I have posted else where , it was announced this morning tht a temporary 1,000 seater stand is being built above the away end terracing which I think holds 1,800, thus giving an away capacity of 2,800. I think if I remember correctly it will be ready for the visit of the sheep.

The sheep.

You fucking clown. Are you a Forest fan in disguise?

Most of your fans are Derby.

That's what you woolly backs like to think, granted there are a few but the vast majority are not, Albion is our only club. There is interest in your scores to see if you are losing and we enjoy your annual bottle job.
Obviously you are a much bigger club than we are and I expect no points from our 2 meetings but if we were to win one of them I doubt most of you would be able to handle being beaten by the tin pot non-league team down the road. Like it or not we are in the same league as you on merit.
We have no animosity toward Forest, probably our feelings towards you are similar to there's.
Our attitude toward you perhaps comes from the condescending attitude of sheep fans and the timing of your approach for Nigel Clough and then the manner in which your club treated him.
When I was young, no one ever mentioned you until the legend that is Brian Clough became your manager. You messed that up and he went on to achieve even greater things at your bitter rivals.

You're just trying to create a rivalry that isn't there.

A lot of Derby fans go to watch you when we're away or not playing, a lot have a soft spot for you having followed your progress up the leagues over the years, and the rest (myself included) have no interest in you at all.

Welcome to our world, when we were knocking about in the top flight we'd loan players to the likes of Doncaster, Rotherham and Chesterfield, have annual friendlies there to help them out over the summer and genuinely had a soft spot for em but suddenly we are on our arse and these little c*** pipe up creating a faux rivalry with us hoping we reciprocate. It's all a bit sad!

Some do, I stand with one, he knows those around him don't like the sheep but we have good humoured banter and sensible football chat. It is a friendly rivalry but rivalry just the same. The worse the sheep do the better it is for Burton Albion, simple really.
We don't feel that way towards any other club. To be honest it annoys Albion fans that many from the town have allegiance to the sheep and not there home town club. We have a large proportion of young fans but we are also picking up fans of other clubs who are new to the area, they start coming to the Pirelli and gradually Albion become their first club. It happened to me back in the 60's.
So back on track, I hope you enjoy your trip to our ground, you will be the first to enjoy the new temporary seating stand, if we can get something from the game great, it will be a surprise to me if we do but I wonder how your fans would take a defeat.

Now we all know that there is only one club in Sheffield that has really and truly helped us out and it sure ain't Wednesday.
Many thanks though for lowering yourselves and playing us in the odd pre-season friendly to "help" us out.

If that's the case we must be "helping" Grimsby and Scunthorpe out this year, though I honestly thought it was to get the players fit for the new season. Silly me.

Oh and BTW local clubs do tend to have rivalries even if one is more massive than the other.

Admittedly it is usual for it to be more important to the smaller club's fans, but there were plenty of Wednesday fans on the phone bleating when Warnock worked his magic last season. It clearly mattered to them.

Luckily for you you are above all that local rivalry stuff, at least you can go home and eat your tea when we beat you, safe in the knowledge that although it's a defeat, it's just another 3 points and it's no worse than any other loss.
I'm quite jealous really, I'm grumpy for a week after you beat us. :ohy:

Brown sauce every time for me.

I accept that some Owls fans were only too happy to contribute, while others not so much, I remembers some buckets being kicked over outside Hillsborough and a fair bit of abuse from some. Now I realise they were not representative of the Owls fan base as a whole and most were supportive.
The thing is, how long are we supposed to be grateful?

That's what the football community do for one another I have contributed to Bury and Chester just off the top of my head.
I don't expect everlasting gratitude.

Well, I said before that I wasn't likely to make this because of money. Been putting all loose change to one side since, got about £20 saved, so at this rate I might just manage it! :2thumb:

This is our first Tuesday night league away game of the season in August so will be making this one, how much are tickets usually at the Pirelli?

Not entirely sure about the away end but I will guess at 20 notes to stand and 25 to sit down, something very close to that anyway.

Reported today that the temporary extra seating will not go ahead, that means our capacity will stay at 6,912.

