Another player missing for this game, Ryan Sellers was knocked out in injury time at Exeter and was apparently unconcious for around 30 seconds. Paul Hayes and Sam wood havn't recovered from injury and Anthony Stewart is out until Christmas. Cambridge havn't lost away yet so will be a tough game but i think we'll nick it 1-0.

Hope that '1' doesn't come in the first minute, or the poor Cambridge fans are in for the single worst game of their lives.

Heading along to this match. Wycombe fans, what's the best way to get from the station to the ground? I don't overly fancy the walk.

There is a bus shuttle service costing £3 return. I'll try and look up the times for you. Never used it myself as i come into town from the west when my mate occaisionally drives me from Somerset about 3 times per season.

Wicked, cheers guys. Presuming there is only one bus. Made the mistake at Colchester earlier in the season getting the wrong bus and ending up about 3 miles from the station...

It's the only one that stops right outside the train station.

..and back to the football. I wonder how many Red Kites will grace us with their presence this season - I counted over 20 (including those around bird tables) in total last year. Still pondering over pre-match options.

Wild-Red-Kites-at-Gigrin--001.jpg

I'm pretty sure (haven't a clue really) that we'll start with a back 5 and I'd like to see L Hughes alongside Berry in the midfield but he (or even MoM from Saturday, Connor Newton) will probably have to be on the bench. The rest will probably be very injury dependent - also recognising that we have a trip to York on Saturday.

Injury uncertainties include Omozusi, Coulson, Donaldson, Dunk and Corr. Chiedozie may have earned a start but more likely he and Gaffney will be on the bench. Slew and Carr seem (rightly) out of favour. If Dunk is (hopefully) fit to start then I can see us drifting from a smothering 5-4-1 /5-5-0 to a dashing 4-2-4 as we bring Donaldson, Gaffney and Chiedozie on to chase the game.

0 - 0 is a definite possibility. I'll go for 1 - 1, more in hope than expectation. I know a few regulars who are not travelling so perhaps we'll struggle to top 500 despite taking 640 to Kingston/Wimbledon a few weeks back.

This is one game where I'd like us to play defensively like we generally have been (but at the wrong times), so no doubt we'll come out all guns blazing and lose by 3 or 4. Be very happy with a point.

We only took 400 on a Saturday last season so wouldn't expect many more, Wycombe's an odd one as it's not that far but it's one of the furthest of the masses of "close" games we have this season, with it being on a Tuesday as well I can see why people would opt not to do this one (for those who pick and choose anyway). Enjoyed it last year though, decent ground and a good little set up overall, just a shame it's so far out of town, do you still have that beer tent up outside the away end?

The beer tent was there for the egg chasers, so I'd assumed it has gone and was planning my pre-match around a return visit to the Hourglass - although I understand that the club has food and beer available to away supporters in the Supporters Club.

This looks very tough on paper but I'm feeling optimistic after our win on Saturday and a big boost of players to the squad. Corr trained today apparently and to have him on the bench should give the players a lift.

Wycombe are flying but lost their last home game. We haven't lost away so I'm going to stick my neck out and say 1-1.

Just saw on Wycombe's website that buses leave the train station at 17-50 and 16-50, not sure about coming back you'll have to ask the driver.

So the bad news is that I've been on holiday and missed our last two games, including our defensive inpregnability and our last minute winner on Saturday (still celebrated it like a loon in Mexico mind - the Yanks had no idea what was going on ;-) ).

But the good news is I landed at 8 this morning into Gatwick, got back to Cambridge at 11ish and have just boarded our supporters coach (2nd time ever). I'm jetlagged to fuck as I've had literally no sleep but I'm on my way and well up for it. Never been to Wycombe before so new ground for me to tick off.

As for the game, I think we're in for a tough game tonight and I fully expect a defeat. We're unbeaten away in the league so far this season so you never know. That said, a 0-0 draw would be very welcome.

On the bus back now, cheers for the information lads.

Wycombe will get promoted, don't think they're anything special going forwards - albeit without Hayes - but there isn't better defensive unit than Wycombe's in this league. Pierre, Jacobson and Harriman are all stand out, I've seen how good Ingram is as well. Jombarti I'm still undecided on, seems a bit clumsy to me, although basing this more on Barnet and Orient games; he was excellent today.

And what a strike from Harriman, excellent. It was a clear penalty, was disappointed how Cambridge dealt with the pace of Holloway and Ugwu.

Ps, word on the street is a premier league team are looking at one of your players.

Roberts wants hanging for that header back to Dunn, just made Dunn a sitting duck. No idea whether it was a foul (and where it was) as it was about 100 yards away but apparently our commentators agreed with the decision.

