Two decent home wins lifts us off the bottom. Lewis Young has more wins in eight days than Betsy had the rest of the season.

Long way to go and the injury problems are coming back but it's a lot happier place now.

For his next trick. How to get Telford into the side. When you see him play you can tell he is a real goal threat but Nichols and Nadersan are how we are set up to play and it doesn't suit Telford. He will get pissed off eventually.

Having looked at our next four fixtures:
Doncaster - H
Leyton Orient - H
Stockport - A
Tranmere - A

All tough, certainly tougher than the run of fixtures we’ve had so far.

If we come out of that Tranmere game still in the top 10, then I’ll maybe consider my future in this thread.

:err: Clinging on to the top 10 at the moment after back to back defeats. Tranmere away on Saturday, we’ll see if we are still in the top 10 come full time. Or will we be looking over our shoulders after being found out when faced with half decent opposition as I expected?

Our last five home games against Hartlepool, Grimsby, Rochdale, Harrogate and Crawley have yielded five points. Not good enough for about as favourable a run of home games as we're likely to get.

I was surprised at Akinde for Colchester last night. Every striker misses now and then so no comment about that but he sprinted after 37 year old Tony Craig and then spent 2 or 3 minutes catching his breath. He has always been a big lad but he looked woefully short of puff last night.

As for Crawley. Two wins and a draw since Betsy left. Gone back to a basic 442 and fighting for each other. We aint going to pull up any trees but hopefully we can climb to mid table obscurity. In my view our midfield is full of holes and while I quite like Hess and Powell we need someone to get in there and get in the way.

For 70 minutes Harrogate were on a par with Hartlepool for shiteness should have been 5 up by half time and coasted in the second half like there managers honesty though.

It's pretty tight at the minute but there's some key games on Tuesday night, I'll be happy if we're still off the bottom by then.

Rochdale are playing as well
Not next Tuesday we're not. No midweek game this week, FA Cup at The Gas on Saturday, then Salford at home on Tuesday 8th (assuming we don't draw in Bristol??)

Hmm.

I’m not feeling very confident right now, we’re not utter dogshit but we barely have any shots let alone score an actual goal.

Replays are not until w/c 14th November
That makes sense of why Dale & Salford agreed the 8th then - plus putting an extra week between our home games against them in the Pizza Cup and L2

Teams will be doing well/badly to be any worse than Colchester at the moment.

Barring some absolute disaster of epic proportions, it's nice to be taking a sabbatical from this thread.

Just realised we have drawn away at three of the bottom four (not pool). I cant make up my mind if that's good (points from relegation rivals) or bad (can't even beat the rubbish at the bottom)..

Going to hold my nose and say hmmm.

Nah, lose to us beat the Poolies. You know it makes sense.

You say Colchester were really bad. They had us under the cosh for a large part of our recent game.

Colchester must have got much worse over the last couple of months as they didn’t look anywhere near as bad as people are describing when we held them to a 1-1 draw at their place in August.

Relegation fodder matches for us so far:

Col Ewe: Absolutely battered them 3-1. Their goal an injury time consolation. Doomed.

Pools: Madcap 4-2 in which we should have plundered 7 or 8. Plenty of guts, zero quality.

Rochdale: 1-0. 90 minutes of profligate dominance where we should have been out of sight. Dale repaid the favour by missing an injury time penalty. Should stop up.

Harrogant: n/a

Gillingham: 2-0. Can defend. Can’t attack. Could sleepwalk to the drop.

Creepy: Tight 1-0. Don’t think they had a shot. Will probably go bust before they go down.

Newport: 1-2. They were good for 3 minutes and scored 2 goals. Keeper had a blinder. Will be granted asylum for at least another year. Deportation to the Rwandan league in the very capable hands of Suella Braverman their biggest worry.

Sutton, Crewe, Wombles, Stockport: Yet to play any of these lower mid-table no-marks. Unlikely to be dragged into the scrap.

BELEAGUERED Carlisle: 3-2. Possibly the worst side I have ever seen. Tried to cheat by paying the ref to give us all of the decisions because they know we can’t play against 10 men. Nailed-on to join Colchester through the trapdoor.
