Our support is a bit odd this season considering we are in the play-offs - we had more fans going home and away when we were in League One over 15 years ago.

before it turns into an argument you have better away support than us so don't think I'm saying we are on par with Leeds.
On numbers, I had a quick look at some of the games remaining for both ourselves and Leeds on the train the other day. Provided we receive the full end at Blackburn and Wigan, we'll end up pipping them to 2nd given that, aside from Newcastle, all our remaining aways will sell out whatever the max allocation is.

Worth noting that ultimately Leeds will finish approx. 3-400 above their average last season. They wouldn't have come close to us had they had a mediocre season and not all been jumping on the bandwagon. We've had around seven terrible seasons in a row, win one away game every decade, and yet..

It's a novelty for Villa though, not for Leeds, same grounds year in Year out, if you're down here any length of time I doubt you'll match em.

As proved with the fact you can't sell out Newcastle, why? Because it's a ground you go to every year. Leeds and us and others to an extent have been down here for years going to the same shitty grounds (no disrespect meant but none compare to St James) year in Year out and still take decent numbers. Yes you have had good numbers this season but would you if you had played these "little teams" for 10 years? The obvious answer is no, as you can't sell out at Newcastle (everyone else's biggest game, even Rotherham sold out) for that very reason. Don't get me wrong Im not knocking your away support, but think if you had been down here for as long as some of us, your numbers would be nearer ours than Leeds. Also I know you will say you are shit, but you are alot better than many of us have been, for many years.

To make it look better for TV is the obvious guess
This, and testing to see if it works, so Wednesday fans can be put in top tier for games later in the year if needed. Though I suspect if we do get the top tier it we will be limited to 2k. Knowing SYP and SAG this will probably not happen now, due to the handbags (basically nothing happened) between Brum fans and stewards. Won't stop SYP overreacting though, they're terrified anything should happen at Hillsborough.

Newcastle is not a big game for us purely because we have been playing them for years. Most teams in this league are treating that away game as an fa cup tie and we all know how good smaller clubs followings are in the cup when they draw a big club away, it's the same situation here. Come the day of the game we may have 1700 going up which is impressive imo. Both Leeds and Wednesday in particular would do well to match that if it was a familiar ground and in shit form. I'd put our away support in between Leeds and Wednesday regarding how good it will be in years to come if we are still down here. No way are we on par with Leeds overall. Thing is I'd rather us be 3rd in the league and 15th in the away support league anyday.

1800 Ipswich(rough estimate off their forum and I'd say it was around that anyway)

Exactly Newcastle is not a big game for you because you have been playing them for years, in thef same way, other than you and Newcastle and our local rivals nobody is a big game (or has the novelty factor) to us, Leeds, Forest, Wolves, Derby etc, because we have been play each other for years. At grounds a lot more expensive but less impressive than St James. You can't have it both ways, either playing at the same grounds affects your away support (and every body elses) or it doesn't. As I said earlier not knocking your support or your club, you are a genuine sleeping giant, who I doubt will stay here for a decade +, but if you did your support wouldn't be as good as it is this year.
Off topic but get in, England egg chasers a team with proper passion and pride in wearing the shirt.

Villa sold out last week (2,400) and 2,000 went in the first week of sales to ST holders for Newcastle.

We've also only sold just over 200 for Leeds this Tuesday....

weekend game and we sell out the full allocation imo which would be a first up there in a while. Anyway I know you're not knocking our support and I don't mean to come across like I think we are the dogs bollocks because we aren't, and I agree that we would not keep up the numbers if we remained down here. It's my second favourite sport believe it or not. My favourite is watching villa get beat.
