Someone on our board reckons that is our owners choice but he turned us down a few weeks back and signed a new contract.

Stott's the kind of bloke who will ring again though.
Isn't that a breach of rules? You know, "tapping up" another club's contracted manager? :dk:

Doubt Challinor would drop down to this.
He won't, why would he, it's absurd! Stockport fans, as ever, have an inflated perception of their own attraction. Like when they thought we'd snap their arm off when they offered £50k for Jamie Vardy. :dk:

If Rusk has been / will be let go imminently, then a potential replacement could be Andy Morrison the ex Connahs Quay manager.

did well with them by all accounts and usurped TNS as the incumbents in recent years. Will be Manchester based too, although will potentially be too big a personality to clash with your chairman/owner

would that go down well with the County massive?
Someone we haven’t heard of with no NL or lower EFL experience - we’ve just sacked someone who fitted bill thanks.

Rumours are that Parkinson at Alty has applied.

I think we'll try for a bigger name but I wouldn't rule him out.

He wouldn’t be at the top of my list but he’d definitely be on it. Would take him ahead of Askey.

We're all still majorly in the dark on it all. If had a tenner and had to have horse in the race, I'd predict it might just be Parkinson if he's applied. We'll try for some more big names, get knock backs and go with him. He'd probably bite our hand off for a two year deal and we'd probably view it more as a "see how you go to the end of the season" without actually telling him that.

That game on BT was Ardley vs Gannon!
Ah, I must be thinking of the PO games rather than against each other then.

He's turned himself into Player/Manager at Grantham now I think!

If he says he wants to go do you hold out for that or do you come to a deal.
I'm assuming there's an understanding it needs to be paid otherwise he'd not have signed the contract. The sides likely to come in for him are going to be able to spend that sort of money on a manager as well i.e. Championship sides or Ipswich/Sunderland size L1 ones.

This post completely sums up Stockport's unearned arrogance.

I was told by someone who had been right about everything he’s told me in he past that we’ve been in touch with Appleton and he wants to come but that price puts a spin on things.

Am I missing something? Why would Appleton leave Lincoln for the NL?

Hasn’t Appleton got a fairly long history of walking out on clubs to make fairly surprising sideways moves? Sure he’d go for a backwards one if the price was right.

Salford lad as well so nice and local and might be more of a consideration after what he’s gone through this year.

Strangely enough I can't remember any of my pals thinking that we had a realistic chance of signing Vardy let alone Halifax 'snapping our arms off', but please don't let facts get in your way of attacking us with your usual venom.

Big appointment for Stockport, lots of money already spent so the remit will be to get them to play together, not sign another half dozen. If it were Notts I'd want us to approach Wild at Halifax or Woodman at Bromley as they both seem to know how to mould a team pretty quickly without much fuss or a big budget. They both come across as very competitive and positive in interviews too and Sockport need some oomph putting into the players right now.

Actually Woodman looks tailor made for Southend, great opportunity there for someone as the expectation levels are on the floor.

Even we aren't looking for Maher and Co's replacements yet after 1 defeat.

I can't remember whether he joined Portsmouth when they were in admin or they went into admin shortly after his arrived but the administrator sold everything from underneath him. After a while he left and joined Blackpool under the Oystons before finding them difficult to deal with and headed to Blackburn when they were all over the shop under the Venky's.

More down to poor choices early in his managerial career really. He said himself he was too keen and took anything going instead of studying those behind the scenes. The first settled Club he joined was Oxford in L2 and did very well there but new owners came in and wanted to change the transfer policy and shake things up, which he didn't agree with and he ended up going to Leicester (assistant manager?) before their managerial change meant he left. Then to us via a very short stint back in academy football.

Always ends up back at WBA when he's out of work for too long, although his best mate left in the summer so perhaps he won't do so going forward.

Stockport have a choice here, they go down the Wrexham route and lob a load of cash at the shiniest thing they can see with no thought at how it might work at this level. Or they get the best this level has to offer and stick with it.

Challinor is the obvious choice, although you must consider you’ve still got to visit BP and he’ll be lucky to get himself out of there in one piece.
