If I'm being very kind, it was a strange bounce.

Keepers had a shocker there, Rashford is unreal though. That's killed it off now, looks like comfortable passage for United.

That was ideal - a win with a few goals to get the confidence back up a bit and Rooney again underperforming and not scoring hopefully meaning he won't play at the weekend.

Easy win against Crystal Palace. Jake Hesketh by far the best player on the pitch, took his goal well.

Don't be silly he's undroppable.

Good comfortable win over Palace with a few youngsters in the team and as Jamie said Hesketh looked very good.

What a finish from an impossible angle by the lad, shades of Marco Van Basten.

We've only gone and drawn Manchester City.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Lots of changes but a decent win by all accounts. Good to see a handful of young lads involved, especially with Garcia scoring.

A bit of a worry that Kompany just vanished. Hope he's not injured again. That'll be it for him, if he is.

Then the owners of the stadium are at fault.
Ps, West Ham United are not the owners of the stadium.

Not many upsets or surprises in round 3, only really Preston's win at Bournemouth and Norwich beating Everton the stand out ones, all the big guns through with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs making it into round 4. Quite an exciting 4th round draw with the Mamchester derby obviously the pick of the bunch, West Ham V Chelsea should be a cracker too.

Spurs will probably play weaker team since they are in CL. Klopp will probably play a strong side but not as strong as earlier round. Need to give the likes of Klavan, Origi, Ings some game time. We should win this comfortably.

Is Ings back fit again?

He has been fit for a while but hasn't made the squad for league games. Most of the time we got Sturridge and Origi on bench, especially when Firmino is starting as false 9. Having 3 strikers on bench would be unnecessary.

He has been playing U-21 games but he wasn't in the squad for the latest game so he should get a chance in the League cup.

Newcastle away tomorrow night.

This is a bit of a rarity amongst English football fans but i'd actually prefer a win in the cup than in the league on Saturday (both preferably). I don't think we've ever been in the quarter finals of the cup in my lifetime and our recent run of results mean we can lose on Saturday and not be sucked back into the relegation pack.

I don't know how Newcastle will be treating this game but they can probably make eleven changes and still have a side capable of promotion from the Championship, their squad is insane for our level; Shelvey, Perez, Gayle, Mitrovic, Gouffran, Mvemba... I think their bench on Saturday cost them £30m+

As for us we will make changes but I don't know how many, the goal machine Alex Baptiste is cup-tied, as is Vermijl which means we have no right backs, so 5-3-2 with Humphrey playing wing back seems certain. Pearson is on 4 yellows and might not be risked and we could see some other players rotated, Makienok has to play after his exploits in the previous round.

Complete guess at a team:

Maxwell
Clarke, Huntington, Wright
Humphrey, Browne, Grimshaw, Pringle, Spurr
Doyle, Makienok

1-1, penalties, Paul Huntington with our goal.
