Rightly or wrongly we all thought Chesterfield were going to get in financial trouble under Rowe anyway so if they do I wouldn’t blame Cook.

He was a name linked with us when Rusk left but was still clinging onto his job at Ipswich so never came into the equation but one I would have been delighted with.

As already previously said the slight question marks are will he try and change you too much and mess with the winning formula?

And, why did it go so wrong in his last job at Ipswich and is that Richardson factor huge?
TractorBoys will give you a better explanation than I can, but from the outside it seemed that last season he'd already written it off when he came in and from memory made a fair few comments about players going to be released, transfer listed, not being good enough etc (Norwood being one who was out in the cold but brought back in and scoring goals).

They had a about 40 ins and outs during the summer, which is a crazily high turnover of players and it did seem that he (or those above him) were signing a load of good players rather than remembering they needed to fit into a system. Don't get me wrong, Ipswich needed a hell of a shake up after Lambert boring them all to tears for years but it was kid in a sweet shop stuff, assuming he was the one buying.

There was talk about Richardson being a big miss for him but I'm not sure on that one.

Sorry if I've missed it- how long is Cook's contract?

The Richardson thing is complete waffle as well. It makes me laugh some of the theories that people come to. Cook is his own man, he doesn't need Richardson holding his hand for him. The reason he's taken him everywhere is because he trusted him, I very much doubt it was because he NEEDED him.

Just a point of note as well. Cook first met Richardson when he came into Accrington and Richardson was caretaker manager.... exactly the same scenario happening here with Webb.

Fuck knows. Our club seem to think there's something wrong with announcing contract lengths.

Yes, but only from a **** minority who didn't understand why it happened. Paul would have stayed but the support from the owner stopped...and got us to where we are today.

Not gonna lie, at the time i was pissed off, i tbought he'd done the dirty on us and it hurt because of the 2 years we'd just had prior.

Turns out it was just another Allen and Carson "masterstroke"......should have known really!

It’s generally accepted by all, including the Hartlepool lads Soup Ladle and Chief Rocka , that this year’s NL is bigger and better in every way than this year’s L2, in which Cook won a title, so I don’t think that will be a problem.

Is it fuck you absolute bunch of Tinpot upstarts

I'd like to congratulate Chesterfield on their impending promotion. I'd expect you back in L1 by 2023 under Cooky. Top gaffer!

Parkinson has taken Colchester to the Championship, Bradford to a League Cup final and a promotion, and Bolton to a promotion. You’d want to watch Cook’s football over his without doubt, but their records are very similar otherwise.

You'd actually say that Parkinsons style is more likely to work in the National league with National League players than Cooks.

Then again if Cook gets Chesterfield playing free flowing attacking football and gets them up in style then we can all be made to eat our words.

Its an impressive appointment. Time will tell whether or not its the right one.

Come on mate, if you aren't saying Chesterfield are gonna absolutely romp the league and win every game from hereon in, you aren't doing it right.

Champions' League football by the end of the decade for them.

I doubt even Paul Cook is a good enough manager to hold off the Boreham Wood juggernaut

Most of the concerns here are valid and to be fair I share some of them. It's Paul Cook coming back though isn't it. It's like a little homeless fella finding a bottle 12 year old scotch. Is it exactly what he needs right now? Maybe not but he's fucking happy he's got it

You've nailed it. I've been trying to describe Chesterfield as a club in a short and sweet yet accurate way.

That's it. Piss soaked tramps. Little piss soaked tramps.

Exactly what people said when we smashed league two. "You can't pass your way out of league two".

You can't possibly live in Stockport if you think that of Chesterfield.

The levels of both seethe and cope he's shown since Tuesday night are quite remarkable. Didn't think we would get to him quite so much. I just hope all is ok at home.

Bromley, like Sutton, simply can't afford to go up.
