The word 'fairytale' has been used a lot this week, and it surely felt like one after the euphoria of Wembley on Monday. Over the last 14 years there were many times when it didn't, though, and as I walked away from Wembley my thoughts went back to walking to Leyton (not Orient, but the Waltham team who folded in '11) for an Isthmian game in '07 in the pissing rain, only to find it abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch. It didn't feel much like a fucking fairytale then. Well, maybe Cinderella would come close; enslaved for years while the evil Stepmother robs everything, before being set free to marry her prince (but she was only 15 when she got married, was she from Bury?) I find it very easy to ignore the scum, but now that we're in the same division (I know some fans are dreading them coming to Kingsmeadow, but I'm looking forward to letting all the hate out), I've been thinking about them more.

I know some MK Dons fans are on this forum, so;
-Why are you still called MK 'Dons'? Does that word now feel like a weight around your neck, dragging you down? I struggle to imagine any original WFC fans getting the 9.15 train on a Saturday morning from Wimbledon Station to Milton Keynes to watch you nowadays, so why still use it? I imagine it must divide your fanbase more as time goes by.
-Do you still think you are a continuation of Wimbledon Football Club? Do you embrace Wimbledon Football Club's history or is it something you feel dissociated from?

I've always felt the relocation was like transplanting an adults head onto a child's body - hideous & doomed to horrible failure. What do fans of other club's think? Don't give a shit? Mildly entertaining circus sideshow? Sitting there with the popcorn ready? Maybe the last 14 years have been like a fairytale after all - Sleeping Beauty awakening in League 1 ready to rip the living shit of the c*** that put her there. After all, fairytales can be pretty fucking gruesome.

Another thread :ffs: :dk: But I'll answer your questions, I'm sure the answers will be different though from people like Camdenite.

I find it very easy to ignore the scum. - Clearly

-Why are you still called MK 'Dons'? Like it or not it is a part of our history. We have got promoted and relegated as MK Dons, won trophies as MK Dons. Had our name plastered all over the world as MK Dons after doing things like beating Man Utd 4-0. It is also a nod to those who did follow the club from Wimbledon, as there are some. Some who now follow MK Dons. It's who we are.
-Do you still think you are a continuation of Wimbledon Football Club? No, I don't think MK Dons or AFC Wimbledon are the real "Wimbledon." Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes while you were already a club. It became MK Dons. I don't see how you can claim the history as it isn't yours. I don't see how you can claim it when Wimbledon were still playing when AFC came to play. I think the right thing happened by giving the honours to Merton council as Wimbledon are dead.

After all, fairytales can be pretty fucking gruesome.- clearly some hate us, some don't give a shit. They obviously don't care that much as we've been the most visited ground last season in the championship and before in league one.

AFC Wimbledon fans can't claim Wilmbledon FC's history? What a moronic statement and this is why your fanbase are despised.

AFC Wimbledon formed in 2002. When did MK Dons form and cease being Wimbledon? That's why they can't.

I was only 10 when Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes, and never really went to watch live football regularly. When they did move though me and my dad decided to go to the first Wimbledon game against Burnley in 2003, and enjoyed the day so decided to go to all the other home games that season. We got a season ticket for the next season and have been going ever since.

Personally I want us to keep the Dons, and don't think it will be changed in my lifetime. But it represents how the club was formed, which is a unique thing about our club.

I can now understand why the AFC fans decided to create their own club, although I do question the idea to jump ship 14 months before Wimbledon actually moved to Milton Keynes. It's almost like they gave the owners no choice but to actually move. Although neither AFC Wimbledon or MK Dons can claim they won the FA Cup, because that was won by the old Wimbledon which I believe played their last game at the end of the 2003/04 season.

Either way I'll still keep supporting my hometown and embrace being the most hated club in the world, it gives us an 'us against the world' mentality which is good! Will also be at AFC away, which I want to win just to stick it to all their supporters who wish death upon our fanbase!

It may be that neither club can officially lay claim to the history or honours but certainly the heart and soul of everything Wimbledon FC lives on at AFC and nowhere else.

I doubt any decent football supporter will ever think any different.

Why can't you have this shitty overdone debate on your own club forums.

Because WUP doesn't allow franchise fans to register.

I'm bored to death of it as well. I was overjoyed at getting promotion in the plays-offs, then I realised that the whole fucking media wankfest is gonna start again.

Just rename to Milton Keynes FC, sounds much more respectable. And for what its worth I think MK Dons fans get stick they don't deserve.. It wasn't the fans of Wimbledon FC nor fans from Milton Keynes that relocated the club, it was Winkleman. As it happens over the last decade or so MK Dons have achieved higher crowds than Wimbledon did and have a decent sized fan base in their own right, which the majority comes from Milton Keynes.

Obviously disagree with the formation of MK Dons but Milton Keynes is a decent sized place and they don't look out of place in the upper tiers of the football pyramid.

It may have been Winkleman's doing but the MK fans are happy to support it.

Your final paragraph beggars belief too.

Okay, the only comments I'm going to make on here. It's bad enough trying to moderate our facebook group, eh Tommy?

I can now understand why the AFC fans decided to create their own club, although I do question the idea to jump ship 14 months before Wimbledon actually moved to Milton Keynes. It's almost like they gave the owners no choice but to actually move.

We "jumped ship" there and then because we were given no right of appeal. What was the point in supporting a team that was going to be moved anyway? We had the momentum so it was a good time to start afresh.

.......all their supporters who wish death upon our fanbase!

Which is fucking obscene and obviously not a view I subscribe to.

Hey Wombles, welcome back again. I know your club is only 14 years old but is there any real reason why your forum works and looks like it's from 1994?

I mean honestly, get a new one.

Claiming that Wimbledon fans abandoned the club in 2002 is stupid. Do you really think there was anyway they were going to change the minds of the owners? Years of protests hadn't worked. Why would they keep giving money to fund a club which would very shortly no longer represent them, paying for PR spokesmen and lawyers who would slag off the fans?

:bg: It's based on the old Weird and Wonderful guestbook run (I think) by Mark Jones, one of the founders of our club. People have tried and failed to get a proper threaded forum up and running but there just isn't the traffic. WUP might not be to everyone's taste, but it's thriving.

There is another forum, but as it's invite only, most of us won't get to see it. No sour grapes there Wombletom.

This has probably already been mentioned, but who did MK Dons fans (of a certain age) support before 2002?
