Newport are flying and will be tough to beat, especially at Rodney Parade where they have been strong so far this season. We have had a break as we didn't play last weekend so should be fresh as daisies and we'll need to be on that pitch. Sometimes a break can be a detrimental thing and we'd been in superb form prior to it so i'm hoping it doesn't disrupt the flow we were steadily getting into. We've got character in the side now. We've got a work ethic and togetherness. We've got superb organisation. We've got plenty of pace and trickery going forward. We've got belief. The only thing that could scupper us is lack of discipline but we seem to have ironed that out since the opening day carnage at Bury.

Yeah. We'll win this game. Why the hell not?!

I'm not going as it's too far from Yorkshire in the time i have so will have to wait until Cheltenham for my next away game. Hopefully there will be more travelling Glovers than the 70 odd at Grimsby given it's a lot closer to Somerset.

Smashing the exiles out of sight! Half time and the mighty Glovers are 3 goals to the good! Unbelievable Jeff. Gutted to not be there.

Biggest L2 away win since Lincoln 0-6 Rotherham in March 2011! Wow!

Not quite sure what went wrong with Newport today but like Simpo says. Wow! That's the only word i can use to describe that.

I wasn't there today although 430 Glovers were which was a huge improvement on 78 at Grimsby probably because of the distance, but we look a bloody good side this season and all over the pitch. Not conceded a goal now for about 6 games.

Amazing result and a great effort from everyone today!

Safe to say I wasn't expecting that! We had been terrible in our last 3 visits to Newport, but today we were excellent. We attacked with pace with Green, DJ and Arquin all giving the Newport's back-line the runaround, and we are so solid at the back, and haven't in 5 league games (and one in the check-a-trade). But that being said some of Newport's defending was atrocious and the keeper had a stinker, Greens first and Dickinson's free kick were some of the worst goals I've seen.

Finally a great atmosphere in the away end, it's not been this fun watching Yeovil in a very long time!

Hard to judge Yeovil today as we were absolutely pathetic. -1 out of 10 Yes thats how bad we were
They do however look organised, hard working have bags of pace and have loads of team togetherness.
Tore our usual 'hard to break down defence a new one today

I think that's a bit harsh on us Neilcork68 however anyone whose team gets beat 6 is going to comment on how badly their side played so i take your point.

I just think the character we have shown this season has been immense. Opening day and 2 men sent off and to top it off a last minute Bury winner and you could be forgiven for thinking that a poor start to the season was on the cards but since then we should have knocked Villa out of the cup but missed a penalty, we've held Mansfield and then gone 5 league games without conceding including hammerings away at Notts County, Newport and a different kind of win at Grimsby. We also held Exeter to a 0-0 in the mickey mouse trophy.

We look really strong all over tbh and comfortable dealing with any type of game at the moment and long may it continue. Of course it's early days but it's been a dream start.

I am not saying anything other than we were totally outplayed by a much better side on the day. In every department you were bar far the better side today and totally dominated the game. Having said that we were totally abject today so its hard to judge how well you played.
We couldn't string two passes together, had one shot on target ( from 25 yards ) and seemed as though we were wearing lead boots.
You played VERY WELL but were totally shocking and never put up any opposition. Whether that was because you were so good or us being crap.
Good luck for the rest of the season and on that showing you will win far more than you will lose. We , surely cant play that poor again

I fear for us if we do

Fair play to Yeovil, I had them down as a bottom 6 team but Way has built a seemingly very good team from players that, on paper, look fairly ordinary.

Long way to go but they may be a surprise package this season. It’s even more impressive considering I had Newport down as a very solid team...

Cheers Neilcork68. There's no doubt that we both agree that Newport are a far better side then they showed today and hopefully for you it will be a one off freak result and you can get back to form.

You are still in a very good position in the league so that's a positive. :)

What is the secret behind Yeovil’s sudden solidity this season? How we could use a bit of that...

Opposition strikers being so shite. :woo:

In all seriousness i think it's just that they are well drilled, they understand one another better, they seem fitter and the desire to work hard for each other and to battle for every ball is clearly apparent. It's worth mentioning the movement we have in the midfield and out wide as that certainly helps the defence as we are able to break quickly and we don't tend to sit deep with a static, cumbersome midfield.

Fisher up top also is a great outlet and holds the ball up really well to enable all our pacy attack minded players to flourish. So i guess it's the whole team contributing in different ways that contributes to helping the defence also.

Probably get pumped 6 nil ourselves now next game after posting that.

If you've got pace and trickery out wide you'll score plenty next week as well, don't worry about that.

Just seen the goals and couldn't stop laughing. By and large absolutely shocking comedy defending by Newport although we still had to put them away and keep them out at the other end which we did.

Wow, thought our defending had been bad recently...

Love how the Newport players walk away in disgust after the free kick goes in!

In our relegation season, Joe Day gave one of the best keeping performances in a 0-0 at Preston Park and at that time was thought might go on to better things. Presume this was just a bad day at the office for him?

Darren Way deserves a fair bit of praise. The ex director said he wasn't up to it I believe, not seen many fans singing his praises and in players like Dickenson and Arquin he isn't working with the best, Notts had them both, Dicko, a good pro but slow and limited and Arquin, classy but often didn't seem to fancy it. You also played him out wide against us, we stuck him in the middle and he always hung deep and didn't engage the centre halves. Much better tactic by Way playing him as a wide man in a three.I
Thought you were as excellent as we were abysmal at our place and am not surprised to see you carrying it on.

Not the first time Newport have chucked in a random horror show at home, remember us winning 5-0 at RP the year they got promoted to L2.

Said at the start of the season that I wouldn't be shocked to see Yeovil do well, they've got some quality players. Might even be an outside bet for top 3.

I agree totally with this. While we do have an improved budget, I wouldn't have said we have anything more than a mid-table squad on paper, but we have a balance and consistency that has been lacking for a long time.

Way has come in for a lot of criticism in the past couple of seasons, with a lot of it fair, but he seems to have learnt from his mistakes and you can't fault his recruitment or tactics so far this year. There is a section of our fanbase that will always want him out, but he's gone a long way to convincing many of the doubters that he is the right man for the job.

Interesting run coming up with Swindon, MK and Exeter in the next few games, it should tell us a lot as to whether this team can have genuine ambitions for a top 7 finish.

It took us until January to get 14 points a couple of years ago!

One of those freak games where one team gets absolutely everything wrong and the other team gets it all right. Yeovil are a strong, well-organised side with bags of pace up front and, on Saturday Way got his tactics against us absolutely spot on. They completely outfought and overran us in midfield and that was where the game was won and lost. It wasn't just our keeper, who HAS been excellent all season, who had a bad day; there were mistakes made all over the pitch.

We are not as bad as this result suggests, neither are we as good as our league position suggests. However I am certain will continue to make progress under Mike Flynn and he will learn a lot from that performance. I always like it when a team punches above its weight and I think Yeovil have the potential to do that this season, but it is a long season and we've not played ten games yet. On that evidence they shouldn't concede many goals but their strikers will not get an easier game all season. We made Jordan Green look like Messi. When he was with us a few seasns back he did an awful lot of running around with very little end product. If we have any anything about us, we will bounce back.

Well done Yeovil, thought your fans were excellent on Saturday and it must have been an excellent awayday. Just a shame that it was at our expense. Good luck for the rest of the season.
