Don't worry Barnet fans, Danny Searle is available.

It would actually be mildly amusing if they sacked Kewell to get Searle in

Lee Bircham gone at Hemel now. Total bloodbath in the non-league managerial ranks today.

That man is hanging on by a thread. If he goes before the weekend it'll be absolutely typical.

We play Stockport, Aldershot and Barnet within the next 4 games. It's a CONSPIRACY, no doubt about it.

Ruthless, but Kewell was so incompetent that it was hard to see how things can get better under him.

Brennan as "caretaker" - I think in practice it's his job to lose now.
He seems to keep getting jobs despite being rubbish .

Must be the name ?

We play Aldershot this weekend and Barnet the weekend after. I'm thinking of putting money on us losing both games

And two managerial departures from Barnet in one day as U18 manager Mark Jones gets the Hemel job.

Mark Molesley back, with it looks like Terry Brown as Director of Football

Looks like we've actually put some thought into it!

Just about the best appointments we could make in keeping the fanbase onside, given the financial constraints the Board are putting in place right now. I’m certainly happy, two blokes who understand and love the club and will know what’s ahead of them, a young amibitious manager keen to put the Southend shambles behind him and Browny who knows non-league inside out and has a depth of contacts that few in this division could match.

Did well in his first job, rubbish in his second, no one succeeds at Oldham and then now t*his has tipped him over the edge and will be lucky to get another job now.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

It was boring, pass the ball around at back shitefest when he was at Crawley...unless you are talking about his very short spell in charge at Watford u21s (one game, lost 8-1)

He was in charge for a season I think and we mostly lost badly with Kewell often blaming the ref .

He will want the main job. He’s no DoF for sure. Brennan taking over sometime this season was always going to happen. You will play very attacking football, but defensively you will be more suspect than you are even now. His football could be called naive at this level, though Dave Anderson might temper his ways.

Was Josh Doherty as bad for you as he is for us?

Surprised at the timing, particularly after 2 decent away results, but I think Searle had lost the fans and was ultimately hugely out of his depth at this level. Shame it didn’t work out for him as he seems like a really nice guy, but the right decision from our board IMO.

Only names currently in the mix (that I’ve heard) are Mark Molesley and Neil Smith. Molesley would definitely be the popular choice for supporters.
I actually think Searle did the best with his limited resources. He managed to turn Harry Pan into a double figures striker. Overall, I thought he did reasonably well to keep you relatively out of trouble the last 2 years. Not to say he’s been outstanding but I do think he’s had a pretty shit hand to work from. Losing Rees and a few other solid first trainers over the summer was a blow and replacements don’t look up to it. I’m assuming he barely had a budget either. On limited funds, is there an obvious choose for anyone to do better?

First season we under achieved and finished 18th although we showed signs of progress. Second season we improved a lot and were 11th at one point, but the end of last season, poor summer recruitment and a horrendous start finished him off unfortunately. Constantly claiming we have a bottom 4 budget and that we're punching above our weight to compete with the likes of Altrincham and Halifax wasn't his brightest move either.

I wasn't pushing for him to go and its never nice to see a manager sacked, but 2 wins in his last 16 games is a run that leads to dismissal at most clubs these days. I can understand why we've gone early too, particularly as our attendances were starting to nosedive.

Apart from the fact he's a club legend from his playing days I dont know much about Molesley as a manager, but I get the impression from a few Southend fans on here that he wasn't as bad as results suggested last season?
