A long time ago on a forum far far away… the TFF Wars took place. Now, finally, after fucking about with a million top 100 lists and The Hunger Games and all kinds of shit… it returns as:

1FF WARS!

About damned time, right? Tell me about it.

In TFF Wars, rifts to all known universes were opened and characters from all walks of entertainment forged teams to do battles of epic proportions. After the fighting was done and a winning team was declared, the rifts resealed themselves and all characters returned to their homes…

But now the rifts have opened again!

For those who never played TFF Wars, here be the basics. And this may help remind some of the old players too, since it’s been so fucking long since the last game.

Each team will be given £1,000,000 to spend and be offered 6 characters or items from a list of 320 characters (well, 259 characters, the rest are items… more on those later!). Each character will have different stats, displayed like this as an example:

Oaf - 5BR 3HP 1D6 - £100,000/£20,000 - Leader: The Farce Awakens

Which may all look very confusing right now, but it makes sense once you get into it. All of that basically means:

Name [Faction (if any)] - Battle Rating score/Health Points/Dice - Value/Wages - Ability

To break those down…

Name: duh!

Faction: some players are part of a team (more on these later!)

Battle Rating score: will usually be referred to as “BR”, this is the character's prowess at fighting. It can go up to 20 (or more in a few, rare cases), the higher the better!

Health Points: will usually be referred to as "HP", this is how many times you can take damage before that character dies.

Dice: for fights, on top of the BR score, characters also get a dice roll to add to their score to help decide the battle. In fights, the highest score wins, so hope the dice are on your side!
Value: the cost of the character.

Wages: the amount you have to pay each week to keep the character.

Ability: every single character has a special ability, most of them unique to that character. These can help in various ways… but you won’t get to see what they do until you’ve bought the character!

Not so complex, is it?

From here on, the game will run in game weeks. These won’t last an actual week, but it’s just a way of pacing the game. On each game week, the following will happen:

1) Every team may be offered 3 new characters/items. In order for this to happen, they must PM me! Each team will have a PM set up when the game starts in order to do this.

2) Weekly battles take place. The winners of fights determined by using the "battle rating" given to each character and rolling dice relating to character.

3) The combined wages of all characters on your roster come out of your money. If you cannot afford these wages, you lose your highest earning character each week, and this character is auctioned off. If three characters walk, or all characters walk, game over! If people have no characters at the time wages must be paid, they incur a £100,000 fine!

These are the basic fundamentals. If you don’t get it yet, don’t worry… each step will be explained as we move along in the early stages of the game. And everybody seemed to get it last time I did that, so it should be the same this time around hopefully…

A few other little rules…

You don’t have to fight if you don’t want on any given game week. Though you guarantee that you won’t gain anything!

If you go into a fight and it goes uncontested (because nobody takes the other spot in the fight), you win the territory and get £150,000.

Selecting a spot on a fight card and then not placing a fighter there results in £200,000 fine

As for the end game… you win 1FF Wars by fulfilling one of the following conditions:

A) Being the last team standing.

B) Holding all of the territories (there will be 20, each picked randomly at a time... whoever wins in a location, "owns" it... they must fight there if it comes up

Changes from TFF Wars:

Yes, a few things have changed since last time. And here they are…

BR

Last time around, BR acted as a set figure. So a BR of 15 meant that the character started with a score of 15, and then had a dice roll to add to that. This time around, the BR system will be the same as in The Hunger Games game I ran back along… where BR score will simply be a maximum value between 1 and the BR. So a BR of 15 would mean that you can score between 1 and 15 with your BR, and then have the dice roll added to it. So a bigger BR is still a huge advantage, but there is a bit more of a chance of upsets this time around… just because a character is outmatched, it may not necessarily mean that they have zero chance of coming out with the win.

Territories

This time, they play a bigger part. From the start of the game, territories will earn you a little extra money (and later into the game, they may end up as your only source of income!). Also, the size of the roster you can have will be restricted by how many territories you own. Each territory will allow you to hold 4 more characters in your team.

Territories may also have unique characteristics as well. One of them may let you train your characters, giving you 1BR to assign to a character each game week. Another will make you more money than the rest. This time, the territories themselves have personalities. However, if your territory has an ability it will be the responsibility of your team to activate it when you can, not mine!

And one last important topic on the topic of territories…

Team HQs. Each team will have a special, unique territory. This territory will act as the headquarters for your team and will have several unique qualities to it.

1) To start with, it will have an infinite capacity. This means that it can hold as many characters as you want. But after five gameweeks, once the game starts to pan out a bit, it will start only supporting 5 characters… and this number will drop more as the game goes on.

