him and Parkin hit over 40 goals between them (nothing on FGR's front line last season) and we got to the play-offs.
