To be fair mate Millwall have earnt their reputation over the years. Think it's a legitimate question - The Den is hardly publicised as a fantastic experience for away fans is it?

Probably is the best away trip in london. Nigh on impossible for there to be any trouble , away fans are completely penned off from the home fans all the way to the station. I very much doubt there will be any trouble at any millwall game this year let alone against barnet.

Didn't specifically mean full on riots. Didn't know that you're completely separated, but everything I've heard about away days at Millwall involves spitting/coin throwing/horse punching. I'll readily admit to being ignorant about them apart from their bad reputation but... can you blame fans for being cautious?!

I suspect the 'Wall hordes will be gunning for each and every one of the 102 Barnet fans that make the trip.

As a sign of peace Millwall fans like opposition fans to wear West Ham shirts. All your fans should have a West Ham appreciation night.

An open reply to our beloved chairman,

It is what it is, get over it ffs. I realise it will be a proper pain in the arse for the Kent based fans, but for an exile, it is manna from heaven. My nearest league game next season will be the Swine.

It ain't the JPT, where it is' properly' regionalised, and we get to (pontentially) play the same teams ever year.

Rant over

Agreed - it's been a straight north/south split for a few seasons in the 1st round hasn't it? A classic 'moan about it after getting the worst draw' comment! It's a bit much to have written to the FL about it.

I know it's a long trip but I can guarantee if we get through rounds 1 & 2 and get a trip to old Trafford he wouldn't moan about the distance then

It's not bullshit, it's just sensationalized.

Milwall do sometimes have trouble, more so than most other teams to be honest. That's just a fact. I don't see a problem with the Barnet fan asking, he's just being cautious.

That's not really very helpful for me being a Barnet fan that doesn't want to get there via a prescribed route.
It's also something that I doubt we would have ever experienced as Barnet fans visiting an away ground, at least not since the "Bus-Stop of Hate" incident at Enfield back in the mid-80s!

As long as you don't walk down the Old Kent Road signing 'Bubbles' you will be fine.

I wouldn't bring your kids mate.

Not that they would be any danger, it's just the fumes from the incinerator plant next door might make them poorly.

This is hilarious, there is precisely zero percent chance of anything happening.

There's zero chance of anything happening at any Millwall home match, probably the safest away trip anyone will ever make.

Apart from when they shut the walkway to the station like they did to us a few years back, they must have forgot what its like to see an away fan close as they were trying to pick fight with anyone with a northern accent and little chavs spitting on women and kids. But I agree under normal circumstances its probably the safest away ground in the league.

Can't remember the last time we had a home draw in the first round of any cup but at least this time it's York.

"Women and kids" - when you know a story is bullshit. Not only that, but the day Crewe bring more than a hundred blokes with a thermos and woolly hat to The Den, I'll be amazed.

Women and children indeed.

Either the women and kids or also when they add ' they were trying to attack disabled fans'.

Paul Scally isn't happy about the draw (which is fair enough) and is having a bit of a whinge in the peg seller telegraph (or whatever the local rag is down there).

Should we regionalise the first round more do we think?

Scally actually wrote a letter to the Football League about this.
His main gripe it seems is that at the last meeting it was agreed that the draw would be regionalised in such a way as to avoid teams having long journeys in the first round. We then get a near 600 mile round trip.
I do understand Scally's position here in as much as the Football League have said one thing and done another.
The way the draw is now, with seeding for teams, makes it very difficult to make it any more regionalised.
The only way would be to drop the seeding and have more regional groups. That way Plymouth would get a draw against the likes of Exeter, Yeovil or the Bristol teams.
Would make sense to me.

I do have sympathy for Gills fans who to get to the game need to take at least a day off work to get to a first round league cup match.

I think making the first round more regionalised makes sense, would see bigger crowds and more interest if the first round had more local matches.

I agree AS, but the problem is it would require a modicum of common sense and that appears to be sadly lacking in those that run the professional game in this country.
Why do we need seeding anyway? It is a cup competition.
Local games in the first round would make them a little more appealing at least.

Problem being there aren't really that many teams in the south-west, certainly not enough to regionalise it further.

Scally should get over it, we've just been unlucky with the draw.

It shouldnt be seeded what the fucks that all about i think its a disgrace to be honest. Not sure wether it should be regionalised either i can see a bit of logic with that though but cant say i agree with it.

The FA Cup isn't regionalised from the 4th Qual onwards, so why should the League Cup be?

Having lost Bristol C and Yeovil from our league programme, I am more than happy with this draw, and a few Argyle fans I know are likely to go as well (when they might not have done otherwise)
