Looks as if Barrow could be the Cowleys bogey team. They did the double over us last season with them in charge and it appears they will do the same unless Lincoln do an FGR in the final 10 minutes.

Balls.

Still nicely placed, though.

Still a long way to go. If we manage to grab a win at Tranmere Saturday it will open it right up.

Unbelievable change in attitude in the space of two days! We had a whole XI that actually tried for the first time in ages. Haven't been so pessimistic about a game in ages, but we came out on top in every 50/50. Apart from the dodgy penalty at the end, the officials didn't seem to get much wrong (always easier to say with three points in the bag, of course). Still some concerns, but at least the effort has returned.

Surprised to see that performance from Lincoln given what I've seen this season to date.

That said, barrow is always a bloody tough place to go to, and Cox is a good manager.

The ref was poor, he gave barrow basically everything - the penalty was soft - unless things have got less physical in the conference of late.

Barrow basically beat us at our own game and did a comprehensive job on us. They won every 50-50, beat us to every loose ball, worked harder than us and pressed with more intensity. Their gamesmanship was ugly and made for an awful spectacle but it's nothing we haven't been doing ourselves. Barrow's number 9 was a constant thorn in our side and their CB (Diarra?) was utterly dominant.

The referee was dogshit but we were much, much worse.

Yep, poor from us, Barrow deserved it but my god they are a horrible side to play against. Never a peno for the third and we couldn't get going in a very stop/start game which played into the hands of the home side all night. At least they will take points off others around the top, esp at Holker street with that very levelling unlevel pitch!

Onwards to the next game, not bothered about the cup, the league is were it all counts. Hoping we get Habergham back soon and we can put this one down to just a bad day at the office.

Six of one and half a dozen of the other on the night too from my POV. Rhead doing his goalie wind-up, lots of flailing arms etc

I think those are both fair summaries. God knows we've had some shocking refs lately, though I think it was only the late penalty he got wrong tonight - couldn't see the alleged elbow properly, but it looked no more than a flailing arm, similar to what we get every time from Rhead. Thought it was a bit ridiculous him grabbing his badge and saluting the away crowd when he went off - only six months ago he had a transfer request in because he was desperate to leave (and join us...). Seems an easy guy to wind up, though I'd have him in our team.

Raggett is a very good player, though I think he's the only player that really turned up, because there's some real talent in your squad. Couldn't really tell if you were a passing side or a long ball side as you weren't getting much time on the ball to do either! Probably our most hard fought victory, as we're rarely as aggressive as that. Just what was needed after the past month or so though.

I'm not sure whether it's the case, but I'm not sure we've even beaten a Cox side.

I think it's telling that Lincoln seemed to be the only team who have come to Barrow and attempted to play football - the first 5 mins you were passing about, as we all like to see. Braintree (under Cowley) tried the same at the end of last season and got trounced too.
We seem to be able to cope with that sort of threat better than the likes of Southport, who didn't even attempt to play football and came away with a win.

Good result for the league as a whole. Having a runaway leader isn't a good thing for the excitement levels.

It could be very tight up top after this weekend's matches!

Well that season we were promoted we drew and beat you in the league, and also the cup - you were closest when a certain Matt Rhead levelled at 3-3 at Sincil Bank.

There's a pretty big thread going on Stagsnet about Lincoln - I think we're all pretty hopeful you come back up - you've more than served your time down in that cesspit

It hard for any team to play against Barrow when the ball is hoofed as far as possible.terrible coaching and thought they were absolute garbage against team at bottom of league.

We've now played Tranmere, FGR, Dover, Dagenham and Barrow away now. Just FGR and Dagenham at home to come, although we've got some tricky ones with potential PO sides like Aldershot (a), Chester (h).

At least Cowley's being a gent and giving Barrow all the credit.
Not seen or heard anything yet, but I'm guessing he said something like "control the controllables" / "I can only control our performance".

That's another good thing about Cowley. Never blames a ref or anything (unless it's Guiseley FOR WHAT THEY DID) and is pretty straight down the middle with how he sees a game. Always looks at our team first.

We've generally struggled/not got a result against direct and tall sides this season full stop.

Barrow twice, Dover away, Dagenham away, Eastleigh at home. We're not a particularly tall side, so it's no big surprise that we do tend to struggle.

Yeah, we were garbage - that and the Southport game were probably two of our worst performances since getting promoted - nowt to do with coaching though, we've played some good football before our recent slump.
