The 2020/21 Premier League season is upon us and with it comes all new opportunities to land some winning accumulators. We’ve taken a look at the opening weekend’s fixtures to find you the best football betting tips and get the new football season off to a winner.
Arsenal to beat Fulham
Arteta has had a good start to his managerial life winning the FA Cup in his debut season, beating Pep Guardiola’s Man City in the semi-finals and seeing off Chelsea in the final. Arsenal also won the Charity Shield, at the expense of Premier League champions Liverpool, to give Gunners fans plenty of hope for the new season. Fulham will be looking to get off to a good start against their fellow London club and Scott Parker’s side will be full of confidence after winning the Championship Play-Off Final back in August. However, Arteta has made some shrewd signings and Arsenal should get the win at The Cottage.
Newcastle to beat West Ham
Newcastle have been busy in the market of late and their marquee signings Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser, both from relegated Bournemouth, look to be smart moves for the Magpies. In a stark contrast, West Ham have been very inactive in the transfer market and the sale of promising youngster Grady Diangana to West Brom has riled fans and players alike at the club. Despite the club’s many documented troubles, Newcastle fans have plenty to be positive about at the moment and a win in East London would be the perfect start for Steve Bruce’s side.
Liverpool to beat Leeds
The Reds ended a 30-year wait for an English league title last season when they breezed their way to Premier League glory. Manager Jurgen Klopp has yet to add any major signings to his squad, which he has been heavily criticised for to date, but Liverpool should have far too much fire power for newly promoted Leeds United. The Whites have recently landed club record signing Rodrigo from Valencia and that’s a real statement of intent from manager Marcelo Bielsa, but it’s unlikely Leeds will be able to end Liverpool’s impressive record, which hasn’t seen them lose in the Premier League at Anfield since April 2017.
Leicester to beat West Brom
Championship runners-up West Brom host Leicester for their first game back in the Premier League since relegation in 2018. Leicester rather went off the boil after returning from the coronavirus-imposed break last season, but star striker Jamie Vardy landed his first Premier League Golden Boot and will be keen to pick up where he left off. The Baggies are one of the favourites to face the drop in the coming season and although they won’t want to kick the campaign off with a defeat, they’ll struggle to keep out the Foxes at The Hawthorns.
Tottenham v Everton – Draw
Everton have been making headlines recently with their eye-catching transfers, including Colombian superstar James Rodriguez. However, the Toffees have a terrible record at Spurs and manager Jose Mourinho isn’t one to set up his team to provide the opposition with chances. With both teams looking to build a platform to future success, we’re expecting this to be a bit of a cagey affair and the draw is probably the most likely result at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
