I also think gillingham will stay up.

The good defence gives you a foundation to build on. You can focus on the top end of the pitch in January, find a few players who can get at least some goals.

The good thing is with your solid defence you aren’t needing to somehow find 4 goals a game to to stand a chance of picking up a win. Start scoring 1 or 2 and you’ll be fine.

4 goals a game would be a dream, we’ve scored 6 in 18

Good luck/I would expect you to be challenging for the Championship not in a relegation from the EFL battle. Is it down to bad ownership?
It’s been a while since we troubled the upper echelons of L1, consecutive seasons finishing 10th is the closest we’ve got.

I wouldn’t necessarily say bad ownership outright, certainly not in the way other teams like Bury had, but poor financial decisions have tied us in knots. Off field revenues and matchday income has been incredibly poor for a while though. I won’t bore you, but one example is not even having a club shop (and the online one is never updated).

4 goals a game would be a dream for any team.

My point is, I’d be more concerned if you were leaking goals left right and centre. You’re not. There’s obviously a solid foundation to build on. Your goal scoring is clearly shit, but thanks to your defence it doesn’t need to become lethal for you to stay up. If you can go from a shit attack to even a below average attack, you should pick up enough points.

I agree mate, was just making a not funny joke.

We’re starting a very promising youngster up front tonight against Crawley, hoping he’ll at least be a handful.

Gillingham ain't very good. Trouble is we are worse.

Great turn out for the Gills tonight. The fans deserve a lot better than what they're are getting.

I'm hoping for a rebound if Telford's arse. About the only way we will score.

Not sure how we’re worse…. At least we can pass the ball. Either way both sides are terrible in the final third.

Think we’d sold out the original tie, quite a few won’t have been able to make it tonight though

I like to take the positives where I can.

The ref wasn't too bad.

I watched a bit of this from 55 minutes after the World Cup game. I thought Gillingham shaded what I saw and will probably be disappointed not to have taken all 3 points. It did look like they should have had a penalty when matey boy was thrown to the floor in the box and I spotted another bit of grappling that had it been a world Cup game would have almost certainly have been punished.

There wasn't a huge amount of quality on show, you can see why both sides are struggling.

Was that in the second half? I was behind the other goal.

I was being sarcastic though. That rates as one of the worst games of football I have ever seen. I think Gillingham were marginally the better side but that's like saying Boris Johnson was marginally better than Teresa May.

Yeah second half, was a few other calls he didn't give to us when they were obvious fouls or corners, yet every time you fell over he awarded the free kick

As you said think we shaded the game but just can't score, defensively were not to bad if we had a striker that could score goals I'm sure we would just plodding along in midtable which I would now bite your hand of for now

I can see why you think he was awful, the penalty incident was interesting as your guy had hold of Lynch’s shirt but was still brought to the ground which is why (I’m guessing) the ref didn’t give it as he saw it as 50/50.
In 15 years of watching us I can only think of one game that was as bad as that one.

Lino gave a couple of calls against your 5 (corners vice goalkicks) and I thought your player was going to go for him ( I thought one was right one wrong). He walked away swearing and almost turned back he was really angry.

Don't know about the penalty but I did think the ref was trying to let the game flow. Compared to the showboating ref from the Walsall game I know who I'd prefer.

It’s a good job Carlisle are so shit, or we’d be the bottom two ourselves

3 games off the halfway mark, anyone wanna make a guess at how many points will guarantee survival, must be a low one this year?

The current bottom four with Harrogate just sneaking off are an absolute shambles.

We've got Gillingham (A) on Boxing Day, then Harrogate (A), Rochdale (A), Gillingham (H) and Hartlepool (A) in successive weekends throughout January - would think we need to have built up a bit of a cushion by the end of next month. Good job our away form is so good...

You were good at home to us last week -- Don't think you will go down. But things are really looking grim for Gillingham & Hartlepool now.

There's only one spot available,as Pools will finish bottom.
I've seen some crap in my 40 years of supporting them, but this is the worst bunch by a country mile.

Gillingham's defence is very good. Get someone to score a few and they will rise up the table.

Although getting a goalscorer is true for every team it's very obvious for them.

We've played Hartlepool & Gillingham at home and have one point. The new manager bounce lasted one game. Our owners have said they will be investing in the commercial side rather than the players. We are picking up injuries left, right and centre.

I'm hoping for a couple of teams collapsing because I don't see a way we are playing out of this.

Anyone who finishes below us deserves Liquidating. If we don't drop this year we will next. The whole club is in free fall.

Our only chance of survival is now relying on a massive squad shake up up in the transfer window.

Never heard the rainham end react how they did to the players before, but after the dross we have been served up this season the player deserved it

Caught a fair bit of it on iFollow in the end, and from what I saw it was an awful game with no quality from either side, settled by a scruffy goal bobbling over the line. Gillingham probably offered the least attacking threat of any side I think I've ever seen, but we didn't exactly create anything ourselves.

Nice to grind a result out for a change though from a difficult watch.
