If the Aussies beat Bangladesh tomorrow you might as well not bother with the rest of the group stages, the semi-finalists will be all but secured

Just a case of who plays who out the 4 now it seems.

Not too bothered where we finish at this point, don't think there's a huge amount between any of us really. Us and India maybe a half-tier above but Aus and NZ well capable of beating either on their day

Same here, we know were capable of a bad game. Might be best of getting India or the Aussies in the semis to make sure were fully focused.

Shame for the tournament that the top four are so far ahead in terms of quality, should increase it to 16 and have two groups of 8.

The top 4 in this would still be the 4 teams to go through, best format this I reckon, personally dont think New Zealand are as good as the other 3 just probably better than the rest.

I agree, but two groups would widen the appeal, make it a bit quicker for the casual fan (which I am) and open the possibility of more upsets.

The biggest problem with that though is having enough countries to host the number of matches.

Without fail every single James Vince innings is the same, hit some nice boundaries looking like he belongs at the top level then gets out. Rinse and repeat.

Hes not got it simple as that, hes had more chances than any player in history and constantly fails, shame about hales because that's what made us incredible starters, the choice of Jonny, Roy and him to open was superb and all 3 have always delivered.

Don't think we are going to see the fireworks of the other day!

Might have to be a dig in ground out the runs effort.

We probably won't make the semi finals...

Roy's injury harms us so much.

Well, that wasn’t great.

Aussie’s are going to literally have a field day.

Pathetic from Ali yet again, same with woakes and Rashid. That batting line up suddenly doesnt look so long without Plunkett, Willey and even Curran. If Vince ever plays again I really dont understand it. We will get to the semis, 1 win out the 3 will probably just be enough, such lack of discipline in that batting display apart from root and stokes.

Get one over us before the Ashes? - Warner and Smith would love a century at Lord's.

Ali needs to be axed after this world cup. His mentality under pressure is that of a club cricketer. He doesn't give his wicket away like that today and we go on to win without too much pressure.

Woakes you can forgive because he contributes majority of the time and Vince just hasn't got the concentration at international level, but Ali consistently either slows down our RR significantly or gives away his wicket freely due to stupidity every time we chase.

We should bring in a better spinner that can just rotate the strike to compliment our bigger hitter down the order.

May turn out to be a blessing in disguise though. Keeps the stakes up.

If we'd had 3 essentially dead rubbers to end the group stage and then *boom* semi-final... there'd be a danger of running cold

So close for the WI.

Carlos Brathwaite performing like its the T20 World Cup final all over again!

Sensational hitting but the Kiwis just sneak over the line in the end and basically become the first team to reach the semi finals.

With Afghanistan running India close probably the best day of the tournament so far.

About another foot higher and this would have been one of the all time great ODI wins. Incredible innings from Brathwaite regardless. Windies now as good as eliminated.

Have the likes of Vaughan and Atherton moved over to BT now?. I may well be wrong but I cant recall hearing them so far at this WC.

This only works if we win all the last three, which is extremely doubtful in my eyes.

Vaughan tends to be 5live/TMS doesn't he?

Not that there was any real doubt but South Africa now dead and buried. Had them making the semi’s at the start so been a big letdown from their perspective. They look a lot like England in the last World Cup with how timid they’ve looked with the bat.

Star Sports India are the host broadcaster, not Sky Sports, produced by Sunset & Vine who used to do the old C4 coverage.

Everything in cricket is run by the Indians, absolutely everything, which is why when we play them next week and especially so if we play them in a semi final or final you can guarantee the pitch wont be anything like a great batting one as that wins us the game. Be much more like headingley the other day.

Big one tomorrow - Bangladesh winning has put a bit of pressure on us to get a victory against the Aussies.

No Roy again, this was never a problem with hales as back up as hed just come in and get over 50 guaranteed, cant see Vince lasting long today tbh but I hope he proves me wrong. A win should just about see us there but a loss and the pressure really is on.

Imagine being the best one day team in the world, which we are without a doubt and not making the top 4 in the group at home, it really would be such an English thing to do.
