Well looks like Orient are fucking it up and Northampton have been pretty inconsistent lately, funny how the top 3 thought they all had promotion sealed at one point when there was a bit of a gap from 4th as if no one could touch them and the rest of the league was crap.
See, this is what happens when you get complacent and arrogant, it makes you sloppy.

Well we're here now and we've invested in our squad this month with the aim of going all out for promotion and we're in hot form with positivity and determination etc, so one of you lot who has fallen asleep is going to fail..
you can tell yourself that, but I don't think any Northampton fan (and judging by Orient fan comments) thought that. I know for a fact Jon Brady hasn't thought that.
I would add that you personally now sound arrogant in that post, so don't become hoisted by your own petard...

Injuries seem the main reason for the down turn in results for us and orient. We've had a hard time recently, compounded by Kieron Bowie out for at least two months now, but if we can keep them to a minimum and get a consistant run going especially in this next month I'll be feeling confident come March.

Keeping Guthrie, Maglorie, Sowerby, McWilliams and Appere fit, with a return to form for Pinnock are all key to achieving this. Hoskins with his goalscoring is just a bonus.

I think us Northampton fans knew we had a tough run over winter and were just hoping to still be third by Feb. Not surprised at all we’ve been reeled in a bit, just have to make our games against the lower mid table/relegation threatened sides count

You're only ahead of us thanks to the ref, our equaliser should have stood.

As for injuries we've had them all season and yet we're still up there. So they're not an excuse, it's just the fact that you're not actually that good as you thought.

Referee decisions level out (mostly) over the course of the season also, so thats not an excuse. We think we are decent for this league, which is correct considering we finished 4th last season and are currently 3rd. Are we the best in the league? No. Are we amongst the best teams in the league? Yes.

And are you the most 'shithousery' team in the league? Yes.
Ask the fans of most other clubs in the league here and they'll agree.

It's no wonder you often come straight back down.

You place us above a Steve Evans side for that? Wow, thats some going. We go back down because we have not been good enough, fairly simple really.

I can`t comment about Northampton as I haven`t seen them yet this season (I was working when we played down there and our home game is the last match of the season) but Stevenage and especially AFC Wimbledon are the worst I have seen so far this season but there have been several more candidates (Sutton and Crewe to name but 2).

I’ll give you Wimbledon but thought Stevenage were so dominant against us that they didn’t need to resort to the dark arts that much.

The end of the game against you guys (last 5 mins and stoppage time) would have been an incredibly frustrating watch from an opposition perspective. Danny Rose won numerous soft free kicks that broke the play up and the forwards did a great job of holding the ball up and winning throw-ins etc.

I thought we played pretty well in that game, after taking the lead late on I felt we managed the game well, not sure I'd categorise it as dark arts but could definitely see why it'd be frustrating to watch.

When I lived there I constantly had people referencing that I was from the south - same vibes

Taken seriously by who?

We are the best team in this league as our position and form shows it and definitely the biggest of those around us.

Only our opinion matters.

I wouldn’t go overboard there is a long way to go yet.

Big win through because it ramps up the pressure on the others at the top especially Orient and Stevenage who seemed well out of it and now are having to look over shoulders and go from expecting to win to needing to win…….it isn’t always easy to keep winning once you are having to deliver or else so will bring it down to mentality.

That is an area I am hoping Carlisle can work well with, Simpson has won it at this level before and knows how to handle a run in, I’d expect same at Stevenage.

I’m not sure with wellins because while he won L2 he never handled the run in when extra pressure occurs.

Northampton may well think back to last season.

Paul Simpson's first words in the summer were it's all about the last 10 games and he mentioned it again tonight.

Get in a good position and then make it count.

He knows what he's doing.

No denying that it could go wrong but I'm 100% sure we've got the right man in charge.

We still appear to be missing that allusive midfielder - we’ve only been crying out for him since June 2022.

I think it might cost us in the end, but we do have Osadebe back from his leg breaking injury within the next few weeks.

Currently, we’re 8th on 41 points - with 2 games in hand on Salford, Carlisle and leaders Orient. Leaving us 1 game in hand over the remaining others (barring Stevenage). It’s all well and good having these games in hand, but we’ve got to win them. Typically, they’re against Walsall and Gillingham - two tough games.

My heart says we have enough to finish top seven! If we don’t, it’ll be yet another poor season for us.

Massive game at home to Mansfield at the weekend. Win this and I can see us going on a run of decent wins. Lose it and I think the crowd will turn nasty and questions will be asked of Hughes’ credentials - which won’t bode well for the remainder of this season.

That’s because he can’t read.

I so can read and you get off the thread, you support an inferior, lower mid table nothing club and therefore have no right to be here!

Leyton Orient, Stevenage, Carlisle and Mansfield up for me. But I'm guessing.

The only way we get promoted is automatically and there is no chance of that happening
You still remain the only side I've watched this season and thought there's a good side, passing the ball quickly, looked much better than us. It was 4 or 5 games in and I was starting to think we could struggle back here if that's the standard. It's turned out that isn't the consistent standard at all thankfully.

Think the third automatic place will go to the wire. Northampton, Salford, Swindon, Mansfield, Stockport, and Bradford all in with a chance (alongside us, of course). All about the run-in. Ours is a tough one, to say the least...

We won't trouble the top 3 because we don't have enough goals in the team - we saw this when Cook was benched. Think we'll finish 6th or 7th.

Think Carlisle in the end will miss out. Think we have the best forward options in the division, but Carlisle have too many off days to be consistent enough to be there at the end.

Our goalie isn’t a promotion quality goalie and our defence too prone to lapse mistakes.

When we won the L2 title previously our big key centre back in derek mount field and then kev grey just never had poor games and was always a constant.

This back line…….too inconsistent for top 3. Play offs a chance as it requires just a couple of good performances.

We’ve got a favourable run of games now; Dale, Wimbledon, Grimsby, Col U, Harrogate, Crawley and Hartlepool.

If we’re going to trouble the autos we’ll want what, 5 wins out of that lot?

I have a feeling we're about to hit something of a slump, injuries have hit us all at once. 4 of our next 5 are on the road. See where we are after that, hopefully we'll still be in the automatics, wouldn't be surprised if we're not though.

Our next two could trip us up - Mansfield and Colchester at home. Mansfield are 6 points behind us with a game in hand, so we can't afford to lose that one - but even a draw would mean 3 games without a win, so 3 points would be most welcome. Colchester have won their last 5 away from home, so that's far from a banker. Tricky run in for us coming up, so we need points on the board ASAP.

Rochdale (H) and Crawley (H) for us next week. Excited to see how we cock things up from here.
