Another club to add to the "shouldn't lose to teams like Luton" list...

I think it's worth reminding said club that they've only scored one goal against us at Hillsborough since 1992.

Well, another game that we made hard work of, but another three points on the board. Sounds like Wycombe really pushed us for that today, so that first point on the board surely won't be far away for them. Good to see Vrancic pop up again with the late goal, though I'm not sure how I feel about us needing to go the full distance to claim late victories in all three wins this week: great to win in general and good for confidence to do so late on, but it doesn't feel like we're doing so convincingly enough to call ourselves true challengers at the top end over the course of the full season.

Silly of Idah to get himself sent off like that, but I'm sure he'll get some words in his ear and learn his lesson as he is still young and raw.

I haven’t taken issue with our results so far, but we definitely deserved a point at least today, we were denied a clear pen, although to be fair Norwich got a player sent off when they probably shouldn’t have been.

There were plenty of positive signs today but the longer we stay rooted to the bottom, the further adrift we get.

We are usually good at giving teams a leg up !

I see I was, as usual, wrong on my comment about Stoke not beating the better teams in this league with Oneil in charge. Impressive win for them over Brentford today.

Brentford don't look anything special this season to be fair.

Heavily reliant on the Norgaard who is injured and Pontus Jansson looks to have taken his eye off the ball and not playing at the standards he set last year. Not sure how well that Charlie Goode has done.

Toney looks a finisher but don't think he's got the overall ability and presence Watkins had, plus they've lost Benrahma.

Will trouble the play-offs I imagine but not the force of last season on the face of it.

They wouldn't have shipped 7 against us & Stoke last season.

I tuned into iFollow this afternoon just before kickoff. Was given the home commentary and while scrabbling for the settings cog to get the Southern voices was greeted with the Yorkshire twang equivillent of 'we should be beating shit like this’..........ahhhhhhh. What happened to that Weds prat that used to be on here shouting his mouth off every day?

You have a chance. Its a brutal League where everything that goes against you is more often than not punished. You just gotta adjust, pick up points where you can and stay in touch with others in the same boat.

Your whole season is to be above three other teams by the end. Your mindset on how you react to lots of defeats and getting outclassed often is what will define it. Survival today, consolidation tomorrow
If we keep playing like we are at the moment we have no chance. We’re the easiest side in this league to play against as we do the same thing every single game. Pretty much any team that has bothered to press us has had the most comfortable afternoon they’re likely to have all season as we gift them possession and give away countless chances. I don’t know what’s happened to the solid back line of last season but it’s looked absolutely woeful this year. We’re trying to play counterattacking football with the slowest front line you’ve ever seen and all of our attacks come via one player.

Next 4 games are Middlesbrough, Reading, Forest and Watford and I don’t see where we’re going to pick up a single point. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we’re not into double figures until December.

Just looking ahead at our fixture list - surely the number of games is going to be stretching some squads.

We have nine games between 1st Dec-2nd Jan, including against Norwich, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough (A), Bristol City, Reading. That is going to be brutal for us.

In fact, we just have less than 10 weeks to go until the end of the calendar year. We have 15 games in 9.5 weeks, plus in our case 3 Welsh internationals who could be playing some part of all 3 games in November.

This division is brutal - as I mentioned a few weeks ago on this thread, we went months without a single away point last season, stretching 10 games.

But there is time to turn it around - I think Coventry's players will start getting used to the pace of games.

Not making defensive mistakes is the key to staying up in this division. You get punished almost every time. We tried playing expansive football in the first half of last season - it wouldn't work because we'd be conceding twice a game.

I would fear for Wycombe if I didn't find it funny - why they didn't make any first team signings during the international break is beyond me.

The thing about pressing and defensive mistakes was us last season. It took us a lot of time last season for the players to get used to teams that press high so aggressively and in an organised way. It’s just not something they are used to having played in leagues 1/2. Really rated your business in the summer and think you’re a good side in the making, hopefully they will get used to it and come good.

Most of our lads eventually did although we do have the odd game, like Millwall midweek where it all falls apart. It’s a brutal league for sides coming up.

Weve won four times. Against the bottom four. Is that a good sign that Forest are equal fifth bottom?

Don't seem to get many goals despite creating a lot so think you'll get something.