2) It can only be contested when it remains as your last territory… and if you lose it, GAME OVER! The team that beats you for it will simply keep it as a trophy, it won’t have any benefits for the conquering team.

3) It earns no money.

Characters

Don’t necessarily think that you know any characters this time around based on last time… for the most part (especially for characters seen in the last game) character abilities will be REWRITTEN! So if you’re put off signing Jack Torrance by the fact that in the original TFF Wars he tried to hack his own team to pieces… don’t be so sure he’s going to try the same thing again. Also, yes, Gandalf was a beast when it came to defending home territories… but will he do the same this time around? That’s not to say the all abilities will be changing… some will stay the same. Hell, the name of the ability may be the same as well... but that won’t necessarily mean it hasn’t changed. Basically you won’t know for sure if they’ve got something new going on until you buy them.

Factions. Certain pairings of characters will gain bonuses for being a part of the same team. If a character is in a faction, it will appear in square brackets (eg [X-Men]) next to their name. Also, if two or more faction members are on the same side in a multi person fight, they will each gain +1BR for each faction member also in the fight.

Leaders. These are rare. But the game will now have a few “leader” characters in it. These are characters who will each come with a special objective/quest type thing, which, upon completion, will lead to some very nice bonuses for your team. You can only have one leader at a time.

Items. Sometimes, when being offered your three weekly characters, you may be offered an item in one of their places. The items will sit on your character roster, but cannot participate in battles. They may simply be single use items that can offer a small boost to HP or BR, or they may hold unique abilities that could well change the tide of the game for your team.

Dice

All characters start with one Dice. Extra dice must be purchased or won. Dice upgrades go as such:

Most start with a D6 (though very few characters do start with different dice). This can be upgraded to a D8, then a D10 and finally a D12. Once they have a D12, they can upgrade a second dice, starting as a D4. This can then be upgraded from D4-D6-D8-D10 and D12. The maximum any character can have are two D12’s.

“Weight classes” and rewards for winning fights

Last time around, for winning a fight teams received half of the value of the character they beat in reward money for their win. This time around, there will be set rates of prize money.

These rates will be determined by “weight classes”. Technically, the classes have fuck all to do with weight, but it’s just an easier way of putting it. Basically, the classes will be as such:

Lightweight – 10BR limit - £100,000 for winning.

Middleweight – 15BR limit - £250,000 for winning.

Heavyweight – no BR limit - £400,000 for winning.

As of week 31:
Prizes for winning fights:
Uncontested – £45,000 down to £30,000
Lightweight – £30,000 down to £20,000
Middleweight – £75,000 down to £50.000
Heavyweight – £120,000 down to £80,000

Territory boosts:
Monetary gain – £10,000 per territory down to £5,000 per territory. Vice City cut down to 100k.
Roster population cap – 2 characters per territory down to 2 characters for your HQ and 1 character per territory.

This should help encourage more varied rosters and help make lower rated characters become a bit more important. Rest assured though, your big bucks still lay in the heavy hitting 20BR powerhouses. Bare in mind though, these limitations are only regarding base BR stats… if a 15BR character is put into a middleweight fight, they may still have abilities than allow them to go over 15BR…

That’s it! Those are the basic rules. As I said, if you didn’t quite understand all that, don’t worry about it, I’m sure you’ll get it in time.

Right, all initial Character offers are out. I'm actually in work all bastard day tomorrow, so I'm going to set a deadline for these first signings of 10PM tomorrow!

Remember, you have 1 million to spend on as many or few of these as you want.

To confirm the purchase of a character, at least two members of your team must put their name IN BOLD in your teams PM. Once this has happened, the purchase will be finalised and the character will be signed to your team.

I get that some of you may be lost right now, because it's probably all a bit much. But remember, the rules are there ^^^ so give 'em another read... and if you're still lost, ask me in this thread or in your PM's and I'll do my best to help you get your head around it!

People are really taking their time over these first offers this time around, nobody is rushing into anything. No signings as of yet.

As a reminder, the deadline for these signings is 10pm tomorrow night. And to sign them, I need two people from your team to say their name in BOLD in the PM.

Though it's just come to my attention that I'm not actually working tomorrow, it's the day after I'm thinking of  So yeah, if all teams are happy with their signings before the 10pm deadline, we could get going earlier.

Are these bonuses different for different factions? I assume that, like with character abilities, we don't find out what they are until we buy two people from the same faction.

Yeah, they're all different bonuses for the most part. The faction bonuses come in the form of specific character abilities. For example, they'll have something like "gains "X" for each additional (faction name) faction member in the team" or what not.

The first characters have been purchased!

