So Exeter complete a hatrick of East Midlands opposition in the league Saturday against the stags. Having lost to top of the league Lincoln and heavily beating bottom of the league county, they face us, right, smack bang in 12th (though with a game in hand) draw then?

Both games against Exeter last season were close, with us drawing 1-1 at field mill and Mansfield winning 1-0 down at the proper St. James’s.

Exeter don’t seem to have really suffered the loss of Paul tisdale, and have started well, whereas Mansfield have 7 points out of 9 at home. Another close one - I see maybe either side winning by a single goal.

Safe trip for this for those coming up

My last trip to your place was the one where we scored a nailed on  injury time penalty. Another one like that will do me fine.

Dont think you will find our defenders to be quite as accomodating as notts were going for a narrow stags win

We need to start taking the chances that we seem to have created by the bucket load in every game apart from Macclesfield and arguably Colchester.

We had about 20 last time our against Carlisle and our only goal ended up being a penalty. Exeter will punish us if we don’t. I’m going 3-2 to us

We had it last season too, which was baffling. Exeter was a prime example. Drew 1-1 at home, they scored late on, we should have had 3 or 4 and been on cruise control. As you mentioned, it’ll be the difference between a tilt at the top 3 or playoffs

You must've been at a different 1-1 draw to me. We controlled that game and deserved to win. I'd be pretty confident without getting up the stats we had more possession and more shots on goal than you.

Tough one to call, this. Despite County being in a state, we still put in a good performance last week and scoring 5 will do wonders for our confidence. I expect we will stick with the same system that should allow more midfield freedom to Boateng and Law which is key for us to do well here.

Mansfield have a decent squad and recruited some top players for this level. We will need to be solid defensively to keep Rose, Walker, Khan, Davies etc quiet so we need to be on our A game.

I was thinking back and can’t recall too many defeats at Field Mill but I’d be delighted with a draw here this weekend so I will predicated a 1-1 draw. Rose to score in the first half and we will blag a 95th minute goal off Pierce Sweeney’s arse. 283 travelling Grecians to make the trip.

A draw would suit me. Interesting to see which Exeter turns up.

The game last season? It showed you had about as many shots on target as us, you had about 7 pea rollers from 20 yards. We missed sitter after cross after sitter etc - which was our own fault I suppose.I remember your manager saying how fortunate you were

I presume maybe you got last season mixed up with another game. Though disdale said you were lucky, maybe you were one of those who wanted him out?

Given you reaction and mine, and the earlier post, I’m assuming the poster in question didn’t go

Checking the stats, confirms what I said. We had more shots on goal and more possession.

I do remember you having a couple of ridiculously mental efforts from miles out when you couldn't break our defence down.

I remember getting back on the train with my mates, annoyed that we only got a point. Which is extremely rare considering we got a very late equaliser. You'd normally expect that to feel like a win. It didn't.

Did you go? You nicked a point from a 87th minute goal - nothing wrong with that, it was a game where we just did not put away our chances.

Let’s put a end to fake news ;)
I'm afraid your link conveniently isn't linked to any match thread.

I don't need a matchday thread to demonstrate what happened. I was there, the stats clearly back up my memory, and not yours. The only other chance you had to score was when Deano cleared it off the line.

I go Stags games quite a bit and as it happens i was at both the Exeter games the last twice. The one where the Greeks came back from the dead to score a late equaliser then a Reid penno in the last minute. Also i was at the 1-1 draw and as a neutral i have to back up Conkers post here. Exeter were pretty shocking for much of the game and created next to nothing. I believe Holmes came on as sub late on and this gave them an outlet which was missing all game for them and they immediately looked more dangerous and obviously they got the late leveller out of nothing which IMO wasn't deserved on the overall assessment of the match.

Mansfield were no Real Madrid but they were certainly far superior to Exeter in that 1-1 game IMO.

Might go to this game as it happens.

Yeah, we were definitely the better team that day.

I’ll depend on you for a neutral view for saturday then mate as I cannot make it unfortunately!

I wasn’t there but I remember from the commentary that we were under a lot of pressure during the game last season and the less said about how we played in the home game the better where we barely got into the Mansfield box.

This weekend we need to be solid as will probably need to soak up a lot of pressure I’d imagine. Should be a tight game and I’m hoping Jonathan Forte will be back on the bench to potentially bring on for the final 30 when the game is perhaps more stretched.

I was there, I'm starting to think you weren't? The stats speak for themselves, and completely back up mine, and the majority of Grecians at the game that day.

But na, of course I didn't go. If that makes you sleep better at night pal, crack on.

Erm maybe you should actually read the match thread? What about the neutral view on here, plus the match reports? It's stacked against you, let's not be noncy about this

Even Exeter match report goes against what you are saying:lol:

Paul Tisdale disagrees with you too, https://www.devonlive.com/sport/football/mansfield-town-1-exeter-city-695742

Are you Mansfield based then mate? Commiserations if you’ve ended up here, Us that are born here grow up with it and learn to love the place but can’t imagine it’s the same if you’ve found yourself here

I was gonna travel to this but now unfortunately I have to work instead. F.M.L.

Hope it's a 0-1 away win via a Pierce Sweeney penalty and everyone is bored to tears.

Not far off. I'm from just the wrong side of the M1 / A617 as far as Stags fans are concerned but i also spend a lot of time Rotherham way also. Go to Mansfield a lot for water meadows with the kid and also go to a few Stags games when i can get. I like Field Mill. One of the best views from the away end in the lower leagues too.

Mansfield ain't that bad mate. Some cracking places nearby too like Sherwood Forest / Pines, Rufford, Clumber, Hardwick, Creswell Crags etc. I even took the kid to that go karting place near Center Parcs not so long back. Amen Corner i think it's called and enjoyed that. Karting is just soooooooo NOT me. :eyes:
