Was interested to see what sort of money everyone else will be spending next season. Crewe are operating on the same budget as last season, which Graham McGarry said back in March was £1.2 million p/a. Some of our fans genuinely believe the cries of poverty from Davis and the board repeatedly but I really do believe a couple of teams spend less than we do. I expect a quarter of that total to be spunked on loan signings throughout the season but we've already spent £800K of our budget according to the dull one.

Believe Sheffield United are on £5.5 million according to McGarry, surely they'll be the highest/2nd highest along with Wigan. Our neighbours down the A500 have cut theirs to £1.7 million which I reckon is about the median for the division. As for lowest I reckon that Blackpool and Walsall will spend less than us, might be a couple more teams down there too like Colchester, Rochdale and Burton.

Would really help to dispel the myth that we're constantly in poverty and stop idiots like Peter Morse and Steve Davis banging on about how we spend way less than the rest of the league when there's not that much difference between the bottom half's spending at all.

Same as last season apparently. Heard it stated a £1.6m but who knows. Our accounts are awaited eagerly.

We've got a heathy bank balance and we are expecting a budget of at least around £3 million and most likely at most £3.5 Million. At the start of last season our budget was apparently set at around £1.5 Million but we overspent quite a lot with the budget ending up over £2 Million from what I can see.

Ours was £1.6M last season, I'd expect it to rise to about £2M this season.

We've been told our budget is effectively going up a bit next season to more of a midtable level, so hopefully we won't be struggling so much this year. We all know it doesn't quite work like that though and it will be interesting to see who we can bring in this summer - we're supposedly after four or five experienced heads which will be a refreshing change.

Ours will be top end again but it really is rather pointless whilst the board continue having their heads up their arses with Dickov.

Not too sure. I'd imagine it is a top 10 budget else Mowbray wouldn't have signed.

No idea why a chairman of another club would know our budget?

Would guess that ours will be high enough for automatic to be achievable...again (cos its worked well before). Would also guess that with parachute payments Wigan will have a higher budget then us.

Ours is going to be somewhere between 1.2 and 1.5 next season.

It was around 1.5 this year and we chased automatic promotion for the majority of the season, so I am hopefully Power can work his magic and rebuild another competitive team.

With the imminent sales of Luongo and Gladwin, and the money made from Wembley, we could effectively make £5 million pounds, just a shame none of it will go on to the team.

Have Scunthorpe got a big budget this season? Interested in Majewski who I presume is on good Championship wages and that Clucas who is valued at £1m.

Clucas is worth nowhere near 1M, they bought him for 200k about 6 months ago.

Still, you wouldn't expect Scunthorpe to be after some of the more in demand players in this division.

1.7 million although we started with that last season and it ended up 2.4 million, chairman has stated he will review based on how we are doing, attendances etc.

For such a short sentence, you've still managed to get a decent amount wrong.

Clucas' value will be subjective to those outside the club obviously, but if he does go, i'd suggest the club would be looking for something around £750-800k, (already turned down bids believed to be around £500k) which i'd say is not too far off £1m you say he isn't worth.

We bought him for either £70k or £80k (i forget) not £200k and although you're not massively out with the time-frame, it was more 9 months ago rather than 6.

It's not a problem mate, anytime.

So, looks like one of ours is one of, if not the lowest in the league (although the whole thread is based on hearsay). Whilst it doesn't excuse the tripe served up in the last two years, I don't think there's any argument our budget is absolutely dire for this league (though our academy expenditure probably near doubles it). The real question is whether it has to be as low as it is.

If Clucas is worth 1M then Mayor is worth at least 3M, but he isnt obviously.

Mayor is a different league to Clucas

I've seen both play, Clucas struggled to get into Mansfields squad and gets sold for 70k... Mayor broke into PNE and Sheff Wed squads at 21 and won L2 player of the year...

He's not even worth £1M, let alone Clucas

Ours will be slightly higher this summer. Wembley is going into whatever Smith wants it too apparently. Made 700k from that, then there's £150k from Troy Deeney and potentially a fee for Grigg's sell on this summer. So theoretically, we should have almost £1m sat around to be used if needed. As to whether Jeff will spend a penny of it? I wouldn't be surprised if we made say 1 extravagant signing on a very good wage, say 3k a week extra on the budget to normal so that we can spend £150k a year of that money etc.

Ledesma would be nice, or Paterson back on loan. We can but dream...

Wasn't our chairman, our radio guy. He must've got it from the guys who commentate on your games.

As Spike has alluded already, ours will be between £3-£3.5m. It ended up around £2.5 this year and we've supposedly an extra £800k to add to it.

If, however, Paladini completes his takeover (could be as soon as this week now) as is looking likely, I'd expect that to go up a reasonable amount. Nothing silly, but perhaps another million or so.

Paladini :bg: hasn't he ruined every club he's been at?

He has certainly had some indiscretions, yep!

But he also took a penniless QPR from an almost identical position to the Premier League - with the help of some very wealthy backers.

We're in a position now where our current owners cannot afford any more. So we could easily tread water and remain a middling L1 club or we can take a gamble, hope he has learnt his lessons and perhaps enjoy more upwards movement on a more competitive playing field.

We're certainly going to be one of the big spenders next season, given our cup exploits of recent seasons.

As per previous City fans, the budget will be £3m at a minimum, but I fully expect us to exceed £3.5m if Paladini takes over.

Our budgets whilst Parkinson has been in charge;

12/13 - £2.1m
13/14 - £2.7m
14/15 - £2.6m
Next season - £3m-£3.5m+
