50. ) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (20 Points)
Set in the Cold War-era Soviet Union, the story centers on FOX operative Naked Snake as he attempts to rescue a weapons designer, sabotage an experimental superweapon, and assassinate his defected former boss. While previous games were set in a primarily urban environment, Snake Eater adopts a 1960s Soviet jungle setting, with the high tech, near-future trappings of previous Metal Gear Solid games being replaced with the wilderness. While the setting has changed, the game's focus remains on stealth and infiltration, while retaining the series' self-referential, fourth wall-breaking sense of humor. The story of Snake Eater is told through numerous cut scenes and radio conversations.

50.) Spyro The Dragon (20 Points)

Spyro the Dragon is a 1998 platform video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation. It stars the title character, a young purple dragon named Spyro, and his dragonfly friend, Sparx, and is the first game in the Spyro the Dragon series. It was praised by 1FF's Rammy for having breathtaking visuals and ground-breaking gameplay.

50. ) L.A Noire (20 Points)
L.A. Noire is a neo-noir detective video game developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games. L.A. Noire is set in Los Angeles in 1947 and challenges the player, controlling a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer, to solve a range of cases across five divisions.[8] Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the players' success at these activities will impact how much of each cases' story is revealed.

50. ) Final Fantasy Tactics (20 Points)
Final Fantasy Tactics is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Sony PlayStation video game console. It is the first game of the Final Fantasy Tactics series and was released in Japan in June 1997 and in the United States in January 1998. Final Fantasy Tactics is set in a fictional medieval-inspired kingdom called Ivalice created by Yasumi Matsuno. The game's story follows Ramza Beoulve, a highborn cadet who finds himself thrust into the middle of an intricate military conflict known as The Lion War, where two opposing noble factions are coveting the throne of the kingdom. As the story progresses, Ramza and his allies discover a sinister plot behind the war.

50. ) Donkey Kong Country 2 (20 Points)
Donkey Kong Country 2 was first released on 20 November 1995 in North America and stars Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong as the main characters of the game.

The game begins soon after Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by the prime antagonist Kaptain K. Rool, leaving Diddy and his girlfriend Dixie to rescue him. Together, the two travel to various and distinct parts of Crocodile Isle where the game is set on which there are varying worlds totalling in eight unique environments.

50. ) Resident Evil 2 (20 Points)
Resident Evil 2, known in Japan as Biohazard 2 is a 1998 survival horror video game originally released for the PlayStation. Developed by Capcom as the second installment in the Resident Evil series, its story takes place two months after the events of the first game, Resident Evil. It is set in Raccoon City, an American community whose residents have been transformed into zombies by the T-virus, a biological weapon developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella. In their escape from the city, the two protagonists, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, encounter other survivors, and are confronted by William Birkin, the mutated creator of the even more powerful G-virus.

50. ) Dragon Age: Inquisition (20 Points)

Dragon Age: Inquisition is an RPG developed by Bioware and published by EA. An open world game with dragons, mad bastard farmers and some other stuff. You can even romance a dwarf. Get in.

50. ) Panzer Dragoon Saga (20 Points)

Panzer Dragoon Saga is an RPG released for the Sega Saturn in 1998.
The player, as Edge, explores 3D environments on foot or riding the dragon, solving puzzles and interacting with non-player characters to further the story. The player can use a cursor to "lock on" to items of interest; locking onto distant characters lets Edge eavesdrop on their conversation. The dragon is used to explore the game's overworld and dungeons. Unlike the other Panzer Dragoon games, the dragon's course is not "on rails", and can be moved in any direction.

Civilization and Road Rash another two of mine out.

Of the first lot at 50 I've only played L.A Noire, didn't vote for it but found it highly enjoyable for the most part, the kind of game that is gonna work a lot better on the new platforms though IMO.

From now on games will be ranked based on points and the number of lists they appeared on. This is the best format, I don't care what you all say *puts fingers in ears*.

(Ok, it's because I'm thick when it comes to numbers and I can't count. You happy now?)

Arkham City was an amazing game. Built on all the good parts of Asylum, just larger in scope and a great twist in the ending.

Can't wait for the last part of the trilogy Arkham Knight due to come out in june. It's shaping up to be massive, apparently there's gonna be a 50gb install.. :surr:

Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed City, like you say, it had a much larger scale. But God I loved Asylum. City was a little too wide, Asylum by comparison was focussed. Beat up thugs, batter shit out of Joker, Riddler trophies, all good!

And trilogy? Was Origins that bad? :p

I need to get back on Dragon Age Inquistion. Ive been distracted by other games lately, but I do need to get back to it. Liking what Ive seen so far, much closer to the first game than the pretty awful DA2.

origins was made by a different company I think, just a stop gap between the planned trilogy. I never even bothered playing it tbh.

I agree about Asylum
City was great and I liked the larger number of villains ect, but I really liked Asylum as a setting, and I think the game worked well funneling you along to next part ect. Only disappointing part for me was the last boss

Aah didnt know that. Ive played it, its still good, but again, just as I think City doesnt really improve on Asylum, just expands it, Origins does the same for City. Some of the boss battles are irritating too, especially the Deathstroke one.

What were they based on before?

I enjoyed LA Noire. Especially since they took actual actors for characters. The whole cast of Mad Men is in there.

EDIT: post #700 bitches

Majoras Mask is another of mine. Sat down in 16th. I think if it wasn't for Ocarina of Time, I'd have remembered it more fondly. After that incredible game, whatever followed was likely to be a disappointment.

P.S. 007 Nightfire

That's how I do the Top Tv Shows. I have the number of Number Ones sandwiched in the middle of that though.

I don't get the fuss about Ocarina at all. Windwaker and MM are superior games in almost every respect. Ocarina is comparatively dull and kind of uninspired.

Timesplitters 2 was one of mine. Superb game, and the closest thing to a successor to Goldeneye (made by a lot of the same people).

The multiplayer made this game, as was the case with Goldeneye of course.

I had TimeSplitters 2 near the top of my list. Best FPS I've ever played for the sheer fin factor. Fancy a game of flametag on the Chinese level where your only weapons are bricks? The game had a lot of soul which seems to be missing from most modern shooters these days.

So did I, but I was the only person to have it on my list (in 3rd place).

The first game very narrowly missed out my top 20.

Donkey Kong Country is one of mine. Loved that game growing up.

I wanted to include Portal, but I chose to only name one of them.
