Of the fringe players that played today, Balanta, Brough and Thompson were shite, Sweeney was good. Balanta has at least shown in previous games that he has something, so far Joe Thompson has shown nothing. The lad has been through a lot for someone of his age and it has probably took a lot out of him. I don't think he's up to it at this level unfortunately. Brough will get better, he's still a kid after all.

Didn't expect that. Sounds like Curle made some interesting team choices but you can only beat what's in front of you and we dominated the match from pretty much start to finish.

How we didn't score in the first 15-20 minutes I really don't know. We had 2 glorious chances and basically battered Carlisle in that opening period.

The last 25 minutes of the first half was a little more even but we still looked the more likely to score and we very unlucky not to be in front at the break.

I think a lot of Rovers fans were fearing the missed chances might come back to haunt us but we continued to control the game, playing the better football and creating the better chances. There was a palpable sense of relief when an excellent move left Taylor with a simple tap in to open the scoring. I think that was the first time we've been in front at home since our last win at the Mem in August.

I thought Carlisle might pin us back a bit after that and throw caution to the wind but although they did commit men forward they never looked like scoring. In fact I'm not sure they managed a shot on target in the entire match?

A great strike from Taylor that seemed to take everyone by surprise sealed the points and enabled us to celebrate our first home win in 3 month's before the final whistle.

Considering we were missing Lockyer, Leadbitter and Harrison I thought it was a excellent performance and hopefully this can be the start of a better run of results at the Mem.

I think you're right. I can't recall your keeper doing anything.

We got into some good positions in wide areas, but the final balls we were delivering were incredibly poor, not even getting past the first man on most occasions. Very disappointed considering we finished with 4 strikers on the pitch.

I think we'd maybe get away with it with 2 or 3 first team players not starting, or at least compete anyway... but to have 7 first choice players out of the starting 11 (6 out of the squad completely) was just too much to cope without.

Rovers fully deserved the points.

Just seen the highlights, it's hard for us to play football on a conference standard pitch, but this is what we get for coming down to L2 after being in L1 for all those years.

Can't agree with that. Our groundsman won 'Groundsman of the Year' last season as we had the best pitch in the Conference.

I've seen worse pitches in league 2 this season and when you consider the weather leading up to and during the game I thought the pitch held up very well.

The pitch was absolutely fine. The conditions were awful, but the pitch played no part in the defeat.

Can't blame the pitch here, just a bad day at the office after a horrible group of injuries and suspensions.

I must of seen the highlights of a different match then.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I think at the end of the day all we can do is really say well done to Rovers on their win.

we built Carlisle up before this game, we'll do this, we can score that, we won't just sit back and play for a 0-0 hoping for the best etc, etc then do exactly everything we claimed we wouldn't, went and created nothing and deservedly got beat.

The only as such defence we can give is it wasn't really our first team, we had at most 5 of our first team playing, maybe an argument we only had 4. Gillespie, Ellis, Atkinson, Dicker and maybe Asamoah (but he gets rotated) unfortunately for us the mix of the replacements just didn't at all work.

but we need more luck on the injuries/suspension front if we want top 7, one thing this game has proved to us is we have not got good enough back-up in certain areas (wide positions both wing and full back) to cover certain areas.

oh well I am hoping we should see maybe our strongest 11 next week, I want to see a 4-3-3 with Jabo, gilliead, Hope/Asamoah as a front 3.....shame its one of the toughest tests to face it.

Well our fancy pitch is going to be fucked now, this only happened a few year ago and it is quite clear that our great custodians have not bothered in all that time to put up a flood defence. One thing for sure is that we're not going to get anymore pretty football played at our home games. Thanks AJ and JN you old geriatric numpties.

I think if both sides were at full strength it would have been a very good, very close match. I know we were the better team on Saturday but you had 5 or 6 players missing and we only had 3 first teamers unavailble.

Overall our squads are evenly matched and there is very little to choose between us. As the league position would suggest.

Good luck for the rest of the season. Hopefully we're both still in the play off mix when Rovers travel to Cumbria on Easter Monday.

maybe that win will be your kick up backside to kick start, I expected you to do well this season but you then went and added nothing which surprised me.

Good Luck for season, I suppose we were due a bad day at office at the Mem we usually grab something from games there.

Genuinely excited to have Gilliead and Ibehre back on Saturday, more so than I have been about players returning in a pretty long while. It's a but if a shame that Gilliead couldn't get an earlier flight back since his friendly against France was cancelled but given the circumstances perhaps we shouldn't have expected him to play either way.
