Chris Wilder's gig.

May as well close the market as soon as they open it.

Sad day, but it's the one job we wouldn't begrudge him going after

He's obviously got a phone call off us before he signed a deal with you

According to journos down here, the deal was as good as done but we wouldn't give him assurances over full control in writing and he quite rightly told us to do one.

I think as soon as you got a whiff of that you were straight on the blower.

I don't know what to make of him tbh. I was delighted when we got Adkins as we're many others but look how that's turned out. So let's hopefully give him some money and maybe we may see a turnaround

I'm obviously biased because of the unbelievable job he did for us, but he's a top manager. Has a clear philosophy, creates good relationships with players and fans, and bringing Alan Knill will help too. Old Knilly is a bloody good no.2 and they're a good double act. He'll get you up.

Not sure what it is with Adkins, he always seems to inspire confidence without ever really achieving much.

I think Wilder is a good fit for you, he's passionate, clearly cares about Sheffield United and fans will be right behind him from the beginning which always helps.

We should be happy.

But as Blademan says we were really happy when Adkins was appointed as he had such a fantastic track record.

Our fans joke that we could appoint Jose Mourinho as manager and sign Messi and Ronaldo up front and we'd still struggle ha.

Our fans tend to distrust managers. Adkins smooth constant cliche very positive interview style didn't go down well with the fans. As Wilder is from Sheffield, a big fan and a former player then he'll immediately get great support from the fans and we'll be more patient with him.

Morale was so low at the club that I can understand why a change has been made. I'm now really looking forward to the new season.

I do feel for Adkins, had a good track record with Southampton etc and was left with a painfully large squad full of players who were either just not very good, weak, small and slow across pitch and we lost battles all over pitch against other teams in league one as they all had more athletic players.

I would have not minded if club kept Adkins on and got rid of rest of deadwood and brought in the players he wanted but on Sunday the atmosphere at Bramall Lane was dreadful and I guess the board were left with no option in end.

Chris Wilder is a Sheffield United fan and done great things with Northampton and also had to put up with sale of club going on and players not getting paid, I hope he has been watching Blades games and knows who he needs to get shut of and is given a good budget to get us going again.

Most of all we need the whole club pulling in one direction again from top to bottom and Blades fans need to help get behind the team and manager in a big way, when Bramall Lane is rocking it don't half put away teams off at times and gives our lads so much more energy.

Up The Blades.

He'll get Sheffield United promoted, no question about it.

Suspect he'll take you to the Prem eventually.

Think we could cope with losing Smith, especially if we get £1m for him.

Is this so Adkins can go somewhere else in League 1 and get them promoted instead of United

Yeah Blades come and nab a Vale manager because that's worked so well in the past........

I'm not going to hijack this thread with Vale related stuff, but I would be careful what you wish for Darren as I'm not sure we have a budget at present that would see us find anything better than what we already have.

Getting back on topic, I think Wilder will be a decent acquisition for Sheff Utd but he will need some backing from the powers that be to turn you lot into serious promotion contenders that no doubt a club of Utd's size should at this level
