preston north end are one of like maybe 2 or 3 teams to have gone a season unbeaten are we one of the elite? liverpool are below sunderland, everton, man u, man city, chelsea, newcastle, arsenal for home attendance are sunderland as big a club? history only accounts for so much, hell blackburn have won a title more recently than liverpool

edit: preston still fourth of all time. bigger than man city yall

They are not below sunderland, chelsea or everton for attendance and next season they will be above newcastle and level with city. Stop talking garbage

how many generations need to live and die without seeing a liverpool title before we can stop referring to them as a big club

A hell of a lot. They will always be a big club. Despite not winning a league they have won a european cup in that time, a uefa cup , a couple of fa cups and a few league cups. Its not like theyve ended up dropping divisions or something is it they havent just become forgotten. Anyway apologies for the moron comment it was uncalled for.

Well they (along with united) pull in the most viewers across many platforms. Add that to the fan base and success they have i would say absolutely they are a big club.

i'd like to take a moment to praise ian and state my admiration for his courage in starting a thread like this, considering the aggressive nature of liverpool fans and sympathisers alike, as displayed by blademan above. a lot of people would shy away from beginning a discussion on such a controversial, but entirely necessary subject, but not ian. always calm and in control of his emotions in the face of personal abuse and threats. most importantly ofc, he is 100% correct, liverpool used to be a big club, just like leeds but with less charm and more deluded fans. i saulte you.

Hi, award winning poster Smat coming in here to echo this excellent post.

No one knows more than me how hostile the Liverpool fans on this board can be, except possibly Cassandra himself, Destruction. My own innocent questioning of Brendan Rodgers' defensive organisation led to my being banished from TFF by a Milton Keynes-based admin who shall remain nameless. I think Ian is asking brave questions at a difficult time, and reminds me very much of a war reporter, broadcasting the truth from under the rubble created by an oppressive and murderous regime. Are Liverpool a big club? I don't know. Does Ian have big bollocks? Certainly.

Just my two cents.

I think, if you look very deeply into my profile and dig through pages for a few hours, you will find that I live in "Sunny California."

I'd say yes, but probably more so in the eyes of fans worldwide than in the UK. Everyone in the UK that bar 13/14 we haven't been good in the league, however, if Liverpool aren't a big club then there wouldn't be talk of how they've underperformed in the league when finishing 6th etc I suppose.

From an outsider's point of view, when we finished 2nd, I'm sure fans in other countries kind of had the "that's the way it should be" mentality, much like if English fans were to see Milan/Inter finish 2nd. On the flip side though, if it was to happen again, then you'd say that they've probably overachieved, even if the history of the club would overcloud people's judgement as if clubs of that calibre have some kind of right to be there.

I still see teams such as Lyon, Milan, Inter, Valencia as big clubs. They're not as big as they used to be, but they're still within the more decorated names within their countries.

In a nutshell my answer is yes, but they're not as big as what they were and the history of the club is the biggest reason as to why they're still considered big.

I think we should measure clubs on how big they are, by actually how big they are. Square foot taken up by their stadia should sort this once and for all. That's all the time I have for this one, I'll let someone else add the meat to the pie.

where do you get this fact from pls

The latest football rich list that came out had liverpool as the 8th most richest club in the world but 2nd on the list behind only manchester united with the most fans globally. Also man utd v liverpool is the highest viewed football match in the world i believe. Im not too sure why some of you dont think liverpool are a big club no more, ask any sane man utd fan and they will all tell you that they are. You could all answer this question really by saying whats the biggest club game in this country, is it man utd v liverpool and the answer would be yes by an absolute distance wouldnt it.

Ok pitch standards they've dropped to Spurs' level, competitive in all games and a threat however only occasionally challenge for a champions league spot, everything other than recent on pitch history then yes big club.
