They can afford to make it a success - though it does make some good players at this level available -Salford set to sign a couple I believe.
Yes, Fylde captain Tom Hannigan joins Alty today on a 2 year deal. Very happy with that.

Good signing that, if we had not already signed CMW I would have been annoyed that you got him.

Two year deal must have swayed it.

That muppet that took you from embarrassing whipping boys to very near safety (the width of a post), a first ever Wembley appearance and an FA Trophy win. He also pulled off some brilliant results, beating big clubs like ourselves and Grimsby was an amazing effort given what he was working with.

Jim's better off out of there, far too good a manager and bloke to be slumming it at a place like that.

Fylde, Stockport, Darlington, Boston, Kiddy, Alty, Harrogate, Tamworth and Salford will all finish above you. No chance of the title.

Sad to see Jim go, as I thought he deserved a shot at getting us back up - width of a post of keeping us up ad Chris FGR says.

However, given his record at Stalybridge in Conf North, his self admitted transfer mistakes, his turning down of an 18 month contract at christmas and his constant moaning about wanting to go full time (he went full time at Staly) then I can see the other side of the argument.

No pressure on Billy Heath!...

Quite surprised at Halifax getting rid ofJim Harvey, who made a decent stab at keeping you up. The real muppets at your club are whoever was daft enough to appoint Kelly as manager, his dismal stint cost the Shaymen their NL spot, more than anything else.

Heath looks like a decent appointment. Bit surprised he didn't have a go at keeping North Ferriby up, as unusually I agree with Chris FGR and think the competition in NL North is such that a play-off place would be a major achievement for Halifax next season.

Try telling our fan base that :ffs:. Some thought we should 'piss this tinpot league' anyway and now Jim's gone it gives them even more reason (in their heads) to scream blue murder if we don't

BREAKING: #SMFC 2015/16 player of the season Michael Nottingham has agreed terms with @SalfordCityFC.

Quality signing that for Salford. Was the best defender I saw in the league last season and can chip in with goals too.

He's dropping down from National League to the North for what reason?

Player of the season for Solihull Motors, you'd think he would wanna test himself against better opponents.... Money talks, Salford will no doubt bring in bigger signings aswell.

Going to be a hard team to beat next season.

Salford are going up again, they've got themselves a fantastic player in the Sheriff. Looks like it will be a struggle next season.

Glad you like Morpeth. You'll be playing them soon.

That's just silly and you know as well as everyone here does that the only difference between you and Morpeth is a bloke who's spent his entire adult life sponging off the tax payer. You haven't earned the right to consider yourselves the equals and certainly not the betters of clubs like ours and the other REAL football clubs. When you've taken 10,000 to Wembley for a Mickey Mouse cup final in a relegation season you can come back and ask for some respect if you like but expect to be disappointed. :£:£:£:£

We took nearly 10k in 99 v Kingstonian in the trophy final at the Old Wembley, a stadium which your club NEVER played at, and we did TWICE, and that was when we were a small part time Conference team.

And you know as well as I do that our club was well established at this level, were full time and in our current ground long before Vince. So just more uneducated bollocks from you, as usual.

So Forest Green has actually LOST pulling power? An 8,000 drop in fans heading to Wembley should be alarming.

Different times/situation.

And we took over 4k last week. So that's a 6k drop, not 8.

I'm more interested in our average league gates, which are around 1800 now. In 99 they were around half that.

Our club announced during the week before the game that our sales had gone past the 4k mark. So we had at least that many there.

Oh well, I guess 6,000 fewer isn't that bad. Just a reduction of 60%.

As I said different times. And play off finals don't attract as many floating fans as cup finals seem to, for whatever reason.

Anyway back on topic, Halifax have really shot themselves in the foot imo. They had a quality manager who was doing a good job and they've got rid. Poor decision.

Were you challenging for the league in 99, whilst bankrolled?

Fans come and watch a winning side and one that is up there, if you got in to the league your home support would probably drop, if anything.

They certainly have the finances, it's not as if they really have to balance the books. Wouldn't bet too much on them going straight up just yet though. There was something very different to Salford last season, than the one that beat us to the title in the first division the season before. TBH i think the only word I can use to describe it is 'nastiness'. Last season they seemed unable to bully teams, something they did do the season before. Its all good trying to play nice football, but sometimes when things aren't going right for you, you just need the strength on the pitch to bully teams and win that battles and scraps that in the end will win the match. Seems like the likes of NFU were very good at that last season, I can imagine teams in this league will be bigger stronger and better organised. A big challenge to adapt again for ourselves and Salford.

Pissing in the wind on this one pal, 4000 for a promotion play off at the national stadium is indefensible and shows the embarrassing discrepancy between your hyperbolic propaganda and the acualité. As for your other comments, you forget that I and almost everyone else here had real respect for your club when it was punching above its weight on its own terms. Vince's tax dollars and your own overblown small time unfounded arrogance has put paid to that. :£:£:£:£

Not necessarily the case. Some drop because being in a National League impacts their daily jobs too much. Plenty have opted to stay in regional football.
