Obviously wasn't at your game last night, but can you explain to me what's so funny about the post? Apart from the debts (which I have no clue either way tbh), I think it's a very level headed opinion?

It's the surprising bitterness about it all. It's brilliant how all these people seem to know what our finances and budgets are like. He sounds so jealous.

Fair enough, know how you feel on budgets when everyone came at us because they all "knew" ours was the biggest in the league.

So Urban, come the end of the season, give me your top 5 in order

Just found this comment on the Halifax forum from the one and only Pliny Harris:
'Two points over three days for a part-time team against two big budget squads who've been neck-and-neck for a few months. Acceptable return, and we deserved more. To say we should be competing with those two is to say Colwyn Bay or Gloucester should be competing with us. Rovers are several times larger than us and Barnet are racking up untold debts on their team. I wouldn't mind them being in a different league to us next season as they're not an honest bunch.'
:fl: Bloody hell

Talk about pandering to your audience :ffs:

Rovers, Barnet, Grimsby, Macclesfield, FGR. Very hard to call between us two and Grimsby, I think you'll just pip it as after Macc your hardest game is Dover away. But this could all change after our next matches, it's ridiculously close when you look at the fixtures left.

I also have a horrible habit of tempting fate, so I'm not acknowledging us winning the league for a while yet!

We won't spend the money required to sack him - nor will he resign. I watched him walk off last night, shaking his head with no acknowledgement of the fans. Disappointing.

It's such a shame it's turned sour like this as he was a legend as a player. 1100 there last night, unless Kiddy bring a few down it'll be around the same on Saturday, which would be horrendous.
Gonna be a long 90 Minutes on Saturday I think. Two teams are in the worst form in the league go head to head. Or it could go the other way and be a goalfest

That's fair. I think if we were to be in the playoffs I'd rather be there with Rovers than Grimsby. So if we don't win it, Grimsby please do!

It's a tough one as form can change so easily, you say Grimsby now, but we still have 7 games! Not only 3/4 games ago Grimsby said we looked like champions and we're desperate not to face us in the play offs! At this stage of the season, things change so quickly! As crazy as this may sound, I'm a little glad you beat Eastleigh, purely because I don't think we'll win the league and I've seen eastleigh twice now, and they've impressed me both times. Especially when they comfortably beat us at home

Yeah very strange season this one, we totally outplayed Eastleigh made them look bang average, then you pretty much did the same to us, then sounds like Eastleigh did the same to you!!
The crazy world of non league football, wouldn't you miss it if you go.........? ;) ;)

Just to wade in on this Barnet/Chester discussion...I don't have much feeling to Barnet either way which is probably how a lot of Barnet fans feel towards us. All I think of when I hear Barnet is the great Giuliano Grazioli who I must have seen play once at most but just loved him. He was class. In terms of non league strikers he is second only to Daryl Clare in my book.

Don't want them to go up however as it's my nearest game.

Midweek results have been fantastic for Diamonds once again, despite no game for us.

Tuesday night Wisbech lost at PNS, this was their game in hand. They now visit the Dog & Duck on Saturday 4 points behind us, both with 8 left to play. That was followed up by Holbeach, the only other applicant for promotion, continuing their recent implosion which has seen a total backroom clearout. They lost at home to relegation strugglers Sleaford Town 1-0.

The mark for promotion has been brought down to 92 points from 95, meaning 13 more points required to win promotion (currently 79). The title requires 100 as things stand.

6 pointer in the title race on Saturday. A massive game. If we lose our theoretical maximum drops to 100, so everything would still be in our hands. Avoid a loss and we gain some breathing space!

We're going to name the main bar at the Hive after him in a couple of weeks time.

Only to Railway Blue, who has had a longstanding obsession with us.

To me, Chester are a club situated a long way away from London who under their previous incarnation suffered a lot from unscrupulous chairmen and are now run on a more secure basis. That's all.
There's no obsession. You insist you are not a bank-rolled club, but I've just read that Tony Kleanthous has invested over £31m in Project Barnet. If you'd just admit that without that investment you'd be Conference South at best. Runs for cover.

The fact is that since the creation of the Conference Premier in 1979 we've never been below that level so for a start we've not been "bankrolled" to this level.
As for the £31m claim, this sounds very similar to what Arsenal did in building and moving to their new stadium and no one is claiming that they're bankrolled either. I'm pretty sure that BeesKnees will be able to give a fuller picture.

The total cost of the Hive from day one has been paid for by :
1. Selling Underhill (Believed to be in the region of 1£15 mil)
2. Grants
3. Bank loans
4. Toshiba Medical centre (£6 million investment)
5. Section 106 payment from the development of Edgware Town FC site (£1 million

This is investment in building the Hive, no loans or gifts from shareholders has been used to support the clubs wage budget. Our chairman regularly boasts how much money has been spent using terms like 'I have personally authorised £x million' so when TK says he has invested £31 million he is referring to the amount spent on building the site that he has authorised as owner of the company and not some personal pot of spare cash that he is thowing away on a football club.

This whole argument is a joke tbh as the Hive complex is a very profitable enterprise ( £700k pre tax profit in last reported year) that supports the football club, the accounts show no personal investment by TK in the last five years and he receives money from it in the form of a dividend. From what I can tell some have a problem understanding the model of the Hive and that the money it makes supports a football club.

We don't actually have any debts. The club runs at a profit thanks to non football revenue.