Thereafter there was only going to be one winner. Cracking strike to win it.

I have now seen Wycombe twice since we've been back in the league and I'm not particularly overwhelmed by them. I mean, if you like game management, and to a point "ref management" then they're excellent. But that's not my bag thank you.

Oh well, write off and move on.

Well not that it's anything to do with me (ie not trying to gain some pathetic reflected glory) but if you are up the right end of the table then other clubs are always going to look at your players, and we are a selling club.

If players go they go. You may be referring to Ingram to Villa, but who knows.

Re. The Cambridge fan saying we're not that great, no, we're not. The game management crap is depressing but I suspect is unlikely to be changed as long as we're doing well.

Re. Luke O'Nien, I've only seen one game myself this season so can't offer a fair opinion, but he has had generally positive reviews.

First 25 minutes it was a cracking game of football, so open, then we steadied the ship a bit and Wycombe had a couple of decent chances and probably edged it but we were doing well and it was all to play for second half.

Game would've changed if Simpson had buried that chance at the start of the second half but clearly we ended up regretting it not going in. I don't think it's a penalty, the striker seems to kick it against Dunn who "saves" it and then the players momentum takes him into Dunn, having said that, I can see why it was given in real time, it doesn't look good and it happened very quick, and if it's a foul it has to be a red. Liked the sub before the penalty, terrible penalty. Wycombe were relentless after that and had a couple of very good chances, we then completely wasted our last two subs in using them far too early and making baffling changes. No problem with Taylor coming on to go back to 5 at the back but not to replace Omozusi (absolutely pointless), and then bringing Donaldson on to play as a lone striker up front, dropping Simpson back into midfield who was leading the line really well again, bizarre. Two minutes later they score, terrible clearance (again) by Roberts, but an outstanding strike. Because of our commitment to using all our subs we were buggered really from then on and never really threatened, which was not surprising.

I don't have an issue with the way Wycombe play, just win the game, it's up to the officials to stop it, they know they won't and they play it very well, fair play, I'd rather be in their shoes than ours right now. Ref was dire overall, so pedantic against both sides, was always going to play into someone's hands eventually.

Thought Dunn did well when he was on, Beasant's kicking was atrocious and he nearly let a cross shot float right over him. Hughesy did well apart from his standard couple of poor Hollywood balls, Omozusi average again and Roberts the only really poor one, Donaldson never got in the game when he came on (apart from one half chance which wouldn't come down) but I blame the system for that one not him this time.

Not overly disappointed with the result last night but we are still a long way off, that late goal on Saturday really helped gloss over some of the deficiencies we still have. We have to look to win at York on Saturday with a couple of tough home games coming up after that.

It was Taft with the poor header back to Dunn.

Immediately after the match, and even after the sending off, I was feeling fairly philosophical about having to play most of the second half with 10 men and a 1 - 0 loss. Having heard from a few Wycombe fans with a better view and seen a twitter feed video, "We Wuz Robbed!!" ............but probably only of the chance of an away point and keeping the unbeaten away run going.

We had shown (surprise, surprise) that we are more than comfortable defending with a back 5 and had a fair bit of the play and chances in the first 35 minutes - but Barry Corr looks better and better the more matches he misses. I was surprised how many chances Wycombe created when we were playing with 10 men but thought that fate was on our side with the pathetic penalty and two shots/ crosses that hit the woodwork.

We had opportunities for a goal and probably a draw in the first half and even at the death - if luck or Corr/Gaffney had been on the end of them who knows? the dream lives on that we have a top 10 side once we get Corr back and Gaffney/Chiedozie get up to speed. On to Bootham Crescent.

Red Kite count was 9 (plus 2 buzzards) coming through the Chilterns from Aylesbury. I went via MK to avoid the A1/M25 and found it a much more relaxing, interesting and fuel efficient route. The Hourglass was up to snuff again and the pitch was as good as I've seen this season, including the Abbey.

Just watched the highlights on player. I know you can't get a true reflection of a game in a 10 minute clip but it looked like we created some decent chances and on another day would have scored more, we desperatly need Paul Hayes fit again especially as he's our main penalty taker but Thompson took the job last night  Matt Ingram had a quiet night in goal and i need to watch it again to make up my mind about the sending off but it was a penalty and if the ref gives it i suppose he had no choice but to give a red card, like i said i'll look at it again later.

It would be a waste of a promotion spot if Wycombe were to go up this season.

probably, yep, but who thinks, "whoops, better not even bother trying to get promoted, we'd only come straight back down", even if it's true?

Taft wants hanging then.
I blame our poor heading in recent matches on the fact that most of the team are displaying either sweaty glabrous melon heads or excessive dollops of product.
