Don;t believe that. You'd be wetting your knickers if you'd got to Wembley

No way. I mean it would be cool as I've never been to the new Wembley with Ipswich. However, I'd much rather get promoted, that's way ahead of getting to Wembley for a pointless cup with extra games to potentially lead to more injuries. League has to be priority, especially as we've made a good start to the season.

I was disappointed when we blew a two goal lead at your place (away, its always away) to get to Wembley, but I was over it in about 5 minutes. Though that was 2020 and strange times, my overriding disappointment was not turning up at Wembley for the play off final

I would love to get to Wembley again after last seasons finale, ideally the play off final again of course but whilst we are currently well in the hunt I don't anticipate us to sustain the challenge for the top 6 so this trophy gives us the best chance.

We had two great days out at the old Wembley and Millennium Stadium winning this so its a shame its been tainted with the U23's joining in.

It is one of those that'll be a great day out if you make the final but aren't too arsed when you get knocked out.

Of course promotion is the goal but to get to wembley as well would be the icing on the cake

I vowed never to lower myself to go to Wembley in that competition and I stand by it.
Me too. I’d be devastated if Ipswich finally got to the new Wembley and it was a poxy Pizza cup game. I too have said I’d never go to a fixture in that comp and I stand by it.

It's a shame how this cup has been totally devalued by sticking u21's in it. A decent cup competition for lower league clubs isn't a bad idea in theory, but as it is now I couldn't give a fuck about it.

Should go back to knock out with 16 top National League sides or even keep the groups but swap B teams for those sides.

Yeah the groups aren’t the problem. It’s B teams which don’t work for anyone, just swapping them for national league sides would sort it.

I think the main issue for a lot of fans may be the suspicion that this competition is being used by the larger teams as an attempt for them to have B-Teams in the Football League, like they do in some other countries where maybe the pyramid is built of paper rather than carved from stone, and this would undermine the whole structure of our system. For that reason I want nothing to do with it.

I see that in the Lowland League in Scotland this season, Hearts B have joined the Old Firm B teams. 3 out of 19 clubs in the league.

(As has happened in the past - including a time when the Scottish Third division was largely filled with B teams, the bad practices of English football - e.g. there is clearly more than one, in historic terms, "Franchise FC" in the SPFL - are magnified north of the border).

Happy to continue boycotting the Pizza Cup until such time as the U-21s are booted out.

Looks like it was between the end of WWII and 1955 when the third division (then known as Division C) was first formed.

That's according to Wikipedia mind.

Yeah, for about a decade immediately after WW2. A few first teams (including at various times Stirling, Berwick, Stranraer, Montrose, Brechin, Forfar, East Stirlingshire) were among them, but they were usually the minority. To be fair, the B teams weren't allowed promotion (although relegation from the league above was in place), and it was a bit of an odd set-up in numerous ways....

Our game at Salford is off with the game now next Tuesday… at least it isn’t an hour and half before kick off like last season with 1500 of us already there!

We're home to Everton U21's tonight and usually mixed the side up for the pizza games.

It's still cold but temperatures don't feel as cold as at the weekend so I can't see there being any frozen pitch issues.

I'd have preferred 2 of them to get to the final and play in front of a piss poor attendance to show this trophy up for what it is.
As it is, whoever gets there now should take decent numbers and they will call it a 'success' again

We did the same to Chelsea's, albeit it was 1-0 until the 87th minute.

We've now equalled our best ever run in this competition (and all it's previous iterations).
So, anyone who nodded off between the 5th and 86th minutes of your 4-0 win still wouldn't have missed a goal. Weird.

MK Dons were a shambles they look a good bet for relegation. Injuries to Collins and Rossiter may be costly though

A new coach will sort them out though, i'm sure.

Not surprisingly, some low attendances last night:
Bolton Wanderers 4-0 Man United U21's | 4,735 [1,615]
Bristol Rovers 4-1 MK Dons | 864 [60]
Burton Albion 2-4 Accrington Stanley | 390 [19]
Cheltenham Town 4-0 Chelsea U21's | 1,058 [134]
Lincoln City 4-2 Everton U21's | 1,306 [80]
Portsmouth 3-0 Stevenage | 2,162 [76]

19 hardy Accy souls at Burton.

Draw for quarter final round:

Bolton v Pompey
Bristol Rovers v Plymouth/AFC Wimbledon
Lincoln v Accrington Stanley
Cheltenham v Salford/Port Vale

Salford v Accrington final eh?

Be no one there !

The powers that be will be hoping 2 of the top 4 teams reach the final I suspect.

We seem to get home ties in the Pizza Cup yet any other cup competition ends up being away!

Home games are always preferable, I suspect both sides will fancy their chances of progressing.

Two winnable ties although preferable at home. Our chances will depend a lot on how strong we go but would like to see us give it a real go from the position we are in.
