Not much to add. Looked good until the sending off. Think cotts got it wrong after though. Two in the midfield with ilbraham playing deeper? Our midfield of two players was unsurprisingly over run.

Didn't think it was a red at the time, looked late but unintentional and not too bad from where I was standing. After watching it again it was as clear a red as you'll see. Still don't think there was intent or malice in it but it was dangerous.

Wasn't that impressed with hamer either. I'll give him a chance to settle a bit more before I write him off though.

The Bristol lot on here need to take off their rose tinted glasses.

That was fucking horrendous from Freeman. Red card every single time, his foot has no right to be that high up.

Cotterill is an absolute clown aswell, stupid comments.

I'm not just singling you out Synxy, but for everyone who has said that Hamer was poor today, why? What could he really have done about any of the goals?

Thought he could've done better for the first, rather than palming it straight to Judge. Couple of hairy moments on the ball, just looked a bit nervous throughout

You mean the "bristol lot" that all said its a red after they saw the replay? No rose tinted glasses there, everyone who said not a red had qualified that with saying that was what they first thought but hadn't seen a replay since

Looking back on yesterday now I think we were very unlucky. Sending off changed the game, if we took our chances beforehand it may not of mattered.

Need to get a solid Midfield otherwise we will be playing catch up very very quickly.

Hamer had a shocker for the first goal - should have easily caught it!

I'm beginning to think our weakness stems from midfield. Even before LF went off, our back 3 were horribly exposed at times and Korey can't do the defensive side all on his own.
Would a better defensive midfielder (like their 20, great player) solve alot of our frailties? I feel desperatelt sorry for Marlon but don't think he's the answer as our 2nd defensive midfielder in all honesty, mistakes get punished alot more at this level. Maybe I'm being harsh on Marlon?
What do you think fellas?

I honestly think our starting 11 are good enough to get mid table and the problem we have is the lack of championship experience. We do need a bit more depth though, and I think we could use a centre midfielder and lwb.

I've seen some people saying we need to replace Williams, but think he will come good. He had a very shaky start in league 1 in the first season with us, but soon became a very solid defender. Also have to remember he is still only 22 and in only his 3rd season playing for a first team, at a higher level than he has done before.

I've said as much on OTIB that a centre mid has to be the priority. And that's not because I think Pack or Smith aren't good enough, it's because they both sit so bloody deep. None of them are good enough going forward to play more advanced either. It means once the other team have got past Freeman they have as much space to play with as they want.

I don't think we need a defensive player as such, a box to box player in the 2007 Marvin Elliott mould would be perfect in my opinion.

Saying that I definitely wouldn't say no to Diagouraga.

I agree with you....
But I dont think Pack is the problem, its Korey Smith. He isnt strong enough and has been very quiet in the first 3 games. Smith will improve I am sure but he needs to put himself about a bit more.
Pack can only get better with experience, he reminds me of Brian Tinnion if I'm honest.
Williams and Ayling were not great yesterday as they were horribly exposed. Flint did well considering I thought.

Another of our problems is when we go forward we go up in numbers, so when the opponents break the defence again is exposed. Now thats ok at League 1 level where teams arent as clinical but at this level teams will punish you, and they did.

Also we should have gone 4-5-0 and parked the bus like Chelsea at 2-1.

Great result for us. Thought this might be a bit of a banana skin game given it was City's first home game since storming league one so obviously delighted with the result. We've had a shit week off the pitch this past week so a great result to help boost the mood around the club.

Interesting thoughts lads, it's clear we think we have a defensive issue yet it's not necessarily the defence that's the problem.
If we could bring in a more experienced, streetwise 'leader' in midfield, someone with experience at this level, I think we'll be fine but experience can only be gained one way.
As I said earlier, I feel sorry for Marlon as I appear to be blaming him but I would guess he's the one that would make way for such a signing. It's extremely harsh but it looks like it has to be done TBH.
Maybe we need to sacrifice the gung ho attacking stuff, that blew L1 away, for a more circumspect attitude as we can't go on conceding as we are?

To be fair last season it took us a while to get going defensively. We do seem to get caught out often. I'm sure with time it will come. Just adapting to a new league and the faster pace that comes with it. Lots of positives to take from Saturday.

I can't believe people are arguing that red card, it's reckless and a red card at any level. He put his studs through a player's face who was standing up, this isn't WWF Prison rules with some Kane and Undertaker style tackling

I can't be too displeased with the result, Dean and Tarkowski aren't the best partnership in this division and without Bjelland now we're always going to concede goals, however the fact we went away and scored 4 shows our desire to win. Great finish from Hoffman, we need our strikers to score to help take the heat off of Gray and also not let him get complacent....that's if we still have him by September

Might be worth trying to move towards the corner for a few games if there's space. No issue there at all, even with the whole Dolman immediately to our right.

Two other points:

1) thought we got a fair slice of luck with our first goal, as the ball appeared to bounce up onto Judge's arm as he got it under control. Ref wouldn't have seen it, but I looked straight at the linesman instead of celebrating and held my breath!

2) not meaning to be inflammatory, but BCFC need to be stronger and more wise once the red card came out. Last season we went down to ten men early at home to Birmingham, who scored from the resulting penalty, but he kept our shape before equalising and getting a point. City today seemed to really respond badly to the red, and think this comes directly from Cotterill. Instead of getting the players sorted, keeping them calm and in at half time with the lead, he went ballistic at the ref, was screaming and ranting, and this can only have a negative impact on the players. It was an opportunity for Cotterill to sort the situation out and be a leader, but instead he seemed to sulk and throw a wobbly, therefore unsettling Bristol's players.
Yeah i agree, I hoped that Cotts wouldn't just moan about it in the dressing room afterwards, but i wouldn't be too surprised if he did.

Only 6/10 for Bryan Jack? Harsh, mate!

Cheer up laa, we're two games into a 46 game season. We'll be fine.
Hamer was shite.
For the first goal he shouldn't have palmed it to Alan Judge, and for the second he should at least try and save it, not let it go through his legs.
