Who's it going to be then? Will Hurst falter under the heat at Grimsby? Will Brabin be good enough to get the chance to improve his excellent playoff final record at Tranmere? Will Gary Mills be able to get Wrexham back towards the top end, and avoid the fate of Kevin Wilkin a few months back?

Below is a full list of the managers taking part in this wonderful event this year (in brackets is when they started):

Aldershot Town - Barry Smith (27th April 2015)
Altrincham - Lee Sinnott (25th May 2011)
Barrow - Darren Edmondson (11th December 2013)
Boreham Wood - Ian Allinson (22nd May 2008)
Braintree Town - Danny Cowley (30th April 2015)
Bromley - Mark Goldberg (18th June 2011)
Cheltenham Town - Gary Johnson (30th March 2015)
Chester FC - Steve Burr (18th January 2014)
Dover Athletic - Chris Kinnear (22nd January 2013)
Eastleigh FC - Richard Hill (12th September 2012)
FC Halifax Town - Neil Aspin (28th April 2009)
Forest Green Rovers - Adrian Pennock (12th November 2013)
Gateshead FC - Malcolm Crosby (5th June 2015)
Grimsby Town - Paul Hurst (23rd March 2011)
Guiseley FC - Mark Bower (19th September 2013)
Kidderminster Harriers - Gary Whild (5th March 2014)
Lincoln City - Chris Moyses (3rd November 2014)
Macclesfield Town - John Askey (3rd April 2013)
Southport FC - Paul Carden (30th January 2015)
Torquay United - Paul Cox (17th June 2015)
Tranmere Rovers - Gary Brabin (5th May 2015)
Welling United - Loui Fazakerley (3rd March 2015)
Woking FC - Garry Hill (20th January 2011)
Wrexham FC - Gary Mills (28th April 2015)

Take your pick!

This will be Hurst's last season if we don't come close to the title I feel, think fan pressure will pull through this year unfortunately, however he will get most of the season unless we are for some reason a long way off come Jan.

Moyses will possibly be the most likely to go if Lincoln struggle, most others are pretty new in the job or at clubs that are unlikely to sack managers for being mid-table.

Moyses has said he will walk away if things are going wrong, after all we aren't paying him.

7 new managers this season I think? Can't recall it being that high since we've been down here.

As above, Moyses won't get sacked. He's said he won't hang around too long if things aren't going right.

We've had a new away support thread, season bets, pre-season friendlies, Isthmian league, top scorer, Conference South, Conference North, Hereford, Darlington, season tickets, squad reviews, Southern League and the Conference Premier so it's probably about time I started the Administration Thread again. :bdick:

Sacked or leaving by mutual consent same thing

Unless alan buckley suddenly decides he wants to come out of retirement. Only just noticed malcolm crosby is back in management, that could be a shrewd appointment

Who the shite is Barry Smith?

Apart from him being Aldershots manager!

Former Dundee and Alloa manager.. played 400 odd games for Dundee as a player too.

Agree with Frealaf, unless we go winless for like 15 games then Hurst will be pretty safe. If we're absolutely miles away by January he'll probably be gone but it'd take something absolutely drastic for him to be sacked first.

I think it will be Lee Sinnott at Alty or Lord Aspin himself after the fans get pissed at more ineffective hoofball

Really? He's about 86 and hasn't managed properly for over 20 years. He's definitely my pick for first gone.

Interesting to see Garry Hill is the third longest serving manager in the league, knew he'd been around for a while but wasn't aware of that.

If Eastleigh aren't amongst the top five come Christmas then Richard Hill will be out of the door (I know this because the Eastleigh boardroom told me). Barry Smith at Aldershot will last the season because they won't be able to pay him off with just a packet of Haribo. Aspin, Pennock, Crosby and Moyses other feasible candidates.

Well I'll take another "ineffective" season in the top half of this league ;)

I wouldnt mind a manager who took a poor side to a cup final.... When it was a properly contested competition too

Smart money has to be on Moyses as first to leave, surely. Very little fan backing (rightfully so), our opening ten aren't great, entirely new squad pretty much, needs time to gel etc.

Common sense tells you that it takes a while for partnerships to build, surely?

Worse than the 'gelling' thing, is a new manager coming in and straight away giving it the old 'fitness' lines.

It's amazing to see how many managers there are so new. 9 appointed in 2015. I'd have to think all of those appointed in 2015 won't have too much to worry about too soon.

Frontrunners for me are Moyses, Pennock and then the more likely outside candidates are Aspin and Whild.

Moyses and Pennock don't appear to have the fans on their side, and the board's backing, in very different situations, may easily disappear quickly. Whild could be in for a, well, wild ride. Reduced playing budget will reduce results and probably attendances.

Others mentioned such as Sinnott at Alty have the pleasure of low expectation I believe, so will get until December when clubs will look at changing before the Jan transfer window, and I think Richard Hill at Eastleigh will be under pressure before then, but also won't be booted before December.

Obviously anyone can pick anyone on the list and say "(manager) if his team start disastrously", and generally be right, but I don't see circumstances starting badly enough for Grimsby for it to happen.

The other question is when? I see the first sacking as generally around late October or November (no stats to back this up, just general impression of the history).

Malcolm Crosby just reeks of being a terrible appointment, as if Gateshead have no idea of what they are trying to do - do they think they can challenge for promotion or are they just looking to consolidate their National League status?

Pennock and Hill both could come under pressure very quickly if the few matches of the season don't go their teams' way.

  • Wrong. The recent appointment dates are a marker for clubs that change managers more frequently than a stripper changes her knickers. As for Aspin dream on, unless he shags one of the women in the chairman's immediate family, he's unsackable.

I meant that I think most if not all of them would wait until December/January, when the first sacking would be gone. Taking a second look through the list I still stand by that. It won't be one that was appointed in 2015 to go first.

Lee Sinnott won't get sacked first, if at all. If he goes, his son will too, reducing our squad size to about 13.

I do, however, see Alty as relegation fodder this year. New players look very uninspiring, still only one real striker, the midfielders can't hit a barn door and the defence falls asleep at least once every game.
