I've missed this, what's so good about the Orient streams?

Reading the above sounds like it has a proper pre-match build up in a studio, rather than just a picture of the players warming up and ifollow ads with the radio coverage over the top, like TV football I guess. Sounds good, but I only tune in a couple mins before the start anyhow, couldn't care less about pre-match, I just want to watch the game.

They have a proper pre match build up with a presenter, ex players and a pundit (no one well know usually someone from local press who is a fan etc) in a studio.

It is good for a League Two club.

I've never been a fan of club only channels and tv shows myself (Like MUTV for example) as the coverage is always biased. I mean in League Two you're going to have to present and comment at some point on some REALLY bad performances  I'd rather them than me.

Oh nice, sounds good that. I do the same as Gladders, just tune in a minute or so before kickoff as there's nothing on, but more because we don't have anything as opposed to not being too bothered. I'd watch it sometimes if there was something.

Who are the non-ex-players doing the punditry/presenting? There's definitely a market/demand for this I think. It could potentially be a great opportunity for podcasts to expand.

They've had Glen Wilkie, Jabo Ibhere, Scott McGleish and Joe Widdowson on as the ex players recently. The ladies team captain has also been on too.

They also have the odd current player on too very rarely, but I find it quite awkward when that happens as they're limited to what they can say.

I am normally exactly the same and was at the game yesterday but I went back on Youtube and watched their prematch buildup and found it interesting and not OTT. Showing clips of our threat from wide areas, how Orient have been so defensively resilient etc. As Terminator rightly says, things like MUTV are very biased but found this quite understated and just a big step up to anything else i have come across so far.

Could see it being awful viewing if you had the wrong folks on there but thought a good balance was struck.

No exact figures, but the owners son and board member Dave Travis is very much the brains behind it as streaming falls heavily into his line of work, so he has the know how on how to make it a better product.

They've been pushing the streaming coverage since the covid season.
How much input did Danny Macklin have?

Questions have been raised as to whether we should take our streaming in house and that may be something he's been asked to look in to. We already have live pre and post match coverage on Facebook and YouTube.

Kudos to the Os for that. Our in-house stuff is terrible, cringeworthy shite with rubbish craic between our man child media guy and Adam Boyd (if he's not too pissed to come on) or failing that Tommy Miller who says nowt controversial because he's angling for a job at the club some point. UK based you can go for Radio Tees and sync it with the feed, their coverage is good but otherwise if our amateur media 'department' are in attendance then you have to sit through the shame of it all both on the pitch and off it where it's even worse

He oversaw it so he'll have seen how it was implemented, but I am fairly sure Dave Travis is the main drive and brains behind it because he's helped develop streaming within the industry he's worked in.

I hear the ref at Northampton v Orient had a great game - can anybody confirm?

Got the big decisions right, took his time and discussed with his linesman. Great stuff. Orient were just frustrated as having time wasted in the first half they got the hump when we did it at 1-0 up. Fairs fair imvho.

Northampton fans are very happy with the ref's performance which tells you everything you need to know.

He let your time wasting go in the first half and ours in the second. Got the sending off correct as per Omar Beckles, and the offside was correct too.

Correct. Macklin doesn’t have a scintilla of knowledge or talent, let alone being capable of implementing a fully-functioning broadcast studio.

We played ok for the first half an hour or so and then lost our way after Crewe scored with one of those shots that 90% of the time sails harmless yards over the crossbar but unfortunately for us it was one of 10% ones that smashes into the back of the net. After that we huffed and puffed to create anything as per usual especially after Mellon made a totally idiotic substitution, not for the first time, by bringing on Nolan for Hawkes therefore narrowing the pitch and ruling out any service into the box from the left. We were then treated to watching various Crewe players falling over with mysterious injuries especially the keeper who having caught one cross immediately fell to the floor holding his head like he had been shot between the eyes by a sniper from the nearby Railway House building. All in all not a great start to the New Year after 2 wins at Christmas leading us to think we might actually do something this season. Back to the drawing board with a lop sided squad desperately in need of some strikers.
