Having a glance through the threads on here and had to have a chuckle at the "decision" Woking had against them at the weekend, and thought a thread on classic National League refereeing moments would be a decent one. Post your favourite stories and clips in here if you have them.

One of mine must have been going back 10 years, Andy Mangan (can't remember who he played for at the time) was trying to get on the end of a massively over hit through ball and brushed the shoulder of our defender and proceeded to run what seemed like another ten yards, before realising he was getting nowhere near it and resultantly fell over. Penalty awarded, scored and we lost 1-0.

This wasn’t National League but worst refereeing performance I’ve ever seen was the twat we had away at Salford last season.
There is a 2 minute clip on Twitter somewhere of all the decisions that went against us that day and it’s just fucking ridiculous, and it was the same ref who did our home game with Salford too and he gave them 3 penalties that day.

Worst decision from non league I know most of our fans will say Ross Joyce in the play off final not sending off Bristol Rovers keeper but much as that was a shit decision that was a case of the ref bottling it and just not wanting to give out a red card, so the worst decision for me was away at Altrincham where we had a goal given against us, but Alty had a camera on the goal line and it showed that the ball barely got to the line let alone fully crossed it, and we lost that game 2-1.

Not NL either but 2018 Coventry away in the first leg of the playoffs and we’re 1-0 up, the ref just hands them a penally for fuck all in the 95th minute. Fucking wanker.

Lost the 2nd leg(more shit decisions) and hence we were at home to Wealdstone last night and they’re in the top 6 of the Championship. Life’s a butch.

The sheer breadth of key decisions that went against us over those two legs was amazing. Forte’s ‘offside’ equaliser in the second leg was even worse, he was about three yards onside.

Yeah my Counsellor gets sick of hearing about it. As does Kevin Nolan’s I suspect.

The infamous Woking ‘offside’ goal against Braintree and Guisley’s infamous goal against Braintree.

We got a penalty given against us at home versus Hyde when the attacking player pulled Brett Ormerod over and was given the penalty. Its about 20 seconds into this clip. Also right at the start a Wrexham player falls over for no reason.

The referee also sent one of our players off and gave them another very soft penalty in the 90th minute.

This is the standard of football we've had to watch for 14 years.

Trevor "Cockney Rhyming Slang" Lunt sending off two Dale players at Turf Moor. Fortunately, the Burnley team of that era were so inept we still won 1-0...

Skip to 1:06 here and see the penalty we were awarded at Swindon when Harry Cardwell tripped over his own feet.
We won 1-0 and this helped keep us up.

This was a pen given to Weymouth the other night, ball smashed at him front two yards away arm by his side, ref was on edge of box completely wrong side of it how he made the decision is baffling let alone it’s not a penalty.

Yes. The Tootle penalty decision was one of the worst I have ever seen, easily the worst since ref Mr P Don gave a penalty to Wolves for handball in ‘94 just seconds after Paul Cook had clearly handled it himself for the visitors.

It was compounded by the disallowment of Forte’s ‘equaliser’ in the 2nd leg at a time Coventry were teetering. Ah well.

Was he playing for Wrexham?

Mathias Pogba did exactly that for Wrexham, I think in injury time, at Holker Street. Most obvious dive I've seen in person.

Lee Mason sending off Derek Niven for us at home to Burton under the tenure of John Sheridan when he wasn't a joke. Whenever I see him reffing in the prem I snarl.

It was, Mangan was the one who scored the penalty. It's written in folklore that this was the moment Chipmunx's bitter rivalry began.

Found it on Youtube, I knew Chadwick was playing for us at the time so had a reasonable guess at the year. Skip to 2:30, slightly different from how I remember and obviously I've exaggerated it but the clearest/worst attempt at a dive you'll ever see, his fall to the ground wasn't even convincing. The liner runs that side as well so would have had a clear as day view.

I remember this. This and Coventry and Morecambe deciding to play out a goalless draw condemned us to relegation despite Martin Allen’s heroic firefighting.

Us against Posh last season, it’s about 1.40 into the clip. What made the whole thing worse was we could have still had a chance of auto promotion if we had beaten Peterborough.

I'm sure I've seen worse, but one that always sticks with me because of how costly it was.

Our relegation season 2007/2008, Macclesfield away. 2-1 up last 10 mins, Robbie Garrett tries to charge a clearance from Macc 'Keeper who strangely jumped on his back. Garrett shrugs him off, they have words but nothing nasty. Ref decides to book them both, Garrett already on a yellow gets sent off and we end up conceding twice in stoppage time to lose 3-2.

Ref was Lee Probert who ended up in the Prem, he'd been rubbish all day and pulled tongues at the Wrexham fans....I was Livid!

2.15 below you can see Garrett go for the charge down but the camera doesn't capture the 'incident'.

Top goalkeeping for both the injury time goals. :bl:

This one's easy for me: Oldham v Southend 2007, step forward Trevor Kettle.

Just before half time, in front of the away end, and right in front of where I was sitting, Garry Richards tackles Craig Davies, great tackle, ball goes out for a corner. Everyone knows it's a corner, even Davies who's got up, run over to the ball to put it on the corner spot. Not Trevor though, no, he's sprinting over and flourishes a red card. There wasn't even howls of derision coming out of the away end, just sheer bafflement and shouts of WHAT!
By this point Craig Davies is with Trevor saying, are you sending him off? you can't, he got the ball. We could hear this clearly from the away end, Trevor is saying, dangerous tackle. Craig says, it's just a corner mate, he got the ball. Trev is sticking to his guns though - no he's off. Just to add to it he said to Craig Davies to stop arguing or he'd book him!

we'd gone 1 up thanks to Leon Clarke (think it was his debut) and thankfully held on, actually think the decision helped us in a little way cos it was so laughable the team ran it's bollox off to win (oh for any of those players now!)
Unsurprisingly the decision was reversed on appeal.
