Yes it is but Moore/Pearce weren't even given a chance here.

It's not even about not having individuals, our side does look good but put them together and collectively they've been shite.

Usually then it's poor management, or the players you have are bad personalities / team players

Stevie Warnock by a mile so far. Only other player that deserves to be mentioned in the same discussion is Yanic. Everyone else has been rubbish so not many options.

Amazed he's doing well for you in a back three, was all over the place when he played for us last season but I suppose he's reaping the rewards of actually having a half decent midfield infront of him this season. Fair play to him.

A little surprised as he was terrible for us in the Championship, looked erratic and couldn't win a header.

But for us, he has been great. There is no way we will keep Moore or Swift beyond next season, but as they are both young and English we should get good money for them.

When we were in League 1, he was amazing for us on loan (this was before he has broken through at Leicester) and we almost managed to get a permanent deal then.

Then when we got him back in the Championship, he looked awful, well worse than any other player we had on the books at the time.

I suspect you are correct and he just had a terrible attitude to loans once he'd already been previously established at Leicester. Having said that, no chance either way he'll be a starter in the PL any time soon.

Not saying he's not a bad player or anything, but there is a huge gulf of class between being decent at midtable/top half Champ club to staring in one of the best defences/midfields in world football. Injuries may have halted his progress but if he was really that good I doubt Chelsea would have flogged him to you on a freebie. Remember him having a spell at Forest, not sure if he was any good there mind.

They fucked up selling Matic and brought him back 12 months later for 30 odd mill, can't see Sam Hutchinson doing the same.

Again you're missing the point, he was released by Chelsea to further his career, as you say he wouldn't have got game due to their squad but the point was his injuries cost him so much time out of the game, so much experience missed that he didn't reach the heights that Chelsea or he expected.

Think of how many youngesters go through the same. A team like Chelsea can hand pick any player from any youth team in the country, all of them are probably hyped up to be 'the new John Terry' or whatever. The majority end up leaving Chelsea without playing a game for whatever reason, whether it being injury related or just not making the cut. I could bore you with stories at Wolves on players who've have built up some incredible imaginary portfolio of being some world class wonderkid, and then turning out to be absolute shit.

I remember having a talk with SERNWA about it. That Tom Thorpe lad who they signed from Man Utd was getting rave reviews, think he was their captain in the u21's yet when he went to Rotherham he was worse than the shit they already had.

Maybe i'm underestimating your Hutchinson, and maybe he is as good as you say he is, but thousands of footballers get labeled with 'the new x player' tag and 99% of the time fail to live up to it. It's one thing looking good in our league, but another to step up for a team like Chelsea who is showered with world class players.

I think if there is one thing football fans don't do well it's player appraisal. You only have to look at Bournemouth, who took much of their L1 promotion squad into the Premier League last season: how many people really thought they'd step up? There is so much going on behind the scenes that we don't see, yet most people (myself inc) are adamant that their evaluation is spot on despite the fact that we barely even see a fraction of what these players are capable of even if we are ST holders that go home and away.

Sam Hutchinson has been phenomenal this season, I know what the other wednesdayites on here are saying and understand why people are disagree and the truth is we'll never know but I don't think many players retire from the game for a couple of years and then come back as good as he has, so I can see why people say 'just how far could he have gone'.

We were crying out for him in midfield earlier in the season but he was playing really well at centre half, since we've moved him back into midfield he's just gone up another level, I can't remember the last game I watched when I didn't come away saying he was the best player on the pitch today.

Ben Pearson is too good for us, he's got everything you would want in a central midfielder.

Lost count of the amount of players he's had in his back pocket this season.

I'd be disgusted if he doesn't break the £6m we got for David Nugent in the current market.

We all like to big up our own players, but unlike fans of other clubs we see them play every week and so see their qualities match by match. I get what you mean with Hutchinson but I don't think suggesting Hourihane could interest a few lower half Prem teams is unreasonable. Based on goals, assists and overall contribution (there is a source for this but I cba to find it, statto or something) he's among the best in the division.

Yeah he looked good when playing for us, got injured against Fulham in September and has been out ever since. Be interesting to see where we'd be if we had him available every week. O'Dowda played really well that game as well, hence why I asked in one of the matchday threads why he's not been playing for you. Can't be a coincidence that you've tailed off without him.
