MK Dons
For the Dons about five years ago. Oldham at home. Tuesday night. Paul Ince feeling the pressure as what looked like a promising season is floundering. We came in off the back of a decent draw at Norwich and finally some signs that we had turned a corner after a poor run of form that had seen our play off hopes evaporate.

What followed was unimaginably dull. The 0-0 score line in front of a reasonable midweek crowd for us (8,500) only tells half the story. The only genuine moment of any football being played was provided by Lewis Guy beating his man and whipping in a teasing cross that eluded everyone. Ironically that cross probably got him his move to s:mk in the summer.

The full time whistle was met with a chorus of boo's. Ince threw his toys out of the pram in his post match interview and then was handed a five match ban for a bust up at Gillingham a month previously. That was pretty much the end of that. He announced he was quitting at the end of the season due to a reduced budget for the following season, so he said - probably true, but said it all about the man that he wasn't prepared to stay and fight. Personally, I've always believed it was a sacking in all but name. Winkie's patience was wearing thin with his touch line bans and our shocking disciplinary record. Was it eight yellows and a sending off at Norwich?Robbo took over as de facto caretaker manager (although it wasn't even described as that) an the rest is history...

The general consensus amongst our fans is that City 0-1 Sheff Utd in November 2013 was the worst game of football seen at the gate in about 20 years. Two absolutely dreadful sides playing hoofball, and they nicked it.

I wasn't there though. I'll go for the 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury a few weeks before that.

I was....was about the fourth game I'd taken my son too. That was the low on what has been a high since.

That was an incredibly low time for both clubs.

I've never seen a Bristol City team in my whole life so short of ideas as they were on that day. It was awful.

A couple of 0-0 draws with Exeter. Strangely enough, both in promotion seasons (95/6 and 12/13)

Brighton 2-1 Gills.

Might not necessarily have been a shit game, but I couldn't see any of it from the away 'stand' at the Withdean.

In terms of actual games I've been able to subject myself to, there have been a host of dire games in the last couple of years, normally ending up with us losing 1-0 at home late on. First into my mind is probably Tranmere about 5/6 years ago. It was essentially the game that sent us out of League One, and it was bloody awful. Even their goal was hideously scrappy.

Withdean was terrible. I only went their once and vowed to never again. I don't expect the best view of the game as an away fan, but you could barely see a thing.

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
Bournemouth 0 Barnet 2, December 2008.

Two terrible, terrible teams scrapping to survive at the bottom of L2, on a stodgy bog of a pitch, and two comical goals. One of which it seemed like our defender on the line had time to make a cuppa tea before clearing the ball, only to somehow end up on his arse in the net along with the ball, and our goalkeeper for good measure.

Alternately:

Gillingham 1 Bournemouth 0 of the same season.

It was utterly freezing on that scaffolding pole away end, a few hundred of us Cherries fans huddle together to keep warm through the sleet and snow. The stewards have the nerve to kick a few dozen out for standing up, despite the fact that sitting down would result in frostbite. A terrible game in which nothing happened of note, except of course Gillingham nicking the only goal, and what was left of the traveling contingent were treated to several thousand wanker gestures from the ever sympathetic home support.

Fun times those.

Walsall 1-0 PNE Oct 2011

They scored with what I believe was the only shot on target in the whole game. Summed up by us getting a free kick 22 yards out just to the right of centre and trying to fucking cross it, only for it to go straight out for a goal kick. Closest I've ever come to leaving before the end.

Our 0-0 game up at Deepdale in League 1 must have ran it close, such a bad game that was.

Wednesday 0 - 0 Wolves the year we went down, was around late Jan early Feb I think as was snowing and took an age to walk to the ground through the park as it was treacherous, Wolves didn't have a shot on target till the 82nd minute and that was a tame left foot long range effort from Doyle.

Wednesday missed two sitters from set pieces which really summed up the total lack of quality on show. Jamie O'Hara was brought on and promptly ran over to Karl Henry to tell him that Saunders wanted O'Hara sitting deep and Henry pushed on, so we had a midfield 3 of Henry and Kevin Foley (a make shift CM and RB) attacking and O'Hara sat deep frustrated and we spent the day trying to go long to Ebanks-Blake. As I walked home I text'd my bro to say that he should put money on Wolves being relegated as I couldn't see them doing anything with Saunders in charge, think he got about 7-1 on us as we were still ahead of Wednesday in the league at that stage and looked fairly clear to an outsider.

I don't think it gets much worse than losing 8-0 at home to tin-pot Bournemouth.

Various 0-0's at the Ricoh.

We never have a good game there, unless I don't go of course :(

The 0-0 up there in 2011 was slightly better than the 0-0 in 2009. At least there were a few shots in the game in 2011.

a new one for me was merthyr 2-0 kings lynn last weekend, I have dislikes for both teams so was a neutral and the highlight of the game was when a kids football went on the pitch at the same end as an attack, get punted away by a defender after the attack was cleared, only to fall further on the pitch at the other end in the middle of a counter attack.

both goals were poor, Kings lynn managed 1 shot in the whole game, merthyr hardly any better, both teams just hoofing the ball forward with little success
