And those finished stand capacities sound pure fantasy, as above roads, houses etc. would all have to go. I also can't imagine where another 4,000+ seats would fit to complete the main stand

It's not 4,000+ though, is it. Stop over exaggerating.

The main stand runs 3/4 the length of the pitch. If it was built so that it wrapped into a corner, 13,500 wouldn't be far off.

The only thing I think Bratfud need to do is rebuild the Bratfud end at some point into a more conventional stand.

Agreed.

The plan was to finish the main stand, re-build the aging dressing room area - pop another tier on the Midland Road stand and rebuild the Bradford End into a designated away end with a capacity of 2,500. This would have increased capacity to circa 35,000. However, for all this to happen, we would need help from the council due to the roads running so close to the stands behind.

Game Off according to Burton Albion Twitter account.

Sounds like it's the surrounding areas rather than the pitch. A few road closures near to the ground due to flooding is my bet.

There isn't any standing water on the pitch.

You said 9,000 odd current and 13,000 odd potential, that's 4000 and you've included a new corner stand into your new main stand whereas the NW corner I wouldn't include as part of the current main stand as it is now. Anyway, with the road and houses behind the stand the overall cost and red tape of any development would be ridiculous.

Rivers have burst and road closures are in place across the city, sounds as if the pitch was playable

How can stands be mirrored into a bowl-like stadia if you weren't taking stand completion into consideration?

Yet more nonsensical bollocks from Leeds Bantam.

Fair enough but I wonder if that's 'cos they're a bit 'different' rather than a good design.
And fans will generally buy the latest shirt whatever.

That's exactly the reason although I'm not sure why anyone would want to wear it.

What is is with the Burton fans on their forum? There's a few on there who seem adamant that the games going to be rained off. They ought to gaze through their crystal balls once more and fathom next weeks lotto numbers instead.

It won't be called off.
According to the Bradford official site the pitch is/was unplayable

We don't have crystal balls in Staffordshire but we know how to look after our pitch :)

Come on Firthy lad, just admit you've been thoroughly embarrassed on this one. "It won't be called off". You've had a right mare, surely you could see the weather report was calling for heavy and constant rain across the north over the last 24/36 hours. I mean, ok, you can think the game would still go ahead, but you didn't even have a shred of doubt at 3pm yesterday. Bit baffling that.

I bet you do, not a very good advert for a massive club that you currently support :)

We are extremely fortunate to have a grounds man that's one of the best in the business.
I did tell you all on Thursday it would be off.

Also fortunate that you've woken up to a mild 'spring like morning without a drop of rain' whereas parts of Bradford and surrounding areas are literally cut off by flooding

Yes, it's a lovely day in the Midlands. No doubt I'll be travelling up on a Tuesday night now and have a couple with my Bradford supporting mate in THe Shoulder of Mutton in Kirkgate

Happy New Year X

Beer in there is awful, just like all other Sam Smiths pubs.

But the pitch were perfectly fine. Unfortunately, I didn't foresee road closures due to severe flooding.

Embarrassed, fuck off mate!

I know that there's sulphur in the water in Burton but does it effect the brain so much. The police needed all their officers to cope with emergencies in the region. Many of the villages around Bradford(mine included were cut off). This aft I have been watching firemen rescuing people from their homes only 3 miles from the ground. A lot of people throughout the north have more on their minds than to worry about a cancelled football match. Next week when you go back to school, ask a teacher to explain in 1 syllable words how floods effect emergency services and peoples lives.

You know what. It's a game of football. If it was not safe we will replay it. I would be pissed if I had travelled but I didn't as the weather looked iffy in that area.

It's affect, not effect.
The pitch wasn't playable.
Nothing to do with the emergency services.
Maybe I should be your school teacher :)
