Congrats to both Stockport on winning the league and Mansfield on promotion. Enjoyed our games vs both teams this season. Hopefully we will see you next season, but given our injuries and horrid form it's probably unlikely.

It's fine. I just don't really see Crewe as a rival of any sort so seems a bit odd. I guess you're moderately local to us.

When I started going in the early 90s, all Crewe fans would have said they saw you as big rivals. I know you cared more about Chester but the games against you in those days were always pretty nasty. It's probably similar to how younger Alex fans feel about Vale.

The games against you lot were good in the 90s. But I think we mainly cared about singing rude songs about Robbie Savage than anything else.

Can't blame you for that

Actually I vividly remember a game at Gresty Road on Boxing Day 1995. It was 0-0 and a very dull game but it sticks in the mind as the coldest I've ever been at a football match. The closest I've come was in the FA Trophy final at Wembley a few years back but nothing will ever be as cold as Crewe that day.

The top 3 are set in stone. Stockport worthy champions, finishing well above the average. Wrexham and Mansfield too, deservedly promoted and now fighting it out for 2nd place.

In the POs, MK Dons are locked into 4th, so they just need to wait and see who finishes 7th now. Every other spot is wide open because the teams trying to get into them are tragic, Donny aside. Crewe and Barrow lose again, Crawley sneak a point at Sutton.

Donny close the gap and are now outside the top 7 on goal difference. We've lost Gillingham and Wimbledon, who are eliminated from contention. But in their place, with slim chances, are Walsall and Bradford. Walsall need a miracle in terms of favourable results, but it's still possible. Same for Bradford, who need to start by beating Barrow on Tuesday.

Tuesday 23rd April
Barrow
v Bradford City
Colchester United v Doncaster Rovers

2 huge games on Tuesday. Bradford know they need a win to have any hope of finishing in the top 7. Barrow need a win ahead of a tough game with Mansfield next Saturday, knowing a win will secure their PO spot.

Donny know a win takes them into the top 7. Win by 2 goals and they go to 6th. Win and Barrow draw/defeat and they go 5th. What a rise they've had.

The fact we’ve a week to go and could face any of 6 teams in the semi finals is mental really.

I’ve gone now from actively hoping Doncaster mess up somewhere out of not wanting to play them to hoping they get into 6th place instead.

Easy to say when it’s not a mansfield problem, but if doncaster make it i sooooo wouldn’t want to play them in the playoffs.

Barrow vs bradford is absolutely HUGE!

If Donny win by a few on Tuesday, it makes things very interesting at both ends of the table.

Fucking Bradford can still claim a playoff place?

Happy for their long suffering fans and everything but how bad is this league.

At 3.40 today it was a complete dead rubber. Suppose that’s why it’s the best sport in the world. Most bizarre afternoon of football involving us in many years.

We did Sky Sports a favour beating Gillingham today, that’s not a team to make an exciting play-off.

Doncaster were in your relegation table on Feb 24th, and in your promotion table going into the last game of the season, any other team ever done that?

Donny and Bradford could overtake Barrow and Crawley which would be quite funny as Bradford fans have been moaning all season.

A Barrow supporting acquaintence - AKA the nicest oppo supporter I know - was having a wobble on twitter earlier.

If we manage it, we'll be the worst side to ever finish in the top 7.

Crewe?!

6 sides in there with a chance and barely in positive goal difference. Odd.

Probably not.

I remember Palace had some amazing run but they were mid table ish.

Bolton went on a mad run in 2021 and ended up making automatic promotion in the end too.

We've fucked it, just can't see how we get a win based off how the last five games have gone. The only thing that's in our favour is that we are at home.

Has there been a year where this hasn’t happened to a Wild team?

Never seen Wrexham as one either and I'm pushing 30. Until this season we finished above you 29 seasons on the spin so I always thought if we ever played Wrexham again it'd be a non league fixture due to your perennial ineptitude or a lucky cup draw. Of course, the takeover happened and those thoughts were soon quashed.

Only get joy out of the Clayheads (both of them) fucking up and even then I have respect for Vale as their fans could've taken the easy way out and supported Stoke. Rest are local games to me. Barely spent time in the same division as the other local sides with Tranmere maybe being an exception.

Always been the Welsh lot then the Clayheads for me. I never even used to mind Vale that much but recent games against them have been pretty horrible. Chester were as well for a while but I've pretty much forgotten about them because they've been playing in Sunday league for so long with no hope of a return.

We've never had any proper rivals though, because the teams we dislike care more about someone else.
