I've gone for Donny purely based on their insane end of season form, and if they fail I think they will be the team to beat in L2 next season for sure.

I don't have a clue. MK as fourth placed should go up but you can't write any team off. My head and preference says MK so that we don't have to play them next season. The romantic ones would be Crawley as everyone had them down as relegation favourites and Doncaster were in 22nd place in early February. Both clubs have gone above and beyond what was expected.

Bloody hell, our most important match of the season and I have to go to London to fetch my daughter rather than sit in a pub watching it. Oh well, I shall not, no I won't look at the score until 5 pm. Honest.

Sold 8,000 ish home tickets. With Crawley bringing 2,000 (assuming they sell out), and with a good result today in the away leg, should be looking at a 12,000-13,000 crowd I would have thought for Thursday.

As for the matches themselves, this stat from Sky says it all about my confidence.
  • “MK Dons are featuring in their sixth different play-off campaign, failing to reach the final in any of their previous five (2006-07, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12 & 2021-22). It’s the most different play-offs a team has played in without ever once reaching a final.“

Think you need to get your priorities straight.

It's even worse for you lot with Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and, especially in Essex, West Ham thrown in too!

Colchester is predominantly Ipswich, West Ham and Tottenham I would say, then Arsenal and Chelsea, then your typical population of Man United and Liverpool. Strangely, as you head further east away from London and into Tendring around Clacton etc I think it gets even worse for West Ham and Tottenham.

Even see quite a fair number of kids around wearing Man City shirts these days which is depressing.

One striking thing is how poor the defensive records are of all the PO sides and also their low GD's, got to be the lowest combined GD's for many years?

Just had a look at the table and never realised how far ahead the top three are in GD’s too

Before our loss of form we had a +16 GD. Problem is we scored 5 goals in the last 2 months and conceded at least three times as much which is an unfair reflection on a defence thats often performed well but badly been let down by us firing a blank in far too many games this season.

Our last two games of the season (admittedly dead rubbers) finished 3-5 and 4-4. 9-7 champions baby.

Either the game at Crawley will get called off (tinpot) or we will be looking at 11 a side water polo this afternoon which will make things interesting.

Utterly embarrassing. Game off due to waterlogged pitch. Fans already on the way, just over 3 hours to kick off.

We should win the play-off semi final on the basis of absolute tinpottery and shite communication from CTFC.

That's definitely a new one for a playoff game. Unless they're now going to also re-schedule the 2nd leg going to be a bit of a nightmare to fit this game in.

We do have a decent pitch but it has been bucketing it down here. Beeb now saying thunderstorms at kick off time...you gotta love British summer.

Both teams prefer to play a passing game so this really could be a farce today.

No diving allowed. :woot: and no, no fishing either :fish:

I would imagine our home game on Thursday will also move (as it should) as otherwise where’s our advantage gone of finishing 4th? Does also mean that unless they move the final (which I doubt they can), we will end up having less time to prepare for it compared to Doncaster or Crewe (assuming we get there obviously). What a farce.

Hold off five minutes Jim.

You can't help the weather but this is aggravating!

Have a look at beeb weather page for rh10. I'm sorta glad I don't have to go out.

Just looking at the forecast and it looks as though god is taking the piss! Rain stops at 5pm!

No one will believe me at the minute but we do have a decent pitch so it should drain pretty quickly.

No idea how this is going to pan out but at a guess play the game tomorrow that way the tv schedule for Thursday can still go ahead. The alternative is Tuesday or Wednesday and the second leg on Saturday.

How quickly? Hours? Any chance they can play tonight? Sorry if it's a daft question.

I'd love old school terracing back, I'd love the possibility for fans to take over 10,000 fans away like they did back in the day for big games (Sunderland at Maine Road comes to mind in the 90s) and almost limitless attendances but it's not going to happen for a variety of reasons is it? Most notably plod, health and safety and logistics of it all.

If we're selling tickets in three stands for our own fans and Doncaster have far more than we were legally required to give them in the first place, where do we put them? It's impossible to put them anywhere.

Like I said, they should be grateful Nevitt scored in the last minute last week else another 1100 of them would be enjoying the game within the confines of a pub or their living room.

They've been given an entire side stand, which is the second biggest stand in the ground. It's insane to suggest they should be given any more than that.
Fair enough, I thought the allocation had been slashed more than it has. I do however really dislike this notion that the minimum a side is able to give is becoming the norm and being accepted more and more. I realise it's not always as black and white as this, due to away allocations often being split between stands, but I also think that clubs should have to offer for a playoff match in the regular season what they ordinarily offer in the season. We do it now as well, only offering the clubs that always sell BP out (Bradford, Donny, Mansfield, Chesterfield now they're back) 1100 when they should get 1800 and it doesn't sit well with me. The ones that leave half an away stand empty are the worst for me though.