Stagnificent sign:

latest

Captain America [Avengers] – 15BR 3HP 1D6 – £550,000/£40,000 – Leader: Avengers Assemble!

Med-Pack

Grim New Chavs sign:

Beast2.jpg

Beast [X-Men] – 12BR 3HP 1D6 – £350,000/£55,000 – Scientist

3 Championship and a Cov sign:

latest

Mario [Super Mario Bros.] – 15BR 3HP 1D6 – £600,000/£60,000 – It's-a-me, Mario!
Med-Pack
Poison

Also, a note on a few things that need mentioning/I've had questions on:

Leaders!

There can be only one character assigned as your teams leader at a time. You can change your leader once per game week using your PM to say "change the leader to (character name)" in bold!

Trades!

Yes, you can trade characters this time around! It's up to you guys to negotiate the terms of your trade and agree on a reasonable fee. Once both teams are happy, one member from each team must post in this thread, in BOLD (of course!) something along the lines of "Team X trades (character name/money) for (character name/money) with team Y" and the other team must do the same. Once one member from each team has done so, the trade is official.

Also, two additional rules on trades:
Only characters, territories, items and money can be exchanged.

The fair play rule. If myself or Munkiki feel that a trade is against fair play we can block it. To elaborate on this...
If a team is clearly just about to go out of the game, or suddenly has no interest in taking part, they may want to basically give their roster away for nothing. So say "team Jackinky" has a 20BR Harold from Halifax who is dominating, but they're about to go out of the game, and then they try to trade him to "team Reem" for £1, this would basically just give the team a massive boost for nothing and I don't want to see that happen. It's like in Monopoly, when somebody is just about to go out so they suddenly try to give all of their properties to their mate for absolute fuck all. I hate that shit, and I don't want any of that in 1FF Wars!

So this only covers trades that myself or Munkiki feel would "brake the game" or cause a team to get an unfair advantage just because another team likes them and dislikes another team. However, by all means, if you want, feel free to lie about character abilities to try to bump up the value, or what not. This would not violate the fair play rule, even if it is just a little bit filthy.

Thought it looked a decent price but looking at Captain America, seems like we may have been conned. Same BR, same HP, same dice but Captain America is a leader, is £50,000 cheaper and on £20K a week less!!!! Ridiculous pricing!

Yup, remember, prices aren't always necessarily indicative of the quality of the signing. It's roughly around about there, but as seen with Cap and Mario, two similar characters can be priced very differently on occasion.

Anyway, while I am here right now I can't quite do the signings and shit yet. That should hopefully be later tonight.

Our new signing certainly outweighs the above three.

So yeah, we're still waiting on that update...

And no this isn't it, because I'm currently on my phone on my break in work. But soon. SOON.

I hope.

All teams now have their first characters!

Now we move onto the next stage. FINALLY.

Next up... is the fight card! And along with it, our first territory reveals!

To start with we're going to keep it simple. No special themed fights... yet. An explanation will be given below the fight card.

Week 1 fight card!

Quahog
Lightweight (10BR limit)
1 vs 1

Pokemon Stadium
Middleweight (15 BR limit)
1 vs 1

Goldenrod City
Heavyweight (No weight limit)
1 vs 1

Mount Doom
Bonus fight! Winner recieves £500,000! (no limit)
1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1

To claim a spot on the card, simply come into the thread and say, in bold, "(Team name) will fight in (Territory name)". This claims you a spot on the card, and cannot be reversed once done. It's also first come, first serve, so get in there and make a decision quickly! You can only choose two spots on this card, one fight in the Quahog/PKMN stadium/Goldenrod City fights and then the bonus fight in mount doom if you wish to take part in that.

Remember about the weight classes, too. As it stands, only Elsa is eligible for the lightweight fight, so 3DD look set to make some easy money, unless they want to risk it and have Elsa challenge above her weight class...

And yes, there are only two spots for that middleweight class and plenty of middleweight characters. Whoever misses out will either need to punch above their weight and try to take on a heavyweight, or go for the bonus fight.
Each week, there will be at least one lightweight, one middleweight and one heavyweight fight. The amount of these will generally be quite even each week, so trying to keep a nice balance between the weight classes in your roster is essential to maximizing opportunities to win fights.

As the game moves on and roster start to fill out, more spots will become available in future and more spots will be up for grabs. Also, we'll get more crazy 3/4 way (or more!) fights and 2 vs 2 fights and all kinds of shit. Plus fights that give different benefits or involve quizzes or, as I mentioned before, yes, rap battles. For week one I've kept it simple with 1 vs 1's and then the bonus fight, but from week 2 onward the types of fights will be selected at random for the most part!
