And the City fans are on the pitch.
Local news now picked up by the Mail are reporting that Aguero is alleged to have hit a steward at some point, presumably in the melee after the goal? And police have taken a statement on the matter. Doubt it'll amount to much, unless the Dean has seen it and includes it in his report.
Certainly an eventful afternoon.
Awful showing from Mike Dean today. How the whistle wasn't blown before the goal is absurd. And as AFCB Mark pointed out, how Dean decided it was a foul by Mousset at the death beggars belief. And as for the sending off? Ridiculous. What is the ref trying to achieve with decisions like that? I watched this in the pub with the father in law who's more of a rugby man than a footie man and he was even spitting feathers at some of the awful decisions. Unlucky Bournemouth.
There was a break in play pretty much bang on 90 minutes, and the game wasn't actually going on when the five minutes was shown. The ref spent about a minute talking to the two managers, and then Afobe received treatment and was subbed off while Sterling and Adam Smith were both booked, which added on a few more seconds, too.
Overall, Dean was awful as always. Ake should probably have gone earlier on and the foul on Jesus was shocking, and was completely waved away.
I know it's the rules but surely some common sense could be used in these last minute goal celebrations?
Even last week some of our fans got into the pitch so maybe there is an issue there with the away end beung so close?
But City had got there goal, the crowd were up for lynching Dean, so the game ended almost immediately. At least be consistent in your pedantry in adding on stoppages!
I wouldn't change our small ground being close to the pitch for the world. If people want to get themselves a banning order by getting on our pitch...then that's up to them.
Regarding the bookings for players, yeah they should be allowed to show some emotion and celebrate of course
Ake was booked for it wasn't he? If its the same one I'm thinking of? He was arguably last man, all be it a long way out. Some days that might be red, but I think yellow would be the decision the majority of the time.
It did leave Ake with a huge amount of the game to go, almost always defending, to avoid another foul. Which I thought he did very well.
Guardiola spent a lot of the last 5-10 mins of normal time arguing with Howe, the forth official, anyone he could. Clearly frustrated. The referee having to sort him out only adding to the stoppage time that eventually saw City score. So he might feel that worked well.
Interesting how all the stoppages after the goal, the pitch invasion and celebrations, the kerfuffle after the red card, a good few minutes there, were ignored. But City had got there goal, the crowd were up for lynching Dean, so the game ended almost immediately. At least be consistent in your pedantry in adding on stoppages!
I think they're right to forget about the extra seconds of stoppage time if there's any concern about safety.
Agreed with all that. I don't like the idea Sterling was sent off based on what I saw, which was just a player going mad after scoring a dramatic goal. But being close to the pitch is class.
What a goal by Daniels. He has a foot like a traction engine
