Coincidentally we sign off where our Championship exploits started, against Charlton, the first opposition we came across and tried to gauge ourselves against in 2013/14. 4500+ coming up for a party in London (where were you when we were shit etc etc). So long as we don't lose 20-0, it's gonna be a cracking day! Winning promotion on a Monday night was a bit weird. So Saturday is the chance to celebrate it properly, the old fashioned way, by getting absolutely battered all weekend.
May even be a slight chance of the title, if Watford slip up against Sheffield Wednesday. But who cares. Our squad were out on the lash in Bournemouth on Monday night, so their minds may well have started choosing which beach they're going to lie on all summer. And who can blame them. Perhaps a draw might be nice, so there's a clear point in it. Whatever.
Charlton aren't exactly going to lie down and let us have a party either, so the actual game and result could well be hard work. I don't think we've won, or even scored a goal at The Valley in decades (if ever?). It's a ground I really like and not the worst journey in the world either, although the trains are slightly complicated by engineering work.
