Daily Mail suggesting one has lost their leg. Pretty devastating.

Investigation should tell the true story. Being a modern coaster it will have sensors around the track which should stop the carriage if there is a chance of a collision. It makes you wonder if it is a human error which has caused this.

The ride itself has been a nightmare for Towers since it opened. This must be the 3rd incident they've had with it, granted nobody has been seriously injured on it.

I suspect health and safety have made the decision to force the closure of the park today. Highly doubt Smiler will be open for a good few months

I was there queing for the Runaway Mine train when it came off the tracks and ended up in the Rapids. I'd of been on the next or the one after. Scary shit.

that ride put me off rollercoasters for nearly 20 years until I dared to try a couple at Blackpool last year.

I was about 15 I think, school trip there, went on ride and the leg bar didn't lock, they never checked properly and it set off........wasn't too bad as I just pushed bar down with all my force and it didn't go upside down, but it sort've just made me think....no f*cking chance on any others.

but sadly its an accident, much like any other, sadly with these things most accidents cause a lot of damage, hopefully and seems like it, none were fatal.

I haven't been to Alton Towers for years. Would give an arm and a leg to go back though.

All joking aside. Being active on here will definetely help the cause mainly because it will mean you are online a large percentage of the time. But I have been thinking about asking mods to clamp down on a couple of things extra, specifically in the shoutbox.

So that's something we can look at down the line.
