Both of us got dicked in the Cup last night, Brentford with a fully changed 11, us with a barely changed 11...

Dwight Gayle hat-trick, that is all.

Joe Bryan could be fit to play some part apparently, good to hear he won't be out for too long, will be a key player this season.

More chance of Chris Gayle than Dwight.

Not this match related, but Brentford's match against Brum postponed due to relaying of pitch, can't be ideal for it to happen given the season has already started.

After the week we've had, not very confident at all. Also, we've lost a lot of players to injury, so won't be able to put out anywhere near our strongest XI.

Assuming we don't start Gray as he might move to Hull:

Button

Yennaris Dean Barbet Bidwell

Toumani Kershbaumer

Jota Judge Gogia

Hofmann

I reckon a 1-1 draw, us coming from behind.

If we had anywhere near our strongest XI, I'd be very confident of a win. Just been a terrible August so far.

I'm not confident but looking forward to it none the less. Just be glad when the damn transfer window closes and we can just concentrate on football.

Bjelland definitely out of this game, looks likely he'll be out for 8 months or so, basically most of the season.

Typical of our luck right now that our record signing gets injured. Desperately need a couple of top quality signings to come through in the next couple of weeks, hopefully without departures.

Andre Gray to score the winner, whoever he plays for by Saturday.

Absolutely disgusting refereeing performance by Stroud. Shitbag.

We were well on top before that sending off and would have probably gone on to win. Hopefully the card can be overturned before Tuesday because our small squad can't cope without freeman. Totally not what we needed today but some things are just out of our hands.

On a more positive note, we looked good and Kodjia very promising indeed. We,ll be absolutely fine this season with a couple more additions.

Well done Brentford, no hard feelings towards your side but I hope Stroud gets crab lice or something equally irritating.

Bit of a strange match. When we equalised to make it 1-1 I thought we were going to take the game to City, but we were torn apart again and City created loads of opportunities. Wasn't particularly enthusiastic about our chances at 2-1 down.

Can't really say I saw the red card clearly but it looked dangerous play, although not malicious or purposeful. That sending off was our get out of jail free card and the game changed. Some teams make it very difficult to play against when down to ten men, but City seemed a bit a bit listless and we opened them up with ease.

Not sure whether it's fair to judge either teams' chances of success this season based on what was on offer today as the red card completely changed the game.

Having seen the replay, it was a red easy.

With 11 we would have won that.

Referee ruined it. Didn't think it was a red, completely accidental, he didn't even know the lad was there. Yet to see a replay though so my mind could change on that.

Up to the sending off we were creating golden opportunities every few minutes. Brentford always looked dangerous as well but we were cutting through them far more often than they were to us.

Cracking game though, and for me the biggest positive was that Kodjia was outstanding. Should've probably tucked away at least one more but for his home debut that couldn't have gone much better for him, on a personal level.

The red card is obviously the major talking point and in all honesty, I would have wanted a red if it was the other way around. It absolutely killed a cracking game though.
Pre sending off I thought we looked pretty good and probably should have been further ahead but tosser Stroud killed us.
No issues at all with Brentford winning, they took advantage of the extra man extremely well and Andre Grey looks a very good player.
I hope Keith bastard Stroud is eaten by man eating flies and suffers for a very long time, wanker!! I wanted to watch football not you frigging dozy useless cnut!!
EDIT: Maybe Wilbs did catch their bloke with his elbow then!

Very happy to get the 3 points, especially as we were without some key players. Sounds like the red definitely changed the course of the game, before then while we had more possession at around 65% (again) we were getting picked off all too easy on the counter (again). Bjelland would have been a big step to addressing that, so I hope we bring in someone on loan now he's out. Sounds like Macca had a bad game, was getting targeted too much, but Collin should be an improvement.

Both teams should do alright this season, though as ToshJ says a bit difficult to judge today.