Good decision. I think the chairman said it didn't economically make sense to extend the away end so I assume we haven't sold anywhere near as many season tickets or memberships as he expected. We'll be able to initially accommodate about 2150 away supporters at the Pirelli as was proved when Port Vale brought that many the season they got promoted from league two 4 years ago. There sure as shit ain't more than 4500 Burton supporters in Burton so after season tickets and members ticket sales there will be plenty available when we get to general sale. Away fans in the home ends will happen at every game and as far as I'm concerned it's a by product of the apathy of the people of Burton. We should've been selling out last season but we weren't. As long as the stewarding is tight and away fans in the home ends aren't pricks then I haven't got a problem with it.

As its the only ground I have yet to visit in this league, I'm looking forward to this more than any other away day. 40 mins away, night match, plenty of boozers' terracing, should be a good un.

For what its worth we don't expect "everlasting gratitude" we also don't expect hatred and bitterness for helping out a neighbour in need, but hey ho that's football rivalries for you, you carry on your love in with the Blades, always makes us smirk that does

Took nearly 3 weeks to think that up did it?

For what it is worth, I don't hate Wednesday at all.

The Rotherham fans that do "hate" them, do so because of Wednesday fan's perceived arrogance, which incidently your post indicates.

I have no love in for the Blades either, but in terms of who has helped us in the past, the Blades are streets in front of your lot.
Still it's always nice to smirk so carry on believing if it helps.

No mate it took me 2 minutes to think up the reply, straight after I first read through the thread. Me and Walkley Owl are 2 different people. Thanks I will keep on smirking, you keep on believing you don't hate Wednesday too., if it helps of course. Just out of interest, where is the perceived arrogance in putting money in a collection for another club, only to get hate and bile from said teams fans? Think mine and your perception of arrogance differ slightly. The "if it helps" you said and the implication it took 3 weeks to think of a reply to your post, seem far more arrogant imo.

I have to admit I am struggling to make sense of you reply.
I am not confusing you with the real Walkley Owl, no one could ever do so, so don't worry about that.
I really do not hate Wednesday though it's nice you think you know my mind better than I do, could that be conceived as arrogance on your part maybe?
I never criticised the people who put money in the collection buckets or called them arrogant.

Maybe you should read my original post again.
But don't bother to reply, it doesn't belong on the Burton thread anyway.
My apologies to all Burton fans for taking the thread off topic.

Its not too difficult to understand my reply Bri, especially for someone of your undoubted intellect. Seems more likely you don't want to understand it to me. Anyway you are right though I really shouldn't be bothered to reply and it certainly doesn't belong on the Burton away thread, somewhere I think we all agree we are looking forward to visiting, and I think most of us (Derby apart maybe) would like to wish good luck to them for the new season.

I don't hate wednesday, hate Rotherham owls and Donny.
Fully understand that mate, unless they lived in Sheffield and moved to Rotherham (or their family did). Hate to see Man U, Chelsea etc fans in Sheffield much prefer to see Blades as at least they support "their" club, its like being English but supporting Spain Imo. Anyway only a friendly but owls currently beating Benfica one nil.

Bargain. And park your car for free if you are driving near the ground.
Am on the train as I don't drive yet, costing about £40, but fuel for the journey would probably be about £35 so it's not too bad priced. This is genuinely the away game I was most determined to get to so happy I got my ticket sorted and looking forward to it.
On the other hand I'm thinking this is the worst time we could play you away, your fans will be right up for it I'd imagine, should be a cracking atmosphere.

Hope you have an enjoyable day apart from the result obviously. Albion fans are a decent friendly bunch. It is not a good time to play us as you say. We will be under estimated by all as usual but that's normal for us. Personally I don't think we will do too badly, squad looks like it can more than cope if QPR friendly is anything to go by. Think our small ground and terraces close up to the pitch and fans breathing down their necks will be something different for most teams to cope with.
15 minute to the ground from the train station, turn left out of station and then 1st right and follow that to the ground. Don't take the 2nd right or you make think you are in the third world !

Only allocated 1500 for our game there on the 26th. That's seats and terrace.

Decent prices, £24 and £20, but I expected nearer 2k tickets.

Meh