Away at Brentford for us tonight. Going to be a very tricky one, possibly our toughest fixture so far. We've won three on the spin, but all three wins were narrow and came late on, so this is likely to be a real test of our credentials. I reckon it'll be a draw, but a high-scoring one as both teams will probably be quite open and willing to go on the attack.

Not great again from us last night, so we'll take the lucky point and move on. We need to get better than this quickly, as the luck with late goals will inevitably run out at some point.

Watched Wycombe vs Watford last night. Wycombe really could and probably should have won the game, although I did agree that the goal from the corner that got ruled out was the correct decision, they had a number of other decent chances. Foster was man of the match which says a lot.

Akinfenwa made a difference for Wycombe, mainly through the chaos factor and drawing defenders to him on those big balls forward and balls in the box, but on the ball he looked absolutely cooked. Missed a golden chance first half too just from not being athletic enough to reach the ball in time, lent back for it and got it all wrong. He makes a difference for them though just by being there.

Watford were really poor, passing was sluggish and played into Wycombes hands. Luckily they had Foster.

Yes - our usual rubbish performance against a side at the bottom who have actually played better than results show so we should have been warned.

We were sloppy and lack any great pace or threat whilst our defence looked all at see against big Bayo - probably weren’t prepared to face him.

Even when we scored there was no real celebration of joy.

We are set up to sit back and counter attack but last 2 games we have been caught out.

Some how we are still 3rd!

Did think it was a bit odd from Sarr when he scored just kind of not bothered about it! For a player touted for the money he is he didn’t look overly interested or imposed himself on the game. You might have a problem there if he decides the level is beneath him.

Murray did almost win it right at the end. Would have been harsh on Wycombe.

I suspect his mind might be elsewhere.

Not that long till the next transfer window of course.

Isn’t a centre forward either.

Murray did do ok but hasn’t really had much playing time.

Missing Deeney and Gray who might be more suited to this leve

Millwall at home, not the game you want when you're trying to break your home duck. Maybe a few changes as this fixture schedule is mad.

Rudd
Fisher, Bauer, Storey, Hughes
Ledson, Gallagher
Barkhuizen, Browne, Sinclair
Riis

Could be way off with that, would like to see DJ start but he's clearly lacking match fitness.

Forest at home for us. Be very interested to see if we can back up a decent performance from the weekend and if we employ a similar shape. Thought the 3 at the back worked well for us and gave us a bit more balance, especially with Dewsbury-Hall/Morrell in front, both of whom and in particular the former impressed me a lot on Saturday.

Could potentially have Rea, Collins, Cornick back, all of whom I think could add something to that shape. Rea perhaps the odd one out with it but could see him dropping back to a centre half role again and using his midfield ability to step in when necessary giving some tactical flexibility.

Forrest have been poor to start the season but Lyle Taylor always seems to play well against us so that’s a cause for concern. Hughton and NJ know each other well from Brighton days so could be an interesting match up.

Oh, I missed the fact that Quintilla's injury in last night's warm-up means we now have no senior left backs available for however long he's out for, given we decided to send McCallum back to Coventry on loan. It sounds like Sorensen did a decent job deputising for his first appearance in English football and for playing at left back as someone with a right foot, but we really don't want to be in the position of putting square pegs into round holes for any length of time.

I suppose Aarons could deputise at left back instead, but we don't have much back-up at right back either and I'd rather see Aarons kept in his best position. Maybe young Mumba could be given the nob? A bit risky, but we've brought this upon ourselves by leaving ourselves with one left back going into a very compact season.

Some really weird scores going in this match day. A lot of expensive players and basket case clubs flattering to deceive.

Luton kept it pretty tight first half, but classic negative Hughton inspires Forest once again!

Fucking disgraceful, every single one of them, gutless, talentless wankers.

Ryan Woods had the easiest game of his life against the useless c*** we had in midfield.

I don't understand how we can be this bad at home. It's not like Millwall parked the bus, they played football and should have won by 3 or 4, yet we still created fuck all and looked were completely devoid of quality or ideas.

Yet away from home we smash in 10 in 4 games.

Deepdale would be fucking toxic if we had fans in, i'd have thrown a bottle of piss at Joe Rafferty, we would see more useful distribution by rebounding it off a wheelie bin.

Fuck. Off. c***.
