Been listening to the new record today. Better than I'd hoped for. Don't expect they'll ever top the debut but this sounds better than the eponymous second one, I reckon.

I bought the album on the weekend. Had a listen yesterday and it's OK. Nothing special but a decent listen. I'm not sure there's a single song on there that I remember though, it's all a little bland with no stand out. May give it another go today.

Know exactly what you mean. Couldn't hum a song after listening to it. Enjoyed it while listening, though. Bland is harsh, for me. I'd say it's a slow burner. A more mature sound. Which is to be expected after 11 years, of course. (11 flippin' years btw. :err: Didn't enjoy typing that).

Up the Bracket was one of those time 'n' a place records. Like Nevermind, Morning Glory or Born to Do It. So that's on its own. The best songs on The Libertines are better than owt on this third one too. But that also had some really unlistenable shite. This one doesn't. I absolutely prefer overall it to that second one already.

Got it on again now. Reckon it'll be judged a decent enough comeback when looked back on.

Maybe bland is a little harsh but there was no standout song that I really wanted to listen to again.

Only had the one listen though so I may be doing it a massive misjustice

What do you reckon to Dirty Pretty Things ' album. From Waterloo to anywhere? I liked it, thought it was as good as anything the libertines did. Apart from Buzzards and Crows though their second album romance at short notice was shit.

I hope they get through the tour. Pete has always been vulnerable or flakey but on their day they were a top live band. Saw them around the time they released Up the Bracket and they were brilliant. Saw them again about 18 months later and Pete was just trashed. He tried to incite a stage invasion but other than a few faithful followers most people were a bit bored by it all. Basically invade the stage when Pete's had enough. New album is OK, as I say just hope Pete can get throgh the tour without too much fuss.
