Lee Johnson's first game - not really sure what to expect. We'll give 'em a go, we were pretty good against Brum a few weeks ago at home and completely nullified their attacking threat - but still didn't really look like scoring after the first 20 minutes or so.

Early goal could be key here - we were excellent when we went one up against Charlton last week and our defence never really looked in any danger of being breached, but at the same time if we concede early the lack of goalscoring threat from open play we pose I don't see us breaking down a side that sit with men behind the ball.

Not really sure what to expect in terms of team selection, he was there last week so I don't think he'll change much although I'd like Bryan to come in for Reid if he's fit. Hoping there will be a new striker in between now and Friday but I'm not really expectant.

O'Donnell
Little - Flint - Baker - Golbourne
Pack - Smith
Freeman - Tomlin - Bryan
Kodjia
Saw that Ipswich sold their allocation a few days back, cracking effort that. Any Town fans on here making the journey?

City 0-2 Ipswich

Berra & Pitman (inevitably).

I agree, I don't think Lee will change the team too much, and I'd also agree to the team you have selected.

Fancy Kodjia to find his scoring boots again and think we will scrape another win by the odd goal.

I can't call this one. Ipswich are a solid side at this level!

I don't think it will be a draw either. So I'll say a narrow win, to who though I have no idea. I just hope we give it a real go!

For Ipswich, this is the sort of game we need to winning to stay in touch with the teams ahead of us. I'm a bit worried that injuries will leave us weak in midfield: I'd be happy with a return to 4-4-2 so Pitman can play as he looks the most likely to score at the moment, but if Skuse and Hyam are both out then we're fucked in the centre. I'm hopeful of a positive reaction after last weekend's poor show, if that means a scrappy 1-0 win then I'm all for it.

Probably been asked before, but how has Skuse been doing since his move to you?

He's great, my favourite player. A lot of fans didn't rate him for the first year or so but I think everyone now recognises the important work he does for the team. Very consistent too, which helps when he's had a lot of central midfield partners.

Skuuuuuuuuuuuuse!

He's got City in his blood that lad, loved watching him. Just made things look easy! I'm quite looking forward to seeing him come up against Korey Smith, would be a good battle.

Under Pembo this would've been a good solid 0-0. Don't know what to expect under Johnson so won't bother making a prediction. Be interesting to see how he sets us up, I hope he keeps it the same given he watched it be successful at Charlton.

Why did you let him go? He still seems to be very well liked by City fans.

Not sure about that. Fanbase was always very divided on him. I thought he was alright, but we let him go because we got relegated into league one and his contract was up.

Like all players down here, City fans like to have a scapegoat and unfortunately, at times it was Skuse. People felt he didn't offer much to the side!

However, I think the majority of City fans feel he's a very good player, some didn't feel he could perform on a consistent basis. Fair shout to Cole, he's done well for himself and I'm happy for him.

Ipswich are a good, stable club.

Skuse definitely out, and Coke, Hyam doubtful. We've got one available central midfielder; options to partner him are a winger, a full back, a player without a league appearance this season, a guy on loan from a League One team or an academy player making his debut. :surr:

Is Bishop injured this season? I remember watching him a few times last season and thinking he looked very good for his age - a mature head on young shoulders from what I've seen of him.

He's missed the whole season with a series of injuries, I think he's close to a return to full training. We've definitely missed him, he made a great impact last year and he's our most creative central midfielder.

No idea how this will go. Hopefully the start of a successful new era. I've actually started looking forward to games recently so long may that continue.

Yeah.. WTF are we doing in the middle of the park. Really irritated by Mick in January, absolutely no cover. Can see us needing 2 goals to win this as we'll inevitably play with less of the ball, but hope the fact that Bristol won't create much going forward will mean we contain them fairly easily.

A thread on our club forum sums it up perfectly...
"Can anyone on here play in Midfield Sat please?"

Edit, Pringle confirmed as signed on TWTD. Will be Bru & Pringle in the centre of the park, then.

Micks still insisting he's happy with the squad and didn't need to bring anyone in in January... Our squad is so weak! First 11-14 are good but the rest :err:

QPR was horrendous last week, which followed the poor Birmingham away game, so I'm glad I'm not going tomorrow! Had hoped to go so I could tick off another ground but it sold out a week and a bit ago. Anyway, looks like City might be on the up and we're looking like falling away from top 6 so I guess I can go next year to a completed Ashton Gate :gr:

Really not excited by Pringle, he turned us down in the summer!!

Pretty sure that's only because he was offered a 2 year deal elsewhere- we were only willing to offer 12 months.

I'm surprised Mick hasn't been in for Karl Henry yet, he loved him at Wolves, I suppose he's on a fair screw at QPR.

I have actually just read we didn't offer him anything!

I imagine our team will be

Bart
Chambers - Smith - Berra - Knudsen
Maitland-Niles - Bru - Pringle - Sears
Murphy - Pitman
On the bench will be Varney, Toure, Foley, Henly (hardly any game time already this season there).... no idea who else we've got! Tabb? :ffs:

Looking forward to watching Maitland-Niles play. He's always been quality whenever I've watched him on the box - proper old school winger.

Tabb seems frozen out completely, doesn't even make the bench. Digby will be in there, along with McDonnell I guess. Wouldn't be surprised if one of those two started - I think Pringle is a winger or attacking mid, not suited to playing central in 4-4-2, and he's not match fit.

I look forward to Nathan Baker snapping him.

The blokes an animal. Some people on OTIB were questioning whether he should be in our first 11. He's our best defender, and love seing him fly in on someone. Shame he'll be gone in the summer.

Won't be seeing him today, he's fucked his toe.

For today I don't think we'll come away with anything, in my opinion Ipswich's attacking threat looks stronger than Birmingham's did and our defence might struggle for pace with Sears, Niles and Pitman flying at them. 2-1 loss, Pitman and Niles the scorers for Ipswich, Kodija scoring for us.

Flinty's at it again.

We've been okay - we've dominated spells of the ball but again haven't really looked like creating much. Ipswich haven't really created much but if we keep giving them that sort of space around the edge of the box we'll get punished soon enough.

Next goal is the crucial one - we get it and it's game over, Ipswich get it and they'll get something here.
