Can only spend what we have, we rely on gate money unlike most clubs. The fact that we average 2,000 fans yet still struggle against clubs that don’t even get half of what we do shows just how much most clubs are propped up.

Or just shows how much money you actually waste?

Nobody can deny there's a lot of clubs with small fanbases spending a lot of money. I'm not even bitter about it, it's just reality.

We've just had someone put some money in this past season ourselves, now we don't. Same with you season before etc.

Going to be an interesting season and clubs will need a lot of extra income.list of ground capacity at 25% of seats.
Gateshead. 2950
York City. 2150
Chester. 1375
Boston. 1250
Gloucester. 802
Kiddy. 785
Telford. 555
Flyde. 500
BPA. 450
Hereford. 440
Southport. 415
Alfreton. 375
Altrincham. 330
Chorley. 244
Spennymoor. 185
Darlington. 146
Blyth. 132
Curzon. 131
Guiselely. 127
Brackley. 126
Farsley. 100
Kettering. 76
Leamington 73

Some figures might be slightly wrong but taken from Internet.
Some clubs better get some temporary seats fitted soon before signing players if season starts at 25% of seats, how the hell do leamington survive on 73 entering ground.
Gateshead and Flyde only clubs without enough fans to fill ground out,
Kiddy will be a good bet next year, couple of good signing and wolves renting pitch.

"Most clubs"? Your league position is about where you are in the attendance table as well?

Completely wrong about us but as this is the north it doesnt matter. We'll still be in the national

Amari Morgan Smith has left us to rejoin kidderminster harriers.

Sigh but not all surprised. Few players seem to want to stay nowadays and offer our chairman a wad of notes and he is sure to take it especially nowadays with the current circumstances.

Important now we find an adequate replacement which will be difficult

Got to say, I'm actually glad we didn't make the NLN playoffs this year. It seems like a no win situation for a few clubs at NLN/NLS level.

I can understand it for the NL sides, after all there is the potential reward of the FL league which brings with in neigh on £1m in additional revenue from solidarity payments etc and further funding for Academies etc. But at NLN and NLS level, you're taking on the financial commitment of the playoffs in current terms where it is uncertain what revenue can be generated in the next 3-6 months. And the only thing you get in return is an increased cost base when you actually get back to playing football. Higher wages, increased travelling costs etc.

I'm sure there will be some of the clubs in both divisions who's owners wont think twice about the cost because they're subsidised to an extent that this level of support isn't out of the ordinary. But as a fan owned club I'm glad it's not a decision we've had to make this year cause it would invariably mean canibalising some of next yeara budget into the current period, especially as we would need further ground improvements to be made at the next level to sustain NL football.

We're 3rd best supported and finished 6th. Not as you said. Big difference between 3rd and 6th

Agree with a lot of this. But I guess it`s tough to explain to a squad that has battled into a playoff slot that they can`t compete because of the cost. Might mean an exit for the most ambitious ones. Brackley actually close to unique because of the geography, yes wage costs would go up a bit, but anecdotally I`d think that NL might mean lower travel costs with all those southern sides. NLN means a long distance trip every fortnight, give or take.

It's not big though, is it? it worked out as 3 places or, if you prefer, 2 points or so.

Was surprised this happened also surprised we paid a nominal fee, our new owners clearly trying to make an impression.

Very happy he's joined though, a great striker at this level hopefully we can help with his personal reasons for leaving Alfreton as well.

Chorley just confirmed Harry Cardwell as first new signing, ex Grimsby he came on loan last season but suffered an injury almost immediately after scoring in his 25 minute spell with the club. Very pleased with this signing.

What's happening with Ed Williams? Likely to leave or just a poor run of form so not in your 11? We were linked with a move for him a little while back but I can't see how he'd fit in to a team that has McClure, Mensah, Asante and Robert.

First 4 months with us he was carrying us. The links with Villa and clubs started and since then he's really not shown what he can do. I think clubs may have found him out because he just wasn't able to drift past players like he was at first. We've offered him a new deal but honestly (and I know this will come back to bite me) I wouldn't be disappointed if he left.

Second addition for Chorley as Ollie Shenton joins from Stoke, Ollie was at Kiddie on loan last season, at least we gave a squad beginning to take shape and moving to a hybrid model.

It's a good signing depending on the system you play, are you still playing your defensive style football? He won't suit that system at all. In the first 2 months of his loan spell I forgot we had him, couldn't remember him even touching the ball really but once he grabbed a goal he seemed to spring into life. He's definitely a confidence player.

Hopefully we are moving away from that defensive style as it will largely be a new squad next season, so am hopeful he will be a success.

It looks like you'll be keeping 1 of the Newby's next season (Elliot), but that Alex has had offers from EFL teams one local(ish) to Barrow - my guess is that club would be Morecambe.
