Here are the groups for the Pizza Trophy without the kiddie teams which are drawn on Thursday:

I'm sure you are all desperate to find this info out.....

As with every other season if we exit the group stage I am perfectly happy in fact would totally endorse us doing that. The injury risk is just not worth it.

Drawing out Stockport would have been more interesting I guess if Jim Gannon was still their manager. Don’t think we’ve come up against him since his rather erm ill-fated spell in charge.

The only points in favour of going on in the competition for me is giving the fringe players/promising youngsters more competitive football and decent blood prize money. I can't see any others unless it can be a scouting opportunity for loans I guess but that could easily be achieved in other ways.

I enjoy the games (on ifollow) as its one I am not to fussed about winning so can actually enjoy watching, it works for us as we have a squad where we've made it fairly consistent so we are still fairly strong in it with the changes.

We've only failed to progress from the group stage once (the first one) so from that aspect its a good exercise, although losing Gibbons at Wigan a couple of years back for the season in one wasnt so great.

I just dont get the B teams though, we absolutely walloped Liverpool the past two seasons 4-2 and 5-0, in the 4-2 they had Millar who was the one who kept them in it and they are literally men v boys, like a training game in most cases. We've beaten every B Team we've faced with mostly relative ease.

The only two that we've faced that have noticeably been quite good were Villa last season in our group and Chelsea in the knockout rounds a few years back when they had Caballero in goal, Batshuayi up top, Kenedy etc etc in their team.

Expect we'll play as many of our development squad as possible, and will get an early exit.

Good for the dev squad to get some competitive football though, and if we pick up some cash along the way then great.

Well. A poor decision it may be, but I’ll be going to see our game v Spurs kids next week, as little time as I have for the competition.

I’m going with a mate who supports Spurs, so he’s keen to see what their latest crop of hopefuls looks like, and similarly I’m actually quite interested to get a look at some of our development squad players who don’t get that many minutes in the first XI.

It’s always weird watching a game when the ground is as empty as it no doubt will be, but hey.

We've asked for and been allocated 2.5k at Bradford next week.

Not a chance I'm attending.

I believe we have Stockport next Tuesday. I won’t be going to it and hope we just name the academy lads for it.

I believe the rules state there is a fine of up to £5k if you’re not at what they call full available strength which to be perfectly honest I’d pay it anyway and just take it out of the £20k participation fee we get.

As I understand the rules it says you should name a minimum 4 qualifying outfield players so that’s basically someone who started the previous fixture or the next one. They can also be someone who is in the top 10 of the squad for first team starts or any loan player from a Cat 1 academy. So we could name Thierry Small as an example whether he starts against Portsmouth or not.

Ah I'd pay the fine and play the fans then

I would just get minutes into the ones who wont feature Saturday or are getting up to speed, for example Wilson if he's available, Small, Charlsley, Hussey, whoever misses out between Cass and Forrester at the weekend, Stone, and any deadline day signings to get minutes in.

In all fairness say we go the same midfield Saturday we could still change the full midfield for this one and play Ojo, Holden and Charsley which is decent enough! Small or Hussey and Worrall or Massey at wing back, Smith always plays so with Forrester and DJ.

We make a load of changes and take the 5k fine every game. Think every game bar two since we were relegated we’ve made a load of changes and happily taken the fine rather than risk an injury to an important player on this poxy competition.

Jesus wept, I was just looking at our fixture list for the first time in a while, and saw we have:

15 Oct - Posh (H) in the league - I'm confidently expecting this to be a good gate, they're flying high in the league and are bitter as fuck towards us for getting promoted the year the league was finished early, so there's a bit of spice.

But.

What I didn't realise until now is that,

18 Oct, we have - oh yeah, Posh (H) in the pizza cup.

If there's a better way to ensure an already unappealing competition gets an even lower attendance than normal, I'm struggling to see it.

Play it at your training ground in the middle of the day so you don't lose money on ground costs and floodlights...

We've got the same situation with Shrewsbury.

We played some of the youth team and players not getting much game time in the early rounds last season.
But gradually the team got stronger the longer we were involved.
It didn't seem to do us too much harm and it was another good day out at Wembley to enjoy.

It was also good to watch Man City's young superstars getting a 5 0 lesson from a team which included 4 of our own kids in the starting 11.

Just seen we are playing tomorrow in this against Northampton. I won’t be going as it’s a tinpot comp with under 23 sides in. Albeit I’m also totally aware that I’ll become a complete hypocrite and go to Wembley should we miraculously ever make the final. Not that we will of course with us taking the fine every game by making a load of changes - as we should. Absolutely no point risking injury to any of our first teasers.

Fancy Northampton to go up in league 2 (put them in my pre season multiple bet) so will say score draw 1-1.

It shows the level of interest in this tonight we've only opened up one stand for home supporters. Did toy with the idea of buying a ticket (though no intention of going) just to build up the loyalty points but decided to punt on that one.

Just don't get any injuries. Give the likes of Tommy McDermott a runout in this and given James Wilson has now resumed full training maybe he gets a few minutes off the bench.

Yeah its a change as we usually open up the Paddock part as well.

Less interest than our last meeting in this competition with Stockport which was our first visit to the old Wembley in 1993 and the first of two triumphs in this competition before it became a total farce.

Seems Wilson is back on grass early so maybe give him the last 30 minutes to boost him ahead of the weekends games.

I usually watch it on ifollow but don't think I will tonight, originally it was a fiver the first season (when it was the only games being streamed).

Keogh and Ball starting tonight against Northampton; that's the only reason I'm paying to view it. I expect a further 4 or 5 changes to start, hoping they include Burgess, Leigh, Edwards & Humphreys.

Obviously hope to see us win but getting additional minutes into these guys seems more important.

Barrow at home tonight and there will be plenty of our academy lads on show. Great opportunity for them to impress management, or not.....
