To think Kyle Perry used to get a game ahead of him last time we were at this level.

Anyway, back on topic, good news IMO.

Wrong. If you are going to make comments like that at least be factually right,.... Reeves started 41 games in 2013/14, Perry 20,
last year Reeves started 45 and Perry 18. Reeves missed about 3 games with injury when perry started. They played together quite often when plan B was preferred by Sinnott.

How's Jas Singh done? He was never given a proper run in the squad here and he always impressed me when he played for us. Also do you still have Calvin Dinsley?l

Jas has been brilliant, occasional dodgy kick out but his shot stopping has saved us quite a few points. Calvin has been in and out the squad a little, great passer of the ball but not much goal threat.

Good to see Jas Singh doing well, I just wish we'd have seen some kind of ability in any area from Dinsley

We've created a monster.

Seriously though, the benefits are too much to ignore.

We've re-signed left back Scott Duxbury, one of the many players Young got rid of, he was brilliant in his first season, was being watched by a load of FL clubs but tailed off in the second season and ended up at Northwich Victoria under Gannon and ended up in the division team of the year.

That probably completes our defence:

Mark Ross - Chris Smalley - Mike Clarke - Scott Duxbury

which, on first look doesn't really convince me, bar Mark Ross. Smalley is okay, not an upgrade on O'Hanlon and Clarke has never played a game at this level, and who knows what Duxbury is like now.

It seems to me like we're going to have a team like Gannon's second spell, young, attacking, but lacking defensively. The most important signing we'll make is a striker, we need a 20 goal a season player.

Northwich seam to be producing a few gems at present - Astles went to Chester in January (I think) and is highly rated. Jordan Williams came to Barrow at the same time and is now in the England C squad, and we have also signed Richie Bennettt from them who looks very promising - so I wouldn't worry about Clarke

Now confirmed Scott Leather has signed for Chorley from Altrincham, pleased with this signing. Things going well for us so far.
Mark Ross is a class signing for you, strong, steady, consistent player

We've made a lot of mediocre signings IMO. Started off really well with Mark Ross but the rest I am indifferent about.

I sort of understand where you are coming from but I think that is harsh.

Duxbury is more than capable of performing at this level, is at the age where he can still improve and comes to us after getting in the division team of the season. Thomas did really well in a struggling team and is very highly rated by Hednesford fans, and no one knows Clarke as well as Gannon.

They may not be big names for this level but Ross seems to be an upgrade on Morton, Thomas looks on paper much better than any of our wingers from last season, I'd start a confident improving Duxbury than a declining Roberts and I think Gannon will be hoping Clarke can do a better/similar job to Connolly on a much cheaper contract.

I also don't think that Thomas and Clarke will necessarily begin the season in our first choice side.

We are still likely to bring in a goalkeeper, a centre back, a central midfielder, two wingers and two strikers - plenty of time for a couple of proven quality attacking players to be brought in to take us to that next level. - perhaps starting with Danny Lloyd tomorrow.

You say Northwich but it's basically Gannon, he signed all three and then they excelled under his guidance.

Well don't get me wrong I am not saying they're bad signings, I can see the logic behind them and indeed they have the potential to be very good. I just feel like maybe the club should have stayed a little tight lipped around their policy. If you think back to when we were hearing 'we want proven Conference North players' and 'We will weaken the teams around us' it hasn't really materialised yet with the exception of Ross.

Danny Lloyd will be a good signing, we just need some other 'big' names alongside him as right now the likes of Clarke/Thomas/Duxberry are just solid signings. If we want to get out of this division next season, we need more than that. I will be a little disappointed if our strike force is going to Odejayi/Lloyd though. I honestly think Odejayi flatters to deceive a lot.

That said, at least there has been no outright duds you could tell wouldn't work out like under Young/Bogie/Lord. I still can't get over how many people were duped by the Anthony Robinson signing. Someone who had been retired for over 6 months, but it's alright cos Neil Young has seen him run around a bit in a gym to prove his fitness despite being 4 stone overweight!

I think Gannon has always said it would be a mix of proven Conference North alongside Evo-Stik players he believed could make the step up, and wasn't the quote more like "if we can strengthen while making our rivals weaker then that's a bonus"

In three seasons down here we have never picked up players like Ross and Thomas who have come to us on the back of good seasons at the same level. While we would all love for us to handpick the likes of Higgins, Stephenson and Denton it simply isn't going to happen on our budget.

Lloyd (if he is tomorrow's signing) I should imagine will play off the left wing in a 4231, and I wouldn't be surprised to see someone of similar quality come in and play off the right (I'd love Turner/Kirby back or someone like Elliott Durrell but I should imagine the chances are very slim) with Thomas as the bench option. I doubt Odejayi will stay tbh and if he does then it will only be as back up.

Like to wish Danny Lloyd well. Been a great for the club and I know hes only been on the bench this season but made a huge impact. Fact that his last min goal in the final was rulled out for offside could have been the best leaving present of them all.

Moving onto a new season.League looks tough this year. The gaffer signed a new contract today so thats a great start. Apprently some big signings to follow which we have been working on since January. But no idea who though. The waiting game begins

I'm expecting Jason Walker and possibly Simon Grand to sign for you - I believe Grand lives at Chorley now so you or them would make sense.

I'm assuming Danny Lloyd has improve since his short stint with us?

He was decent-ish, but more in the 'trier' category than anything else.

Scored 15 goals last season from the bench. I know a few fans are not impressed about him leaving and felt he should have started. I think he will score goals for stockport too so I guess he has improved

But most were when reeves was coming back from injury or when his form was poor, 11 games in 2 seasons isnt exactly many but I do agree that Perry wasnt up to much on the field but was great in the dressing room and off the pitch, maybe with more characters like him we wouldnt have gone down :dk:

alot of clubs at this level capable of attracting a very big crowd for this level on there day. Stockport, Darlo, Kiddy, Telford, Halifax, Boston, FC United, Salford, Chorley and Altrincham all capable of very decent 4 figure attendances, that don't look out of place in the football league in some cases.

Despite all this probably be another pub team with ££££££££ that romps it like Fylde.

you (Fylde) have signed our 3rd choice Centre back Steve Williams - that will give Halifax fans someone to shout at ;)

As expected Meppen-Walter brought in and I should imagine relegates Clarke to the bench.
