We old gits remember County wearing black shorts with tangerine stripes in the early 70s. They looked like swimming trunks. I think it was dropped after two games because the players didn't like being laughed at, but it might have been only one.

GLC sponsored a shirt years ago, it's on this page and highly sought-after. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Newport_County-2/Newport-County-2.html

Apparently the new one has sold out. It seems to be multiple levels of irony. The chavs wear knockoff Burberry and we wear a knockoff of the knockoffs.

Not seen it here, but this is our new third kit.. Got it's first showing at Orient a few weeks back. I quite like it, myself.

I notice that us and a few others have University's as shirt sponsors, how do they fund that?
If it's from the student fees or the Government grants, wouldn't that be better spent on the education?
Or is it such a minimal amount that it's included in their advertising/media budget?

Must be funding coming in from somewhere. I can't imagine the University of Bolton could afford to sponsor the Allianzarena of the North West.

From their marketing budget and as part of mutual partnerships - using the university facilities, research etc.

There was a bit of outrage when we charged a local hospice to sponsor our shirts, but they got a huge discount and they saw it as part of their advertising strategy.
