I don’t see that XI scoring tbh. Hugill is not Pukki and not sure he fits in that team. Best hope is keeping the game tight then pray Placheta/Hernandez perform when called upon - they’re more likely to put in balls Hugill can attack than any one starting.
Well, it's only taken them three minutes with Hanley finally heading on target from a corner for once.

Well your negativity was well founded as per usual.

Thought that red card was a bit harsh on Jefferson Lerma. Although very clumsy.

Cardiff have definitely learnt a few things after last month's game between the two sides, as they're playing it along the ground far more and pressing us much more proactively. Besides set pieces, they've largely kept Buendia contained so far, but they've got absolutely no grip on Cantwell and he is running the show. No surprise that he was there to tap in the rebound for our second, after Hugill's initial effort was saved; another excellent through ball from McLean to pick him out there.

One little difference I'm noticing so far between Barden and Krul is that Barden is much more willing to quickly play the ball forward, whereas Krul often likes to take a more careful approach in building from the back. At the very least, in context of this particular match, it's working well in giving us some decent openings on the counter that we don't normally get from the goalkeeper position.

Looked better and a bit more defensively organised than midweek. We are 0 threat even on the break though which is a worry. Another half similar to that we are bound to concede unless we can relieve pressure somehow.

Red was a bit harsh, he got clipped in mid air by Berry which meant he lost balance but he has forearm smashed Lockyer in the head to the extent he to go off eventually. Most of the chat about it seems to be “he didn’t mean it” which is pretty irrelevant to the rule these days as we saw with Pearson at Swansea. I wouldn’t have sent him off but can see why the ref did.

I think its a matter of time before one of Josh King and Dominic Solanke scores - they are all over our defence; I don't agree that we look organised at the back at all. CCV looks to win everything both on the ground and in the air.

Don’t recall a proper opportunity for them bar Berry’s misjudged backward header. They “look” dangerous I agree but what’s been created? Not much.

Would agree it’s probably a matter of time before, with their quality something comes off though.

Pretty dismal start to the second half for us, very sloppy and slow to react all over the park. And now we've needlessly given Cardiff a way back into a game we had full control of at half-time. Need a couple of subs to freshen things up and help us see this out now. Or Cardiff going down to ten men, I suppose; that'll take the wind out of their sails.

Bit lucky with the first goal after a cock up from the Huddersfield goalie but well worked 2nd goal finished by Pedro who was very good .

Another three points, but another game where we could and should have won more convincingly than we ended up doing. Still, if Luton manage to keep Bournemouth at bay for a few more minutes, that puts us seven points clear at the top (though Swansea do have a game in hand, and Brentford have two).

Probably could have made a couple more subs late on to ease the load on some tiring legs, given we're right back in action on Wednesday night; Hugill for instance was absolutely dead on his feet for the last ten or so minutes.

Great, great win. We have done well this season when we have had a bit of a shocking result/performance by following it up with something better and done it today.

Sending off probably proved crucial, second half the extra man left quite a bit of space for us to eventually attack into and one of those attacks lead to the goal. Great strike by KDH after good work by Cornick but we did have other opportunities as well. Rode our luck at times especially at 0-0 in the early second half period, but with the quality they have always going to be a few scares. Great result.

Feb 2011....

Nearly a decade where we couldn’t beat Preston. Almost did it lads, unlucky.

Jason Tindall not impressed by the red card at all and is 100% convinced that Lerma will get off on Monday. Not convinced he will do - there was blood streaming down Lockyer’s face and probably has to do a 10 day concussion sit out now.

That red card looked more like the type you see in rugby where the officials give a card after seeing the result of a tackle etc even if there is no intent.

He has seen the big cut as you say....

Not complaining though from the Bournemouth point of view.

They should have been down to 10 after a minute against us!

You can’t second guess these things as the decisions to over turn red cards are often entirely non sensical - I remember a few years ago Sunderland had a red over turned for what looked a blatant stamp against us, and they often go the other way of protecting the refs decision despite it being obvious to most it was a mistake - but it wouldn’t surprise me if they do over turn it. It’s just an unfortunate incident that sometimes happen on a football pitch when bodies are flying around, we’d like all incidents to be cut and dried but often they aren’t and the ref gets one look at it.

You are probably correct the refs seen the outcome of incident, and the hand to the face and thinks he can’t stay on after that. From his angle he probably can’t see the touch by Berry, which was light but probably enough to put him off balance.

Lloyd Kelly has had another one like this too that they got away with later in the season. Swings and roundabouts.

Didn't create enough, played alright in spells but no cutting edge. That said Kalas & Mawson have to be one of the most expensive centre back pairings in the league, they'll shut out plenty of teams.

We looked like we were going to equalise but a little drinks break and seemingly unnecessary subs by us killed our momentum.

Whiteman had a very promising debut.

Suppose they had to win one eventually, it's been about ten years.

Yep it has, thought it would to be honest, the right decision but cold comfort for Bournemouth.

Not that we give a toss about that!
