Exactly, hence asking.

Seems a long way just for a friendly unless they're in the area for a few days on a training camp or something.

Huddersfield are coming to us, that almost two hours, doesn't seem that far for a friendly

What the hell are Newport doing in your neck of the woods?!
I dunno I just support my team. But has been said. Its only couple of hours.
Plus we have had them use our ground when they play Pompey. Even had 2 coach loads of their fans. In our bar pre Pompey game.

Looks like our full pre season fixture list has been announced

3/7 Buxton FC (A)
7/7 Derby (H)
11/7 Championship Team? TBC
14/7 Rotherham (H)
18/7 Notts County (H)
25/7 Stockbridge Park Steels (A) (Looks like the Consett friendly has been cancelled)
28/7 Micklover Sports (A)
1/8/ Coalville (A)

Really pleased with this. Looks like the right balance of a few decent friendlies to bring a crowd in along with some friendlies against lower league oppostion has been struck. Too many times in the last 3 or 4 years we have 5 friendlies against league oppostion and chase the ball for 90 minutes and one friendly against a lower league side get raped 4-1 and think "Oh Shit"!

Hoping the TBC Championship side is Forest and the friendly with Coalville is part of a deal to sign a few of their strikers who between have hit a hatful in their league last season.

Fairly happy with our list as things stand:

11th July - Rushden & Higham (A) [@Hayden Road, original ground of Rushden Town]
14th July - Northampton Spencer (A) [Manager Andy Peaks's former club before joining us, a team we have good relations with I believe]
18th July - Enfield Town (A) [Nice early tester against higher placed side]
21st July - Biggleswade Town (H) [Another home tester against a team a division above]
25th July - Wealdstone (H) [Exciting to play a team represented on here, some of our fans loving the idea of meeting the raider]
28th July - Wellingborough Town (H/A/N) [Ground share derby pre-season game]
29th July - Lutterworth Athletic (A) [Guessing this will be more of an U21/trialistis/those who didn't play 28th]
1st August - Loughborough Dynamo (H) [Hopefully a little confidence builder against a step 5 side before the start of the proper season]

[TBC] - Buckingham Athletic (A) - likely U21s fixture with a small cup on the line.

A good balance of testing fixtures from higher sides and visiting some local clubs we have good relationships with.

11/07: Tadcaster Albion (A)
14/07: Brighouse Town (A)
18/07: Stockport County (A)
25/07: Hyde United (A)
28/07: Oldham Athletic (H)
29/07: Shelley (A)

Boss so far that. Taddy are one of the most likable sides around, Brighouse is our closest away ground, a trip to Stockport = a trip to the Crown, and I think we're playing York City at some point too. Apparently Shelley's outside Huddersfield somewhere but I've no idea, and if you type their address into Google Maps you end up at a town centre halls of residence.

That's what we've announced so far with maybe another still to come, fairly pleased we've (so far) steered clear of premier league/championship development sides, two or three of them last year gave us no test at all and were a complete waste of time.

There is a team of that name in the Hellenic League West, which covers Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Swindon...so I might be tempted to give Pompey a miss!

Our PSF with Derby has been Cancelled due to a "change in their plans". Tossers. Gonna rob us of much needed income.

Might be down to us DSL. We're now playing them on the 11th, is that the date that was set for you before?

Think its due to a change in Manager. Under Clement they are now starting Pre season training a week later rendering games against Nuneaton on the 4th and us on the 7th not worth it. Instead starting against you guys on the 11th.

Fairly uninspiring at the moment for Barrow:

Sat 4th Furness Select XI (A) ko 2pm (traditional opener against a 'Best Eleven' of local players)
Sat 11th Kendal Town (A) ko 2pm
Wed 15th Lancaster (A) ko 7.30pm
Sat 18th Harrogate Town (A) ko 3pm
Tue 21st Chorley (A) ko 7.45pm

Hoping for at least one more which will offer a bit more of a test...
-
Edit, Leeds Utd youth team added, + 1 more to come. Really hope it's a full strength League 2 club to see how we're measuring up...

Sat July 25th or Tue July 28th – Home Friendly TBA
Sat Aug 1st Leeds United XI (H) 3.00 pm

What sort of team would we expect you to put out when we visit you Nansan? First team/Reserves or a mixture of the 2?

We have announced another Friendly at Home to Sheffield Wednesday on the 11th of July.

Will be our first meeting since the famous 14-0 friendly!!

Not so sure they will bring the academy this time!

Still waiting for a full list of ours but Leicester appears to be the main one. We've got a Norwich XI but that'll be a reserve/youth side arranged with our very own Darren Huckerby.

Saturday 11 July: Vauxhall Motors v Tranmere (kick-off 4pm)
Saturday 18 July: Cammell Laird 1907 v Tranmere (kick-off 1pm)
Saturday 18 July: Marine v Tranmere (kick-off 4pm)
Tuesday 21 July: Bangor City v Tranmere
Friday 24 July: Tranmere v Blackburn Rovers
Saturday 1 August: Tranmere v Shrewsbury Town

I presume for the first pairs of games, they'll split the squad in two and bolster with trialists. Probably away for Shrewsbury, but might try and make Blackburn.
We sometimes get a game against Liverpool or Everton reserves thrown in, but nothing arranged yet.
