Finally, the cat is out of the bag. The experts have spoken, and the ratings for EA’s latest take on this beautiful game are in. Whether you want to play as a Manager in Career Mode or put together your own dream XI, it’s worth knowing who the best players in FIFA 22 are.

So who’s the strongest football player? Who are the best strikers FIFA 22? And who are the fastest midfielders in FIFA 22? Let’s take a look at the top FIFA players in detail.

The Top 7 FIFA 22 Players

Below are the Top 7 Players in FIFA 22 as per ratings:

1. Lionel Messi

The Argentinian superstar tops the digital football chats once again in 2022. This makes it the third consecutive year he’s crowned the king of the goals. The 35-year old’s EA FIFA ratings have been 90+ since FIFA 09.

Not surprisingly, he hasn’t dropped below 93 in any subsequent video game titles. In the latest FIFA 22, his base gold card has an overall rating of 93. It features 85 for pace, 92 shooting, 91 passing, 95 dribblings, 34 for defense, and 65 for physicality. His defense attribute is the only feature that has declined from 38 to 34.

2. Robert Lewandowski

The Polish professional footballer Robert Lewandowsky de-ranks Cristiano Ronaldo to land on the second spot. He’s one of the FIFA 22 best strikers, and Ronaldo is aging, so the rating seems pretty fair. His new gold card has an overall rating of 92, with 78 for pace, 92 for shooting, 79 for passing, 86 for dribbling, 44 for defense, and 82 for physicality.

The rating for both pace and passing seems a bit low. We believe his pace should have been at least 84. It looks like the EA will continue to discriminate against players who are not the sprinter type for the foreseeable future.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo

Once a top-rated player, Ronaldo slips to the third spot in EA’s FIFA 22 ratings. His overall score is 91, which isn’t so bad considering he’s 36. The striker has gone down a point from the previous version of the game.

This year also marks his third consecutive decline in the EA FIFA game series (94 in FIFA 19 and 93 in FIFA 20). His pace has also gone down two points, but it’s still very high at 87. Likewise, his physical attribute has also slipped a few points from 77 to 75 this year.

Still, the Portuguese superstar and one of the tallest FIFA players retain the best Premier League player title in FIFA 22.

4. Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne joins Cristiano Ronaldo as the only other Premier League player in our top seven list. If you decide to pick up the Belgian player, you can enjoy his attributes of 76 pace, 86 shooting, 88 dribblings, 93 passing, 64 defense, and 78 physicalities.

He has an overall rating of 91 – just like Ronaldo. While it’s debatable whether the Belgian footballer is as good as Ronaldo, he’s certainly better than Neymar. So, EA got another very spot-on rating.

We also love that EA didn’t downgrade him despite his injuries last year. De Bruyne deserves the fourth spot.

5. Kylian Mbappe

Football’s one of the most famous wonderkid Kylian Mbappe and EA’s cover star lands the fifth spot. His rating has been on the rise since the last few editions of the game.

For instance, his overall rating has increased yet again from 90 to 91 this time. His other stats are 97 paces, 88 shooting, 80 passing, 92 dribblings, 36 defense, and 77 for physicality.

He also has five-star skill moves and a four-star weak foot, taking him to the next level in the new game. So it seems like the French striker will surely remain meta for the entirety of the next season.

Good luck defending against him in the Rivals!

6. Neymar JR.

Once a top-three fixture, Neymar’s slide down the EA rating chart continues. However, that’s not because of any big real-life regression on the player’s part. Remember he was the only real spark in the entire Brazil team in the Copa final?

His downgrade is large because of the improvement on the part of Mbappe and Lewandowski. Despite the downgrade, the Brazillian forward has a 91 rating making it another expensive card throughout the winter. His card features 91 paces, 83 shooting, 80 passing, 92 dribblings, 36 defense, and 77 physicalities.

A two-point drop in finishing makes sense considering he missed quite a few opportunities in the CL games.

7. Jan Oblak

The Slovenian footballer Jan Oblak is FIFA 22’s top-rated goalkeeper. He has an overall rating of 91, and his card is Fifa 22 Rare gold card. We say he deserves the spot, considering he saved so many defense blunders last season. And… that means one thing. There are no defenders in the top seven.

You have to drop down to the 15th spot to find the highest-rated FIFA 2022 defender – Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk. In FIFA 2022, Oblak has 92 handlings, 90 positionings, 87 diving, and 90 for reflexes, which pretty much match with his real-life stats.

He’s a wonderful goalkeeper and a real class act!

Final Thoughts

To summarize, there hasn’t been much movement at the very top since the last year. Lionel Messi retains his throne – no surprises there. He’s currently the best FIFA 22 player. But, will that remain the case next year? Who knows!

In the second place, we have Robert Lewandowski displacing the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo who slips to third. The French national Kylian Mbappe’s meteoric rise to the fifth spot may surprise some people this time.

Still, considering his form in the last few seasons, we were expecting it, to say the least. We hope now you know who to save your millions for. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Happy Gaming!
